This was their first ever single in '89, so , yes Jay, it's original singer Sebastian Bach here. When you come back to them, suggest trying "Monkey Business" or "Slave To the Grind".
Yes grew up in the 80's it was a decade of driving everyone crazy are parents are teachers our police. Had so much fun listening to all the hair bands and Metal bands. With our ghetoblasters lol. No cell phones just lots of fun.
I was 8 yrs old listening to this tape and singing every word. Some of the older kids, teens in my neighborhood were definitely the "youth gone wild". My wife who is twelve years older than me, was 20 at the time and still remembers rocking out to Skid Row.
Can't go wrong with any classic Skid Row. Baz just has the voice that will make your armchairs stand up. AmaIng vocalist. Checkout some of his solo work too such as Temptation or Tunnelvision.
You two do such an awesome job! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us and keep on rocking!! Bulletboys - Smooth Up In Ya. Badlands - Dreams In The Dark, Winter's Call. Savatage - Gutter Ballet. Tora Tora - Walkin' Shoes. Dangerous Toys - Teas'n Pleas'n
This was my defining song. I felt this and dedicated my life to never get in line and shut my mouth. I am 60 years old in 3 months and still stand behind this song as my anthem.
51 years old…I was 17 and dressed just like this….caused a lot of trouble, cause i was tired of being judged for my long hair, and torn jeans…followed by security at the mall lol
Skid Row was SO good!! I love how y'all instinctively understand and appreciate my generation. The music, the culture, everything! We thought we were the kings of everything and I guess we were in so many ways. I love these reactions.
You've covered most of Skid Row's biggest hits. I Remember You, 18 and Life (which Amber should hear), and Wasted Time. Now Youth Gone Wild. Next should be Monkey Business and Piece of Me.
Are we really going to ignore the fact when Rob first heard the music, he said the opening line to the song without having ever heard it before?? “Ooooh Yeahhhh.” 5 seconds later Sebastian opens with, “Ooooh Yeahhhh.” 😂😂😂
Agreed!!! I know they've reacted to I Will Remember You video but they definitely need to react to the live version. That live and I Saw Red by Warrent are two of the best live videos in my opinion.
Thank you Jay & Amber so much for reacting to this.Absolute banger.Skid Row did come in late.(1989) pass the point of the glam period Though he's not with the band anymore he can still hit those high notes
Generation X baby. I swear this is the most jacked song I know. The first song on my work out playlist, I can testify this song makes you run faster on the treadmill than you’re naturally capable of.
I was 15, when this song and video came out in December 1988. After the video debuted, MTV's switchboard lit up with countless people requesting it. This song was the public's introduction to Skid Row, and their first two albums would be stuff we would indulge in for many years to come! Cheers from northeast Ohio.
I was 19 yrs old when this came out. Seen them the following summer opening up for Aerosmith. The 80's was by far the best decade to grow up in. The concerts were amazing. Back then we didn't have the internet. The only way you could hear songs were either buying the cassette or catching it on the radio and only way to see them was catching the video on MTV, when it actually played music videos. All we did was go to concerts
YES! And yes, he really did sound that great live back then! Great band all around. You should hear this song live if you want to hear a real anthem chorus because WE sang the chorus with them and yelled out SKID ROW in that one line.
I’ll never forget working at a grocery store when I was 16 stocking an aisle one night when a co-worker ran in waving his Skid Row album and telling everyone how big these guys were gonna be. That was almost 35 years ago 🤯
" Monkey business" from Skid row is good too 😊 Let me suggest another " Hair metal" band from this era( late 80s early 90s) that always got a lot of hate from the metal community. The band is Enuff Z Nuff and their songs are " Fly High Michelle" and " New Thing" there's more but my old self can't think of them Lmao 😂 PS When Ya'll get to some Christmas songs later on might I suggest " Christmas is a time to say I love you" by Billy Squier
Today's music will never top what we had. I know it's a whole new generation, but they lack originality and vocal mastering that the past decades brought. We'll never have the greatest music again. But the younger generation revisits it and finds out what greatness truly was.
Yes, we were the youth gone wild. Late nights, loud parties and concerts like this just about every weekend in Chicago. I would not sell those memories for anything. Still the long hair and leather jacket...for life. You really need to check out Dangerous Toys. They were one of my favorite bands from the 1980's. Maybe look at the song "Sticks & Stones".
Knew you'd love it Rob Squad! Glad you finally got to their debut hit. I was in 10th grade when this came out, and they hit BIG. We loved them and cranked them in our cars at lunch time. Skid Row is one the bands I unfortunately never got to see live. I know they rocked, so that hurts a little.
I've seen a lot of bands live but Skid Row really rocked HARD & put on a great show back in the late 80s & early 90s, prob 2 of the best gigs I've seen were those guys. I was 15 when i first saw them, amazing night!
If you want a new hair band to react, I'd recommend "Nelson Brothers", they are sons of Ricky Nelson and have some nice songs to react to like "After the Rain", "I can't live (without your love and affection), "More Than Ever" and some others.
Y'all need to react to monkey business by skid row to me it's one of their best and if you really want to hear Sebastian scream that is the one. I emailed the suggestion to you all a while back and you said you were going to do it but.... Lol
The 80's can't be beat. The music and movies will never be matched. I'm happy to say I lived in that time and enjoyed every note of all this music. On cassette no less! :) Keep rockin the 80's metal. You won't be disappointed.
Tora Tora is another good band from this genre. I don't think you guys have done them yet? Walking Shoes or Phantom Rider would be good songs to start with.
For me…if any one song defined our generation for us metal head kids…it was this one….man, we stood up against authority…I remember once I was at the mall, long hair, leather jacket…torn jeans…and security followed me everywhere…my friends showed up, we were in a band, and security stopped us and told us we had to leave, we couldn’t be hanging around….we ignored them, went to the food court, ate some pizza and went to the arcade…and when we left, my bass player gave them the middle finger lol….man those were good days! I was 17!
