This was one of those moments where Final Fantasy XIV felt like a true JRPG again. I hope they add the ability to replay solo instances like this in a future update.
No it's not, there is also Trials as in "The Warring Triad" and "The Four Lords", Raids as in "Alexander" and "Omgea" and the Alliance Raid's as in "The Crystal Tower" and "Return to Ivalice" amongst others including Hildibrand even with more to add in the future as in A Realm Reborns MSQ and Shadowbringers Part 3 in Patch 5.3
Bernard Corin I was actually more thinking The Emperor's Wont (Ie the Empire-Controlled Territory theme) but I can see the similarities to Azys as well.
For "Dungeon" reasons, you go against Regula the first time 4 on 1. Canonically, you're inside the Facility alone. Just as you take on Thordan and his knights all by yourself too. Most of your feats if not all of them during the Heavensward MSQ canonically it's you completely alone.
Gameshunter92 Not all the time from what it looks like. Because remember in the MSQ for ARR part of the plan was you bringing along other adventurers to raid Castrum Meridianum. Unless for story reasons you sometimes form a party and sometimes don't
Hence why I said that DURING Heavensward you're feats are mostly done by yourself or alongside other NPCs, not counting other adventurers like when you go into Castrum Meridianum or Praetorium, especially since in those last 2 dungeons you can see your whole party in the cutscenes, but you see none of your party members during the Facility or when you're about to duke it out with Thordan.
Raid contents are the one where you're helped by some adventurers on story pov. But most dungeons/trials stories are canonically done by you and yourself only. I mean come on, why would you even wait to recruit some peeps in Chrysalis trial ? lol
When i played this quest and heard this theme I felled in love with it so easily its still not what i would imagine being a boss theme for Regula but who knows this may be the theme for the 6th legion as a whole or it might be reused with every Azys La Solo Mission as something this great needs to be used again
This sounds like Heavy Gauge from Dynasty Warriors 4 a mid way through. Man its awesome. the background riff only sounds like it before anyone jumps on me.
Akemi Sayaka I really felt like they ended him too soon. He got away from our characters twice at least and yet just as they began to develop him they nixed him off.
Kellen McQueen Better than what they did with Gaius. Man didn't even survive past A Realm Reborn's debut. I hope they don't make the same mistake with Zenos.
biorobot2 the design of the NPC party is to allow players to farm old content for gears they want. They are still bound to play with other players if they want to farm tomes and play new content and the NPC party is said to only work with old dungeon content they have already completed. NPC group will not be allowed in Raids (both 24 and 8 member) and newer dungeon contents.
all I can say is I'm glad we finally got a true 1v1 against this guy, no help at the start and then the npc leaves, no solo start and then a npc comes to help, a true 1v1 from start to finish.
I really enjoyed this battle, was nice knocking some Imperials out again. Also, while I do hate Van Hydrus, gotta admire his combat skills, and that headgear looks pretty sick =3
i've never done Azys Lla, my character is only 60 i just finished realm reborn and don't even start heavensward. but i think it's because i heard it during the even of birthday of the game, during the little dungeaon you can hear it.
But the Warring Triad arc is a reference to FFVI. Not to mention that Regula leads the Sixth Imperial Legion. Nael van Darnus in 1.0 lead the Seventh Legion and oversaw Project Meteor.
That has little bearing on the idea that the name itself is likely a reference to "Those Who Fight" and "Those Who Fight Further", which are both from FFVII.
I wonder if Van Hydrus will end up being the "Kefka" once the eikons are all defeated. He seems to be playing a significant part in the story; whatever the case is, everything seems to be falling in place for that other dude, the hooded one whose name I cannot remember lol
Well, Regula is more like General Leo from Final Fantasy VI rather than Kefka,. In fact this whole side story with the Warring Triad plays out like a massive what if scenario for if Leo killed Kefka and then accompanied the Emperor to the Floating Continent instead rather than the other way around. Actually the lore book makes mention that Regula replaced the former Legatus of the VIth after executing him for corruption. That former Legatus may have been our Kefka reference.
Gaius needed a team of 8 to fight him, he also managed to fend off the Scions in 1.0 by himself. This guy? Head of the so-called 6th legion and you fight him more than once by yourself.
The simple fact that Regula clashes with the Warrior of Light on three separate occasions and survives is pretty impressive. Especially considering how the WoL is shrouded in a ridiculous amount of plot armour. I think he's a cool character - I liked Gaius, too. Hopefully we get more interesting Garlean lore characters who remain loyal to their homeland and people (unlike Cid and Lucia) who aren't killed off immediately...or at all. In short, I'd love to be able to side with a Garlean along the lines of Gabranth from FF12 or Rufus from FF7.
In retrospect, we were lvl 50 when we fought Gaius. And today if you go solo unsynched(as a lvl 60) in Preatorium, you might be able to solo him as well.
Difference is. If you follow the story, the warrior of light right now is supposedly to be EXTREMELY powerful, even beings of the void in the weeping city and Sephirot himself have said "What power of death do you mortal have?" they are impressed there is a being so powerful. Eldibus (the white Ascian) said something similar about the warrior of light grown too powerful beyond any scope imaginable. So the warrior of light that faced Gaius was just an strong dude. Nowadays he is similar to a primal.
I imagine they changed his weapon to give him a more unique moveset from Gaius, our first battle with him was pretty much a copy and paste from the pre-ultima fight.
Well he had the bastard sword in Aetherochemical Research Facility as well. It's actually his main weapon rather than the standard Gunblade. I guess he just used that one to find out how you beat Gaius (since he used Gaius's moves almost exclusively in that fight).
Demonjustin of Phoenix Yeah, next time you do it pay close attention to his weapon. :D Also Regula uses that sword because his passion in life is ancient Garlean sword techniques and the sword he uses is basically harking back to those old days whilst adding on magitek bits according to the lore book.
So.. we fight this guy fornthe 3rd time, by the battle we had it seems he fighted with everything he had, and for the 3rd time he loses and then escapes. Reallly? How many times this guy is going to walk away?
Lol whaaaaa?? Where the hell do you take that he's selfishly acting for his own agenda? He even said he'd gladly die for the emperor but that wouldn't serve him much so he fled.
The emperor wasn't there and he was talking to krile not the WoL, her death would not change much to Garlemald's situation, plus he reacted to the insult she threw at him about the emperor, if he really has no faith in him he wouldn't react to the insult, he'd had just ran away instead he replied with "you' are speaking of my emperor here, I would have no qualm killing you to clean his name in exchange for my life, but I that would not serve his cause." Or something like that, don't have the exact words in mind except for the You' are speaking of my emperor here.
Regula doesn't come across as disloyal, nor does he seem to only be in it for himself. He already acknowledges directly in the Sea of Clouds that the WoL is responsible for defeating Gaius. It makes no sense for Regula to throw his life away - hence a tactical retreat. Nor does it make him a coward, for that matter. We know the WoL is shrouded in plot armour - alongside the bulk of the Scions, too. I do think he'll betray the Emperor, though - but likely due to being corrupted by the Triad. There's a lot of similar pieces in place to pull off a certain scenario from FF6, but I imagine they'll go with a twist rather than just make Regula exactly like Kefka. Much like how Nael was inspired by Sephiroth but very different. As for Regula bragging? He's prideful, yes, but he's hardly as arrogant as the Scions/WoL are.
This is a good point, gaius and nael have several military victories and are essentially national icons to garelmald, hence their distinguished titles, gaius in particular is probably looked up to a lot in the empire, What every young garlean soldier wants to be. Nael was more infamous due to having a few screws loose.
It was meant to be part of the Main Story, hence why it is a solo instance. But FFXIV Devs separated the warring triad from story to allow people to experience it on their own terms.
@@coldReactive Is there any evidence of this? There have been solo instances in side content before (the class/job quests come to mind) so is there anywhere they say that this was meant to be main story?
This is a lesson all villains should learn. Never turn to help the good guys. Once you do that, you'll immediately die a sacrificial death.
And I'll whine about it.
This was one of those moments where Final Fantasy XIV felt like a true JRPG again. I hope they add the ability to replay solo instances like this in a future update.
And lo, YoshiP and the dev team added NewGame+, and declared it, and it was good. There was much rejoicing.
The only problem with these solo quests is that you can't repeat them. God damn I want another shot at this one.
ikr?
New Game+ Has got your back. :3
@@Skijaramaz Isn't NG+ MSQ only? Because if I recall this was part of the Warring Triad Questline...

