Just picked up my SP5. I have found your videos very informative, Thanks and keep it up, I can overlook the lighting or whatever anyone is complaining about.
Michael Eye hey Michael! No cleaning or lube before the 1st visit as it comes pretty wet out of the box. I would wipe off the excess oil on all outer surfaces before your 1st visit as they are packaged for shelf life and a bit oily for 1st range visit
Just acquired a MAC 5 (Mertsav / Turkey) made MP5 clone $999 with a bolt gap of .018"/.45mm, .020"/.50mm forced & .022"/.55mm not fitting. It's definitely within the top upper range of acceptable specs and I'm hoping that within its breaking period, it'll settle somewhat in the middle of the specs.
Thank you, Derek! Just measured my brand new SP5 and am at 0.018. Will the gap expand or contact with repeated use? I was assuming that it would increase as the rollers and locking piece wears down?
I just bought an MKE AP5, fullsize MP5 clone. Measured the bolt gap, and the 0.020 blade won't go, the 0.018 slides in no problem. Overall the gun is pretty tight. Another part to inspect on a clone is the mag catch or, rather, the cut in the receiver where the mag catch rests. On a lot of MKEs, they cut the hole too large, leading to severe magazine wobble. Mine, luckly, its pretty sight, the gap is miminal, enough so the magcatch doesn't feel grindy, mags, even fully loaded, have minimal wobble but they don't rattle when you shake the gun. My only gripe is that it came with a copper extractor spring, which is true to the HK MP5, but copper springs are known for not lasting long. Some AP5 are not coming with steel extractor springs.
@@illestdomer2005 Not yet. I still haven't reached the thousand rounds mark. On the bad side, if I want to get spare parts, I need to get them imported from USA. Thingies like springs, screws, knobs, maybe even locking rollers, I can buy them and get them sent to a warehouse owned by an importer that deals with general goods. For more complex parts like magazines, handguards, optics, complete boltheads, stocks, that's more complicated. In any case, thanks for asking. Also, what I found out is that my AP5 is more lenient with handloads than my Gen 4 Glock. Maybe it's because of the flutted chamber. The Glock has a more loose chamber, it can chamber rounds that are a bit outta spec, whereas the AP5 hates them as it problably has a tighter chamber and/or a less forgiving feeding ramp. But it if chambers well on the AP5, you can bet your life that if it fires, it will extracted and then ejected to the next county.
