The voiceover format with drowned original audio coupled with Ian McShane looking directly towards the audience (which is not inherently us since he's telling the story to the other guys) grants so much genius to this scene.
Just doing the math (provided he doubled his bet on the table every time as well as with Meredith), Tippy Gordon lost 100,000 Pounds on that table. And this is why you shouldn't gamble when you're intoxicated or high. Lol
Maybe I got the maths wrong, but I calculate it as 130,000 pounds Tippy lost. 40,000 to Meredith, but the table takes 6 +12+24+48 = 90,000 pounds. So the total is 130,000 pounds
Okay, I retract my previous comment because it seems even the people making this film flubbed the math. Here's what I got now: Wager w/ Meredith: $5000 + $10,000 + $20,000 +$40,000 = $75,000 Table bet: $6000 + $12,000 + $24,000 + $48,000 = $90,000 Grand total lost by the coke fiend: $165,000 I was wrong initially (I think). But how the writer did the math and landed on $40,000 is beyond me. Lol
Man, this movie was great for 30 minutes, then got really rough for 30 minutes, and then shuffled around looking at its feet for 30 minutes before deciding to be over.
Meredith is an interesting character Colin Diamond "What would you do?" Meredith "About what?" He doesn't seem to be interested in Colin's situation, he's just there for the kicks and the drama
You can tell Meredith has been winding up peanut for years and peanut bites every time 😂😂
RIP John Hurt, you really helped tie this film together.

"What I choose to do with my 9 1/2 has got fuck all to do with you." - Meredith(Ian McShane) 💯💯💯👌🏼

It's the Lovejoy technique..
I'd love to see a spinoff about Tippy Gordon's back story.
"oi bumface here you are, get your nose stuck into thaat"
Bumface has some job driving Tippy around and being offered big lines of devil's dandruff to keep him sharp.

He can afford it maaaate.
Yep. 5,000 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 40,000 then doubling bets to Merideth 6,000 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 48,000. So total, £88,000 💷 it cost him.
