Yeah, at first I felt like this would be pretty ideal for realistic drum, bass, and other sampling to run though my pedalboard (guitar) with eventide space, timefactor, etc. but every RUclips video is by some guy making mad hiphop beatz yo.
You gotta love the attitude he has toward the creative process and it not having to be too perfect. Thats exactly what its about. Nice touch with that contact mic by the way. Truly enjoyed this video!
I really didn't expect to see Nick jamming with a 404 today but I'm so glad I did. Everyone who works with the 404 truly operates it in their own way. So awesome so see this!
Someone get this man an MK2. No need to worry about stereo sampling, viewable waveforms for your samples to easily set start and end points, plus changing the loop start point, envelope manipulation and so much more
Hell yeh! Im a rock/metal guitarist and i just got into mixing electric music. I have the akai force, 404 mk2 and elektron rytm 2. Can wait to see what mixes and creations i can come up with. Nice work bud 🤘
Hey Nick I have been searching far and wide could you PLZZZ tell me; how do u connect a foot trigger to launch samples on the SP 404?? (if anyone else knows plzz help) Big love, Will Blume.
Trimming is easy! Probably wouldn't make a good youtube video but I usually sample whatever on sampler then pull out the memory card, open the memory card on my Mac and edit on a wave editor. Or if I'm sampling from a record, I record into a wave editor, edit the sample then put it on the card which goes back into the sampler. Also, sick vid!
Somebody get this guy the mk2......the storage space alone will make things so much easier for him. Good onya Nick. Afterthought, given that he is already familiar with sampling on this, the addition of the BOSS RC-505, at the very end of his chain, might really help.
This is brilliant. Thank you so much. Would love an SP. But I have to use my old loop station (or Koala for android). As a surrogate sampler. Bit of a workaround I guess. The vocal sound , sounds Haunting. I so want to do this with my g2m. Love making my own triggers; why buy em? Heh. Do you happen to have an opinion on Sinevibes effects algorithms? Cheers
I bought my sp404sx used... the original sd card wasn't included... I've tried many times to download the wave converter to a new card after formatting... I'm using windows 11 and it won't open converter... is there any alternatives
for those following along at home: if you DON't delete the previous loops as you resample, you can then use them as different sections; in effect able to build up/break down. the end product sounds like various levels of intensity to the percussion/whatever else you're building. example: INTRO: flangey mic loop. VERSE: flangey mic loop PLUS drum samples. CHORUS: The Whole Kitchen ya dig?
It wasn’t an effect, he was scanning through the start/end point of the sample. On the SP-404A when you want to trim the start or end point of a sample, you have to choose a numerical value for when the start or end is. Each new value retriggers the sample, so if you scan through these values really quickly it creates these granular tones as the start point is quickly shifted in milliseconds and continually retiggered. Does that help?
@@mummermusic ayyy thank you so much. i've used that function before but i guess i didn't realize how interesting and textural it could get to play with! much abliged.

Nick you may think you lack certain tech skill with this unit but you're light-years ahead of me.

Wow !! This is super original and crazy ! What would be the principal differences between the SP404 and a loop pedal ?

The grid is soul death. Nuance and imperfection is more of what modern music needs. I hope you keep embracing it.
What contact mic is used?

what was the effect he was using at 20:40 and 20:48??