Well well!
One of my favorite area themes gets turned into a boss theme.
I am perfectly okay with this.
Best remix of azys lla/10

This fight goes to show how strong your character has grown.
Before you had to take on Regula 4 against 1, now you get to face him in a 1 on 1 duel.
For "Dungeon" reasons, you go against Regula the first time 4 on 1. Canonically, you're inside the Facility alone. Just as you take on Thordan and his knights all by yourself too. Most of your feats if not all of them during the Heavensward MSQ canonically it's you completely alone.

The best part of getting SMN to 70? Hearing this track in the final battle again.
I wish there was a way to repeat this solo battle. It was pretty different fron any other thus far and, gosh, this music...
I wish we could repeat solo battles in general...
It's called "He who continues the attack."
This sounds like Heavy Gauge from Dynasty Warriors 4 a mid way through. Man its awesome. the background riff only sounds like it before anyone jumps on me.
Any mix of Azys Lla and Fractal will be an instant master piece - hence this.
I wish we could have gotten a roll of music from this quest
rip regula ;_;
RIP in pieces.

Troll God Terumi spoiler they did
In the background around 0:20 to 0:25 you can hear a bit of Alexander’s Boss Theme, also the start has a huge Persona 5 vibe to it imo
Summoner job quest: Best boss ever.
The setting, the music, the little taunt of the boss.
Everything just flew together perfectly.
i think this one called "He who continuous to attack"
You have no idea how long i have been trying to find this song
5.4 brought back the song.....
...in the practice instance 😁😁😁
Poor Regula, getting his theme snatched by a NODE.
Even more insulting when Regula actually shows up in the next fight.
Found out this theme plays in Palace of the Dead 51+. Only ran the first 10 floors, but it played. Still need this to be an orchestrion or something.
NPC party is probably foreshadowing the Grand Company Mercenarys we will be getting so we can do Dungeons, trials unsynced without parties
at least we will be able to farm the desired gear we want for vanity now without worry of others needing it.
The true endgame
Wait, that's happening??? I've been wanting that forever!!!!
+orrthehunter but it will kinda break the whole party purpose of the game, ultimately breaking apart the mmo...
