I give you huge respect for this honest review. Project Cars 3 is a pretty fun game on its own. Everyone else has just compared it to PC1 and PC2 and said it’s different so it sucks. But sometimes spin-off titles and different directions can make a refreshing entry in a series. If they roll out a god-tier racing sim in PC4 I’m sure all crowds will be happy then.
This is literally Need for Speed Shift 3. I had my first 5hr in two days and all I get is reminiscence of Shift 2 with the progress bar at the top minus the aggression factor( which is actually incentivized in Shift) followed by the markers in the mini map highlighting the track for perfect corner and total corners mastered. Hell even the chase came in straight road feels similar to the actual shift without the fancy blur or vignette around the screen and that wiggly effect(I loved that though) As a sim racing lover but also who doesn't own a sim setup, I have to say this game is the new Shift in modern graphics I always wanted. Allows me to relax and not worry much about tip of the point tuning. I Still would love a sim setup in the future but until then I am happy with the game. Steam shows it as a Mixed reviews... Trust me if this game was launched as a need for speed shift 3 people would have actually given it the positive feedback it deserves where it shines.... ARCADE SIM racer.
You are right in the first part, you are wrong in the second part. All gaming communities, all online communities have a really toxic side in them. You can't just make the asumption that because a portion of a community is toxic that the whole community is like that.

This game is a slap in the face to the fans who supported the 2 previous games. We wanted to see project cars grow as much as GT and they do this? It's a let down for me, and a worse downgrade than Grid.
Pc3 was dammed if it did or didn’t. It can’t hold up the best sims. They’ve repositioned. It was a risk for them. It will alienate many in the sim community. Some events are crap like the slow career early races. But get in those faster cars and woo. Rewarding I agree. Really growing on my now.
Like a lot of other Project CARS fans, I’ll be taking a pass on this one. It’s too bad SMS didn’t do what the DiRT series did: make DiRT Rally (1 & 2) a sim and make numbered DiRT games (4 & 5) more accessible for newer racers or those wanting a fun arcade game. They could have named this something like PCars: Grid and kept numbered games as a sim. That would have made most of us fans happy. But oh well, there’s still PCars 2 and ACC on the consoles. Maybe they’ll find their way again if this one doesn’t sell very well.
I am new to this game and I love it. I usually do custom races as I like to use any cars I want but I also like being able to fully customise and upgrade them too
They're are most definitely bad indeed 😓. A major step back visually. I went to this game with pretty good hopes (not as high as i would want but still high enough) and i only got that awful feeling of... Meeeeh whyyyy?! 😓😭. For example i like using the roof cam but reflections you get from the panels of the car are so pixelated that it feels your seeing a ps1 reflection. Is really that bad and so sad 😓. And the rest of the colours are really awfully bland in comparison to the other 2 entries 😓. I really really hope that SMS can fix this issue (and others unfortunately) in a near future and don't let this game fall into oblivion
@@andyjentsch8539 I honestly think that if this game had some really good visuals (console wise), not talking good as Gran Turismo but more like an upgrade of the PC2 console visuals or even the same for that matter... people wouldn't be so harsh with it and would give a pass for it not being a "full" SIM anymore. That's what i think anyway
Project cars 3? They shouldn't have gone with that, maybe Project cars evolution or something like that but I can see why the supporters of the first two games are frustrated with this release.🙏🏽✌🏽👊🏽
finally a Project Cars game I'll actually complete a race in? the overt simulation of the previous games never appealed to me..i'm more of a arcade racing fan myself..this actually has me interested
You can adjust the simulation levels to considerable extend and bring it to your liking. I finished PC2 with a generic controller without being even mediocre at race sims.
@@70mavgr I honestly don't have any desire to tweak the games like that. I don't even know what I'm doing. PC 1 and 2 are pretty games.. I mostly use them for benchmarking, but I literally have never finished a race.. I usually just quit after the first turn that I run off the road trying to make :(
The game that had impressed genuine fans from last two departures for its amibitious SIM experience. Do you know why or how they started *PROJECT C.A.R.S* ? It's full form is *Project - Community Assisted Racing Simulator* That's what it is .That's how it made fans with it's community friendly game project. And now they just pushed all its Fans and it's principles off the cliff for a Arcade Racer. That too with a User interface far too ugly even compared to Mobile Games. Asphalt 9 Legends user interface looks much impressive than this game's interface. *That's not acceptable for this Price of a game * At least they could have named it as "Project CARS - Arcade" to give fans a clear vision of what they are getting. Instead they went on with normal Ads by omitting it's SIM features completely switching to Arcade , in a desperate attempt to keep its long time fans for a Quick Buck by dishonoring them. Not Cool Project CARS 3 , Not Cool Slightly Mad Studios... Not Cool .
There's no doubt that project cars is usually known as a sim racer but we knew ages ago this was what it was gonna turn out like! Dirt series is the same, dirt 2 was all bells & whistles where others were more serious especially the dirt rally games! This could have, & probably should of had a different name rather than 3 on the end of it! I like it mind!
There was no reason for PCars to be a sim racer when AMS2 already does it way better. This way they could appeal to 2 different markets with the same engine, although they probably shouldn't have marketed PC3 as a sim. Technically speaking it _is_ still a sim...in terms of it being a simulation of racing cars in the real world, albeit not entirely accurately, but sometimes you need a bit of unrealistic stuff to have fun.
"Community Assisted Racing Sim" - it just says it all... Although we all did sense something was going the wrong way, vague statements like "realistic but fun driving" kept us (or some of us) hoping they wouldn't sell out entirely. But they did.... and what a huge disappointment it is. As others mention there are already other arcade games that probably even perform better than Pcars 3 so... this decision they made is, as I see it, purely an effort to make more money selling to the broad masses of 12 year old kids and people that generally don´t know jack shit about cars and/or racing. I lost so much respect for SMS not only because they sold out but as much because they kept us believing along the way with their vague statements and half-promises of a sim... it smells like easy money. Back to acc, despite it's lack of features it's at least a racing sim... or iRacing if I decide to jump on the "subscription train".