Love the reaction. Saw them in concert in 1989 when they opened for Bon Jovi. On a different note - you really should react to Jamiroquai “Virtual insanity”. Do the video version if possible. You won’t regret it.
Great song, great band! Next check out Lightnin’ Strikes Again by Dokken! George Lynch is the guitarist, one of the best around! Rockin with Dokken! ✌️🤘🎸
Fool For Your Lovin - Whitesnake. J/a been about a year since your last Whitesnake reaction and confident both of you will like this jammin banger from them.
Very under-rated band is Shotgun Messiah...song: "I don't care about nothin" or, from their second album "Second Coming" a song called (Heartbreak Blvd). Really good stuff! Thank you for what you do!
And Johnny Solinger, was the 2nd lead singer for Skid Row. I worked with him at the City of Denton swimming pool. He was a lifeguard there. And would very often get on the P.A. and showcase his vocal talent. Dude was an amazing friend. No longer than I was around him. RIP JS
I thought Thickskin with him on vocals was a pretty good album. Perhaps not typical SR, but good nevertheless. Sorry to hear of his passing a few years ago.
Glad you both enjoyed this! I love how open you guys are to such a diverse range of music. "Monkey Business" is another great Skid Row song you could react to.
One of the greatest debut albums !!! A few others from the 80’s that you’ve not yet looked at would be Bulletboys -Smooth up in ya, Accept - Balls to the Wall, D.A.D - Sleeping my day away and Sleeze Beez - Stranger than Paradise. All great bands with a nice library of hits !!
This band was one that came outvin 1989 that just caught the ears immediately!!! Sebastian Bach is the lead singer. My co worker Lisa used to have me sing this constantly back then .
Sébastien Bach the lead singer is a Canadian from Ontario and a fantastic voice. The band is from New Jersey and when they heard him sing he was invited to join them but yes he is a proud Canadian
@tomstockley7055 Yes, he is. I knew . Appreciate your information on that . The old rocker loves all the Canadian bands. Favourite one is Bachman Turner Overdrive.
If you want another great rebellious song, check out a band called: Babylon AD. Song; "The Kid goes wild". They're such an underrated hair metal band from the time, and the song is straight fire!! Will definitely get you pumped up! It even features the late great Sam Kinison. May he rest in peace. 🤘😎
Kick Ass tune by a fantastic band. The lyrics for this song are awesome! This gets the blood going and Sabastian hits hard vocally on this. "I say hey man there's something you outta know, I tell you Park Avenue leads to...SKID ROW". As someone in my early twenties this was an anthem that kicked parties into high gear and got everyone pumped. Flip the middle finger to the establishment.
This is my music. Loved Skid Row. Great musicians. Baz is just an amazing front man. From Peterborough Ontario Canada. 🇨🇦 saw them in concert in 1989. They opened for Bon Jovi. They blew BonJovi away. Bon Jovi sucked live. Skid Row stole the show. Amazing band. ❤
You must have caught them on a bad night. I also caught that tour in Wichita, Kansas. You're right about Skid Row. That concert was my introduction to the band (lived in the country, couldn't get cable, thus no MTV). I knew less than a minute into their show that I was going to town the following day to buy Skid Row's album. But on the night I was there, Bon Jovi certainly didn't suck. I've been to somewhere around 70-80 shows in my lifetime, and that Bon Jovi show would still be in my top five.
I saw them on that tour. I was 14, and my mom took me. The thing was Bon Jovi had a fairly clean reputation (whether or not it was earned). So there were a lot of children in the stadium. There was a troop of Brownies sitting five rows in front of us. Skid Row comes out and SB just starts dropping F-bombs every other word. I laugh now, but she still hates them for that. Bon Jovi was good, but she was livid and ruined the vibe of the evening.
Right after basic training in the Air Force I bought an enormous boom box and this Skid Row album was one of the first tapes I bought for it. I know that the folks in my dorm at tech school had to be sick of me blasting Skid Row.
THIS song was the anthem for us Gen X'ers. Yes I agree with Amber, Gen X was the generation that decided to do things differently, challenge the "establishment" and do our own thing no matter what people thought
In the 80s, we didn’t care about being offended, we spoke our minds, spoke our truth, we were the generation who played football out in the street and tackled each other on the concrete…we rode our skateboards where we were told we couldn’t…we had scars and scabs all over our arms, legs and face…when we played dodgeball in gym, we aimed for the face….we were the youth gone wild…our music was the same…we sang about, girls, sx…destruction, anti govt, anti authority, we wanted to be who we were…and if you accepted that, we were good, if not, we didn’t care…just leave us alone. Those were the days!
You guys still have plenty to do. Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force or Black Star Keel - The Right To Rock TNT - Seven Seas Autograph - Turn Up The Radio Krokus - Screaming in the Night Vinie Vincent Invasion - Boys Are Gonna Rock Lizzy Borden - Me Against The World Crimson Glory - Red Sharks Grim Reaper - Rock You To Hell Hurricane - Over The Edge Killer Dwarfs - Stand Tall Nelson - After The Rain Trixter - One In A Million Loudness - Crazy Nights Leatherwolf - The Calling
You must do more Y&T! You’ve only heard them once, but they have so many more kick-ass, face melting songs to check out. Listen to Hurricane, Dirty Girls, Open Fire, Black Tiger, Barroom Boogie, Forever, Mean Streak, Midnight In Tokyo, Hang ‘em High, Don’t Stop Runnin’, Lipstick and Leather, Rock and Roll Is Gonna Save The World and many, many others
Some Hair Band or 80’s suggestions for you would be Slade- Run Run Away or My Oh My, Power Station cover of Bang A Gong or Murderess, Poison Fallen Angel, Cinderella Gypsy Road, or REO Speedwagon Can’t Fight This Feeling, Journey Stone in Love
This was their first ever single in '89, so , yes Jay, it's original singer Sebastian Bach here.
When you come back to them, suggest trying "Monkey Business" or "Slave To the Grind".
Monkey Business is my favorite.
Dam, Slave to the Grind is a really good one too. I just posted the link for Monkey Business before I even read your reply.
Slave to the grind is my fave.
Both those tunes are absolute bangers!👍
🤘🏻

