Anand spotting such a strong move that could probably win the game so casually while commenting just shows why he is one of the best ever to do it. He could probably still play in the candidates and at least not finish last. Man’s a genius.
He could probably still play in the candidates and might win.....correct your statement bro.
I watched it live ..the line is not wining and he missed Alireza top engine move which was better than Anands line and Nepo defense afterwards when Alireza played g6 ..not that Anand isn't strong but you make it seem there was a wining line when there wasn't all game
@@sarvenderrawat9069 he said it because bcoz of the age factor...otherwise anand would have defeated em anyday
Well you realize your knowledge of the game keeps increasing right? He’s a former world champion, not like he’d just forget how to play
Anand can't compete with kasparov and karpov
I remember once Alireza complained to Arbiter against Magnus that Magnus distracted him by mumbling something in his(magnus) native language.
And it turned out to be bullshit as there was footage from that game and Magnus clearly did not talk or make any sound. I suspect it's a similar situation here.

I don't think the arbiter had much choice but to ask Alireza to walk softly.

The chief arbiter work is to handle these issues, u can't threaten someone doing his job with "i'll make an appeal" unless they did something really wrong and abused their power, also last time I checked twitter was not the official place to perform an appeal about FIDE tournament, going straight to the media skipping all the official process is 100% an emotional choice and not formal or to be more specific (unprofessional)
It is how and when he decided to handle it. It was a critical position, it wasn't a problem in any other round and I understand it was due Abasov's complaint but still - can't you handle it a little bit better?
alireza is still young, he will learn and evolve in chess and in his maturity
Alireza always struck me as a very emotional player with some ego problems. I remember During the previous candidate's after a defeat he spent several hours late into the night playing bullet games with Daniel Naroditsky so he could probably feel better about himself by beating a lower-ranked player (which ended up affecting his performance the following day). I know he is young, but other younger players like Pragg, Gukesh, or Abdusattorov never seen to have these sort of issues
@@markdowding5737 That's it! Emotions and handling pressure is what REALLY separeted Magnus from his peers. He's always focused, never gets distracted by anything whatsoever. Younger players should learn that too.

"Accepted" 😂
The arbiter refuted it perfectly.
The fact that Alireza walked softly after the chief arbiters warning explains it all😂😂
I don't blame the Arbiter for the action he took, but it does seem like the tournament organizers missed an opportunity to maintain a quiet place. Players shouldn't have to worry about how they are walking.
for sure. the whole spiel about "fixed his walk to not distract others" is so dumb. if you have to make a conscious effort to tip toe on the floor(distracting yourself) than maybe they need to cover it with a mat like they do in the playing area.
I was watching from the balcony and did notice the loud noise of his shoes and walking
@@borgirvspitsah7329 you also do not slam the chess pieces onto the chess board like a caveman and expect that the organizers should have taken care of it to not it to make a noise

Wow I just noticed that Vidit and Alireza both made a brilliant sac of rook in same square.
Nice observation! Exchange sac, btw.
Nice of you to show both sides!

😂
Nice. I didn't notice that the first time.
Perhaps the reaction by Firouzja has more to do with his performance in this candidates tournament than a perceived attack on his concentration.
I agree.
My thoughts exactly. I think he's frustrated.
I also agree. Not a mature behavior
Reminds of when I taught high school in the late 70s / early 80s. I always wore cowboy boots. One time when I was returning to my classroom, walking down the hall, as I entered one young girl said, "Mr (HeartlandLiberal), you walk like you stomping roaches." Alireza was clearly in the wrong, since a player had just complained about him, and he adjusted his stride, and walked quietly after the incident with arbiter.
Simple solution: lay some thick pile carpet on the floor to muffle the footsteps. Unless the problem is Alireza's shoe squeaks when he walks, in which case he needs to change them. They might be official apparel, but not if they're in a defective condition.
Really appreciate that Agad never involves himself in taking sides over such controversial issues. He just shows both the sides and lets his viewers have a take themselves.
What a gentleman! 🙏
"One of the players complained about his shoes."
His swag is too different. The others can't handle it. He truly is Guccireza 👞👞🔥🔥🔥

Anand spots all of this without the engine being turned on. Missing him play
I feel like that arbiter handled the situation pretty well 🤷
People with a heavy walk in a restaurant bug me, so I can totally understand the other player(s) complaining. The arbiter handled it very well, methinks.
Is there any proof other players complained or did the arbiter bother the players when nobody complained?

