    Vidit is either winning or losing. He's clear about his strategy. He's not messing around forcefully drawing the games like a few other players who prefer to do so.

    Vidit is a nightmare for attackers like Hikaru and Dubov . he can defend extremely well and if your attack fizzles out , he is bound to punish you .

      Dubov's attack barely fizzles out . Like 1 in every 5 games . He'll lose badly or demolish you but his games will never bore you since he keeps sacrificing pieces ,playing unconventional lines , taking opponents by surprise and not playing those easy engine moves

    I was pretty convinced that Firouzja would convert that game into a victory, but Nepo ended up not faltering after playing only best moves.

      that's the thing, you have to qualify for this one. Not an invitation tournament.

    That critical capture of the knight on e5. You mentioned that most players would look at knight capturing instead of the bishop. But if you look at the position, white's bishop on c3 was his weakest piece, almost hanging, so why wouldn't you start the exchange with it

    I didn't like naka's opening, and once he sac'd that pawn for nothing, deja vu. Remember when he blew the advantage against ding in the previous candidates? Naka choked again, losing to vidit twice. Unlikely to recover from this loss.

    I feel like Hikaru doesn’t respect Vidit in the same way he respects other players in the tournament, and that’s why Vidit keeps pulling off upsets. He feels like he ought to win, and jumps straight into ugly positions without analyzing all of the threats super carefully.
