thanks again for the videos man - how do you track live instruments to build loops on the 404a? eg if I have a drum loop and wanted to add live bass? im now contemplating recording everything to a metronome separately....also btw when I set "auto trig level" (function+4) - does this reset every time I restart the sp?
I have two ways I do it, I use a metronome like you said, or I use a second SP (say I play the loop on the 404, then record guitar on the 202 or 303 - with the 303 running into the 404’s line in so I can hear both at the same time.
If I wanna do 404 fx on the guitar I run the iRig into the 404’s line in, if I don’t the iRig goes into the desk (can DI) but you gotta sound check to makes sure the guitar tone is cool with the eq on the desk.
If I have to hold down MFX and scroll until I get to the right number I've screwed that up a couple of times. If it's something I know I'm going to definitely do in a song I sometimes setup the delay, vinyl sim, DJFX Looper, Isolator etc before I start, they hold their settings so at least I know what it sounds like when I hit them.
I don’t mind the tone of a guitar plugged directly into the Mic In once you resample it with a little reverb and vinyl sim. Pedals are def worth trying although I haven’t met too many overdrive pedals I like the DI sound of without an amp or amp sim.
@@Nonjuror thanks! I'm brand new to pedals, was thinking of getting some for better reverb, delay, maybe tremolo. Would those sound okay without an amp? I might just go the iRig + amp sim route, tough call
The name of the amp sim app is AmpliTube that comes with the iRig, perhaps check out some demo videos - it may cover a lot of the sounds you’re looking for.
So, like: Guitar -> Wah -> Overdrive -> SP404 -> Amp? Hmmm....you can def do it but the Line Out is probably a significantly louder signal than just the guitar/pedals, that may be a problem, maybe really noisey. Perhaps something like a Reamp box (the opposite of a DI box) might make that cleaner. I know it’s not the same but what you can do is mic up your amp with something like a sm57 and run that mic into the front of the 404 and add fx to it live from there...
Cool video! Have you had any issues with latency when running instruments and monitoring through the SP404 MK2?
Dope!! Thank you for sharing

And auto trig I think does reset
@@Nonjuror gotcha
Very cool! This device is a sequencer and can you program drums, bass and keyboards for shows?
hmmm....not to my knowledge, I haven't messed with the MIDI at all but I think it's more slave than master....
Thank you!
Cheers!
How are you hooking up when you Gerry to the actual venue?

Do you find it difficult switching between the effects on the SP when playing live?

You can select the external input just like you would any other pad, maybe having to hold down Remain.
Cool
Fire 🔥
What if I skip the iRig and plug directly into the SP404 mic jack? Would it sound shitty? Could I use real pedals that way? Thanks for the video 👍 !

Can you run a guitar through standard pedals through the sp404 into an amp?

what is that typicall efect we here in the intro (first seconds?)
I have the 404a’s Vinyl Sim on the guitar at the start, it makes playing jazz chord stuff real nice
Can you record into the sp404A using this technique?
Yeah man, with mfx on also. You just can’t record guitar while the beat is playing at the same time, which is a bummer...