They won't thank you for calling them a hair band 😊 but it was a great reaction to a great song.
Definitely check out "18 and Life" off the same album. . . One of They're best songs.
Jay will love this one!
You guys never did Twisted Sister “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, did you? Similar theme to this one, hilarious video. You’ve gotta see it!
This song still kicks ass all these years later!!! ❤❤❤
One of my all time favorite tracks....Glad you guys liked it...Monkey Business is another BANGER!!!

Sebastian has always had such a GREAT voice and phenominal scream.
Check out their song Wasted Time. Perhaps Sebastian’s finest vocal performance
They did that one already
Check him out on the Masked Singer tonight. He hasn't been unmasked yet, but it's obviously him
Agreed
@@sparkyth67as a daily follower of this channel, I am ashamed i didn’t know that

Yup, tinny
Sounds messed up
No issues...yet.
It's not just you.
I miss the 80's so much. I would go back in a heartbeat. And yes we were the last of the rebels.
If you want anther great 80s rock anthem, try “Rock you like a hurricane “ by The Scorpions. Epic!!!
Youth Gone Wild is one of the unquestioned anthems informing what it felt like growing up in the 80s.
This was my defining song. I felt this and dedicated my life to never get in line and shut my mouth. I am 60 years old in 3 months and still stand behind this song as my anthem.
I turn 60 next month & I agree with you. The 1980's had the best music , best hair bands, & best anthems.
I'm 45 and I'm the same. This was my teenage anthem in the early 90's when everyone else was listening to grunge.

“Park Avenue leads to skid row” is one of the best lines ever written about the 80s.

Don't Mess with Gen X. Just another one of our Amazing Gen X anthems screaming our battle cry of LEAVE US ALONE. You don't like us.... we dont care
Are we really going to ignore the fact when Rob first heard the music, he said the opening line to the song without having ever heard it before?? “Ooooh Yeahhhh.” 5 seconds later Sebastian opens with, “Ooooh Yeahhhh.” 😂😂😂

True: 49 and agree.
pretty sure it was the Baby Boomer generation that was the first to do that, you know with the counterculture of the 60s and all.
@@GooseGumlizzardNo. the Boomers have basically taken everything and left nothing for their children of grandchildren
Absolutely. 💯😎🖤
I met a guy who had Sebastian Bach's entire 'Youth Gone Wild' forearm tattoo about 2 years after this album was released. He was a school bus driver.
So true!