Nobody likes any comments or complaints from Arbiter. Alierza was already not in good mood hanging at the bottom of the points table. He showed all his frustration on the Arbiter 😂😂😅
BS
Like professional boxers when the lose. Always blame someone else.
Still so young but that newly-traitorish-frenshirsh guuy has no credibility, just trying to check some light on himself and his magnus-like partners for such absolute disgrace on the board. Clown.
Love the time additions😊
i agree with the arbiter. i personally feel like alireza puts in a lot of effort and cares a lot about fashion. because of that, when the arbiter made a remark about his shoes being too loud, he got offended. i mean he's a kid
With the pawns like that it really felt like a draw very early even though eval bar was for Firouzas favour before and even after the rook sac.
This is a better channel cuz you explain everything on and off board
Why was I waiting on this match review from you so much despite watching it. I may not be addicted to this channel but something keeps me coming back for the "good stuff"
I love how cameras position make it look like Antonio interviewed the ref himself
Arbiter was spot on.. but cut some slack for firoz a too. It was an intense position
Agad, I'm enjoying your coverage a ton. Wondering if you could cover more games per round, if that is possible?
The chief arbiter was 100% in informing Alireza since there was already a complaint made by one of the players.
Anand to even suggest that move just shows how capable he is in joining the Candidates.
it's not Alireza's fault that they failed to carpet the area. It's their problem to fix.
Thanks ❤
The organizers should have just placed a carpet in the area of concern instead of such intrusion.... poor choice
"As you should in every game." 😆
Oh those stompish Gucci's
“He’s taller than me” 😂😂
They should add more carpets, and Anand's idea was a nice one...!
Alireza is just trying to find an outlet for his frustration in a tournament where he's seriously underperforming.
Quiet that jacket too.
First the clock malfunction and now the wardrobe malfunction. Lol this are stacked up against Ian.
The chief arbiter is such a decent man, it’s hard to find any fault in his conduct. How can you be angry with a guy like that?
The arbiter did a great job of explaining what happened. Unless Firouzja disputes any of the facts it seems that he handled the incident perfectly and Firouzja needs to focus more on his chess and less on getting upset and making excuses.
I do wear the same boots like Alireza's at work and at dates, they do make noise on hard floors like not just wood, but on ceramic as well. They look more formal than my sports shoes which they're softer & quieter. And yes, more carpeting is needed for anywhere whenever the players go. Abasov isn't having a great tournament and he is wanting to do his best with minimal distraction. No one is to blame here, it's a rare accident and every GMs in the hall & behind the screens will take note on this incident in future tournaments to learn and improve.
Regarding the Alireza-Chief Arbiter situation, obviously not the best timing, but the chief arbiter approached it as well as it could have been in the present moment. Sucks for Alireza, but maybe this will prevent a more serious issue down the road. For example, imagine that happened in Round 14, that would have been much worse.
"Wahhhh, adult made me walk quieter for the better concentration of other players, wahhh, man evil, now I can't play 😭😭😠😠"
That's what he sounds like.
I work in a factory as an assembly worker, where it is quite noisy, and even without seeing my boss, I know when he entered the hall because he wears elegant shoes like Alireza. It is a characteristic and loud sound. Such shoes often have a very hard sole.
The title is like a big bang theory episode lol😂
Thx
Hearing the chief arbiter explain also how he approached Alireza in order to avoid any abrudt interruption of his flow of thought shows how considerate he is about every single chess player. Even though he has the responsability to follow up a complaint from another player he also wants to do it in a way least harmful as possible to Alireza too
Its wild somebody zoomed in for a pic of Alireza's chess boots
The arbiter seemed reasonable. Also in the game I'm glad I saw the pawn move blocking in the bishop. :)
Organizers' oversight for requiring what I assume are leather soles and for not installing thick carpeting
it's not an oversight, it's just diva behavior by Alireza, he always find something to complain about when he is not having a good tournament.
That suit would make me bilious. Call the arbiter!
Nijat may be the weakest in this tournament, but that doesn't mean he hasn't got the right to complain against such a disturbance. Not to forget the great Bobby Fischer had the World Championship match against Spassky shifted to a Ping Pong Ball room bcoz he was distracted by the sound of a CAMERA.
Really, only people that have been under pressure to perform very well are qualified to answer that question. So there's something called the "flow state" that can be very hard to get into. Others will call this mental state "the zone". When in the zone, you are capable or doing monumental feats that you would normally not have been able to. You can be taken out the zone by the simplest actions though. That's why you see some teams calling time outs in competitive sports to try to disrupt the flow, or momentum, of a game. It's why some dealers at casinos will tell some craps players that get too hot to stop throwing the dice too high, or too low or just differently altogether.
So when Alireza was asked to "stop walking so loud" or whatever it was, it didn't even have to be about his walking. It could of been a question or request about anything and that's all you need to take somebody out the flow state because now he's not completely focused on the game. Also, why couldn't that have waited after the game as well? Why during the game? Why not before the game? Delicate situations like these need to be handled appropriately and not in such a cretinous way.
I agree, but I dont' think it could have waited until after the game. There was already a complaint by one of the players. Before the game, Alireza had his shoes approved- I think that's when gets messy. Why should he have to change wardrobe if it was approved? At the very least, I think going forward they will have to implement either harsher wardrobe rules or install carpets.
If shoes are approved and there is no law about how to walk , then that's it. It is not his problem. They were morons to choose this floor and rhey should tKe responsibility not throwing it on others.
