Could call such games "Candidate Games" then at the end of the year we can vote on all the games in the category for the viewer's game of the year :)
That would confuse a lot of people since the Candidates are coming up very soon
It would be potentially confusing to name it Candidates, but the idea is good. Just need a different name.
May be call it something benign like "outstanding game".
Or maybe just keep it simple and call it "game of the month" and then at the end of each year we choose the game of the year between the game of the month

I think people like this as the game of the year because it reminds them of their own games. Definitely saw some things here that you don't often see out of 2,000+ rated players in classical chess.

regarding the position has never been reached before, always wondered is it:
1. the position has never been reached in this move order
2. this exact placement of the pieces has never been reached
Good post. Pragg “won” a draw to eventually win a match in a recent tournament where he called the arbiter over and got the 3 fold repetition rule invoked because it was a repetition of the position, even though move order was different.
Logically, it should be 2.
@@LukeLongboneOfficial that’s a different subject that his comment which was on Games played and that I guess are logged wherever between GMs in important games where the position has never been reached because now a player has introduced a move that was never played in any previous games

Intense Game a lot of touchy situations Black gave it his best shots early but White was able to get his king to safety and apply his own offensive pressure once he won Blacks Queen I’m sure he felt game was in the bag tough positions in this game Thanks for the Game Enjoy your day

This game can be called "Gem of March 2024: Tale of the fit king and the fat bishop"
(signifying how active the white king was throughout the game while white's dark square bishop almost never moved until the later part of the game even when it had plenty of opportunities to move before).
Does there any possibility for white to win the rook from the last position where white move queen instead of giving check and harras the black king? Just want to know and learn something
Basically being up a Queen against a Rook there’s a large advantage as Antonio showed you can keep checking the king with your Queen and find an angle at some point where you fork the king and Rook and become able to capture the Rook it’s why Black resigned for most part
kinda fits in the Sorcery series in my opinion, with the courageous opening etc.

Scintillating chess. Very different from where I came into chess in the sixties when much fewer variations were played at the top level. And there were an awful lot of drawers. Instead of killing the game, the engines show that there are a lot more possibilities than were previously imagined. Dare to be different!

With billions of such rich and complex positions still on offer in "classic" chess, at the highest levels after a handful of opening moves, it strikes me as the height of human arrogance for anyone to claim that chess960 is somehow "better".
“Perennial Games” could be a good name for a collection of games you feel are formidable but not exactly legendary. It’s not the greatest game of the year but it is certainly nothing less than sublime - a game that portrays chess at its finest and is indeed a timeless and enjoyable match featuring perennial play.
All my games are decidedly deciduous.
"Savchenko's First Humdinger" as this saves "Savchenko's Immortal" for a later game and plants the seeds for more humdingers!

Hi ! Regarding the "we have a completely new game" I wanted to share a couple of doubts : if you present an old game , for example in the year1950, the new game upon reaching a position is for that year ? but what happens to the same position years after that game is played ? Also , if you reach a new position but in 1 or 2 more moves the game goes back to known territory , is that an option to mention in the videos ?

Yes the lower rated players might find a really good theorerical novelty but they might not know it. Some of my best games were theoretical novelties that I very soon afterwards realized were not Good Theorerical Novelties. Well, once I copied an explanation of a Korchnoi miniature game to the letter but that does not count.
I think you should do a game like this monthly and call it Medo’s pick of month! 😊
White won with a ton of luck. Unfortunately, Black could not bring his attack home, but if there was any beauty in this game, it came from Sindarov.

I like the idea of having a game of the month. Or a peoples's game-of-the-year candidate to avoid the monthly cadence and at the end of the years subscribers get to vote.

I think the names should be Categories, and by YEAR they happened. 20yrs from now, you can go back and look at the 2024 Sacrifices, 2024 Gambits, 2024 Positions, 2024 Tactics..
Then at the END of the year, you can review all of them, and choose:
2024 Game of the year.
2024 Sacrifices of the year.
2024 Gambits of the year.
... The Best of ...

I think it builds depth to the channel. Then every decade 2030 is only 6 yrs away, we can do the DECADE series. Rehashing any such games for special consideration.
This was a really chaotic game, wow! And it could be called game of the month but Wei Yi vs Max Warmerdam remains the game of the year for me.
The whole idea is to look at chess games like Uber drivers. Games like these would get a "5 Star Rating". After a while, we'll end up with a playlist of games known as the "5 Star Club".
