    • @EK_BadBoy
      @EK_BadBoy Год назад +8

      @@HollieAndApollo Apprenticeships are the traditional way to get into tattooing, so going around to different shops asking if they would take on an apprentice is exactly how you'd start out. It can be hard to find a shop that's a good fit and sometimes artists will go through a few different apprenticeships before getting licensed. I lucked out and asked a tattoo artist who commissioned work from me, so I knew he liked my work.

    In the second video you are 100% correct. She had a “red reaction”. Happened to me years ago when I ventured outside of black and grey and got my first colored tattoo that included a lot of red ink. I had horrible itching and once it peeled it looked exactly like the girl in the video. That is basically what it looks like on darker skin. I freaked out at first and thought it was infected 😅
    Took forever to heal but 4 or so months in the red came back and it has been beautiful ever since! I have gotten a few more red tattoos following that (dumb I know but I love the way it looks!) but now I basically know what to expect in the healing process. Luckily my tattoo artist has been tattooing for 25+ years so he knew instantly what was happening right away when I sent him photos, I wonder if the artist she went to didn’t have much experience with ink reactions to properly educate her so she wouldn’t have been so panicked.

Unfoetunately, that also means recieving all the "sun" damage at once but hey! 2-3 sessions and a month or two later the tattoo is faint enough to get a good background for a coverup or maybe even it disappears entirely. The second tattoo definitely looked like an allergic reaction. You should always do a patch test when it comes to colors, especially on darker skin tones to see how they heal. Darker skin is more sensitive to scarring as well, so artists have to be more gentle. To combat the allergic reaction you put another color on top of it to change the molecular composition inside the dermis. Black would be the easiest, but any other color that is not red adjacent would work as well

    I've never seen an allergic reaction THAT SEVERE but I agree that's what the symbols on the forearm looks like. It doesn't appear to be infected and errrr... obviously it depends on where she is but a tattoo that size for $100 sounds extremely cheap, maybe there's a possibility they're using fake or dodgy inks? Allergic reactions can happen anytime, whether it's high quality, professional tattoo ink or not, but that is a particularly bad reaction - if you see ANYTHING like that happening to your tattoo, get thee to the Dr's ASAP!

That person clearly didn’t know what they were doing or hasn’t been doing it for very long the shop I go to the minimum is 150$ my tattoos were each twice the shop minimum and I love them big bold traditional designs of horror icons. Ugh I feel so bad for her

    That one with the removal was using a cautery tool. As in, what doctors use during surgery to stop bleeds in small contained areas. They are literally burning the tattoo out. The whole thing will be a scar and then he will look as if he had been scarred there. They are branding the tattoo.

    So right about the calf tattoos! My first (side of thigh) tattoo I did the 6.5 hours in one go and almost napped through it, but the leg and calf...whew, had to do three 2 hour blocks because it was so painful I was scared I'd unintentionally smack my artist! I told her I liked it better when she was at my ankle bone than on the calf.

    I got my first tattoo, armature pliers, blackwork with some crosshatching, on the back of my leg, from the achilles tendon to the middle of my calf, everywhere online told me that placement is really painful but i didnt want to change it as it fits my leg really well. I was incredibly nervous the entire time, and when my artist told me to lie down and actually started tattooing, starting from bit the straight on my achilles tendon, it felt like a tickle 😂 the tattoo was pretty smoothly , the closer it got to the knee the more it stung but it didnt hurt much overall!

    I handled chest like a pro.
    But my back was a nightmare, I was in tears, but it wasn't like just normal pain. It felt like pain straight to my brain. Like pain of being insulted by a parent or having pet die.
    It could be due to genetic condition I have since it causes some growth along the nerves, especially on my back and stomach

    That MJ one killed me because even I didn’t expect the result it was. And as of most painful tattoo, for me I have 13 tattoos and my left calf was the worst one. Felt like the artist lit a scalpel on fire and carved it into my skin and my leg kept flinching over and over again. And my left wrist was horrible to sit through as well. Felt the same way.

    7:51 so sweet :) I legit “ruined the day a bit” for my mum with my last (to date biggest) tattoo. Mind you, I’m 32 and got a tattoo on my sternum. You can only see it if I wear something really low cut. My dad at least appreciated the artistry :)

    My first and so far only tattoo is on the back of my calf and I didn't realize that was supposed to be a more painful placement until another artist in the studio commented on it afterwards lol. I had to take a couple of breaks but I just thought it was a normal amount of pain for tattoos and it wasn't too bad. I'm glad my artist didn't tell me it was a painful spot or I think I would have psyched myself out. All in all good experience and great tattoo and I owe it to Lauren for inspiring me and teaching me how to find a good artist! I'm hoping I'll be able to get many more.