I was just watching the candidates tournament and Alireza's father was kicked out the hall for whatever reason, and they're also saying it wasn't his shoes making loud noise but it was the style in which he was walking. Keep in mind that it's not only a critical moment in his game but a critical moment in the entire tournament. I just wish we just see 100% chess and no outside interference during games.
@@xChefJesusx If it is not shoes then why this arbiter said bing another shoes tomorrow? Also we have no rules for type of walking. Same people criticizing him for saying Magnus distracted him now say arbiter was right? If the games need to be placedd in separate rooms do it but we cannot say to players how to walk. A nina can walk 100% soundless even with shoes but it is not normal walk.
We all know how Guccireza is walking.
g6 by white in the hypothetical line would actually be such an Alphazero move. It would be like the immortal zugzwang game Alpha played against Stockfish
Of course Alireza has a heavy walk, look at his usual footware from 2:20 on in the video titled "Magnus Carlsen arrives in an upbeat mood for a must-win game | Freestyle Chess 2024".. 🙃
(ps:. for some reason I am not able to paste links)
Alireza is such a Diva, my god!
Stupid comment
While I like Pragg and I am rooting for him and a few others, his playing with the chair can be a bit distracting for his opponents. Hopefully it does not become an issue. At this level something like squeaky shoes can upset the concentration of players and Arbiter is doing the right thing. I guess informing ahead of the game may be better but then players arrive just before the game which may not surface the issue.
The arbiter make his job and were right to intervene
Alireza might be right that the arbiter’s action distracted him, but the arbiter‘s action seems to be perfectly justified, because both he (the arbiter) and a player (Abusatov) were disturbed by the noise Alireza was making by walking indiscreetly, before he corrected the way he walked.
He should make sure not to cause annoyance to other players and arbiter, which he accidentally failed to do, so it’s his responsibility, the arbiter did the right thing, it seems.
Did not distract him, the arbiter talked to him in the refreshment area not while he was at the board making a move, and also the artiber didn't even interrupt him in the refreshment area and waited for Alireza to acknowledge him first, so yeah definitely there was no distraction ,Alireza is just a whiny baby whining cause he is not performing well.
How hard is it to consider the type of flooring before the tournament and lay down carpet or a rug? Seems like an easy thing to anticipate if you know the players will want a quiet environment. Definitely an oversight by Fide or the venue organizers.
What does it mean to represent fide?
#suggestion it would be really nice if you could cover a couple of the women's candidates tournament as well! It's happening at the same time and in the same location as the men's, yet we are barely hearing anything about it. But I bet there are beautiful games on the other side of the battlefield as well 😎
*a couple of games from the women's candidates, sorry my sentence is missing a few words there hahaha
Sad think...and according to the arbiter's speach i cannot shake out the feeling, that it was not unintentional. AF is just 0,5 p ahead of Abasov and so far it looks like, it will be battle to avoid last place between those two. In combination with the way AF quolified and some other rumors, it does not throw him into good light....
If the shoes were fide approved its a problem that needs to be taken up with them and not during the game
Quite a battle, on and off the board! Off, not intended. it's just the way it is.
Any distraction...
Arbiter should have just deflected - apologize for interrupting and say the venue is echoey so we are asking all players to please walk softly to minimize disruption. Suggesting new shoes was too much. Event should have a carpet put in if it continues to be an issue.
Yea, no one other than the organizers has control over creeky floors. It’s not the player’s responsibility, FIDE shifting the responsibility to players (especially people such as myself who walk heavier) is really unprofessional and unfair. FIDE should upgrade the venue full stop.
The shoes speak for themselves.
Instead of speaking to Alireza, I would have put my finger to my pursed lips in a classic silent "shush" gesture. I have to do this frequently in my recording studio.
Sounds like the arbiter was more than reasonable and very considerate.
Dunno what I love more:
1. King walk to the other side of the board… mid-game
2. Stomping refreshment walk that disturbs players… mid-game
Instead of interfering mid game, they could sent someone to fetch a carpet to cover that area to remove the noise.
Right....so further proof that Alireza neither is ready for the big time, nor that he should've qualified (by organising fake tournaments) ahead of Wesley So. Pity that Wesley isn't there, he would've raised the level of competition significantly.
Don't stomp!
Let the floor squeak for itself!
It's sad watching Alireza's shift into particular set of players including Niemann, Inarkiev and so on. One could think that what he did before the candidates to Wesley was because of sheer and more or less honest desire to play, but now everything's clear.
He shoud have borrowed Magnus' opponents watch, then we could have some real fireworks 😅
In my opinion arbiter is right all he did was based on Codes , Alireza made a big mistake when he decided to exchange his night with Nepos bishop , now a days players don't play positional chess specially alireza , when there is a huge blocked by pawns knight is superior to bishop.
While everyone else was preparing for their openings and games, I guess Alireza was busy preparing for which clothes he would wear in which game. And which better tournament to showcase your clothes collection than the candidates!
He had the same shoes in every round and nobody had a problem with that. Funny coincidence.
@@mariuszpudzianowski8400 Then we need to find the reason why arbiter hates him so much! Or may be arbiter was just doing his job, but the crybaby parrot was just green with envy today! Who knows what would colour his mind tomorrow.
He didn't reach the top of the top level without working he took Ian out of his preparation and almost beat him but didn't find the right plan, seriously it doesn't take that long to choose your clothes so you're just trolling for nothing, you say he's too interested in his clothes but it's you who makes a big deal out of it every time instead of shutting your f*ing mouth because fashion doesn't interest you anyway

You know Abasov is going to be popping his gum and cracking his knuckles in his upcoming match against Alireza.
..."if you only came for that"!?
Well, I have hated that socalled Great Hall arena. They could have had a more spacious area.
Alireza's father was kicked out of Rd 10 gallery for disruptive behavior. This is getting good.
8:33 What does it mean when they say, "Time control has been reached" ?
Players get extra 30 mins after 40moves are played
"Softer walking after a soundful walk"...yeah that's more like Firouzja Gambit!!
Very well explained by the arbiter. I wish referees in football did the same with their decisions. It would help so much.
I fully support and believe the Arbiter. I bet Alireza was stomping about in some gawky Versace boots in a huff cuz he gave up a winning position again.
The chief arbiter acknowledging that Firouzja made a complaint to the chief arbiter, him, and wondering whether he made a complaint, doesn't speak for the arbiter.
Have the tourneys on grass courts 😂😂😂 and why does the room look so congested ??
Any clip of the boot stomping available? Would put this controversy to bed. Fwiw, arbiter sounds quite reasonable.
I had Anand's idea. Same reason. Matter fact, I assumed Alireza would do it and was wondering how he managed to lose (assuming he did -- i haven't reached the end of the video yet, but the thing with the shoes implies a complaint, which implies a loss). Maybe Alireza was looking too hard for a win and didn't see the possible activity on the Queenside? Nah -- if I can see it, he can see it. Game 10 of Carlsen -- Karjakin where I saw the "obvious" draw, flipped my computer off only to learn the next day that Carlsen had won ("how????") is not going to repeat itself. Maybe the shoe thing is true. Because the game after g6 is really not hard to calculate: Black is tied up, White's target is obvious, he's got all the time in the world to set it up perfectly, so it calculates more like an endgame position: you just move the pieces in your head to their eventual targets, and then look at what happens after the breakthrough on the queenside. Bad arbiter!
He is in fault for wearing those heavy shoes. Arbitrator just doing his job
Anand's idea seems genius. Can see why he's the world champ.
I think the arbiter handled the situation very well. Received a complaint, observed and offered suggestions to solve the problem.
What is interesting to me though is how nervous the arbiter seemed to be. Was it because he was being interviewed, feared some kind of reprisal from Alireza, or as he mentioned his posturing actually shook him?