Looks good. I like how they kept the same sim-physics but added a fun single player experience. I normally don't play simulators because they usually don't have the single player progression but I think I will pick this one up.

You old people and your simulators, just because your reaction timing is off dont hate, PR 1&2 sucked, this is actually exciting if you dont like it play Gran Turismo. the guys at PRJC knew the series was dying out, it was a boring game, they revamped it. They had no leverage for improvements if they continued in that style, itd just be the same as 1&2 so give them some credit atleast. Fyi, the graphics are actually better if you analyse them properly.

If PC3 was a genuinely better game, it wouldn't be receiving the kind of criticism it's getting. I'm not the most serious sim racer, far from it but I don't see how people can really compare the first two games to PC3 when the third game doesn't even try to be realistic and does away with features that makes racing games fun and challenging in the first place
Toby Clarke What did project cars 1 & 2 do specifically in which made it different to other sims?, boring in a sense where there was nothing special in terms of modes and pure gameplay, it was generic yet realistic, in which I credit it for. PC3 is getting bad reviews because of the change, it’s completely different to PC 1 & 2. So of course the fans who appreciate 1&2 for its qualities wouldn’t appreciate the change. But yeah Maybe my claim of PC 1 & 2 being bad isn’t fully representative of the efforts the PRJC team put into their games!
@@demonkingr4648 It isn't so much about what PC 1 & 2 did better than anything else, but more about what they did well as racing games in general. They did pretty much what you would expect from a racing game in terms of simulating changing conditions, tyre wear, fuel consumption and damage whilst fitting them all into a mostly accessible package. Granted the first two games did take some time to get used to in terms of the controls and I could understand the complaints surrounding the feeling of the gamepad from more casual fans but they weren't dealbreakers personally. I don't mind arcade games either, I've actually had a lot of fun in the past playing more casual racing games but what disappointed me about PC3 is that when it comes to the racing and the lack of immersive details that make for interesting racing in real life, PC3 just feels empty and devoid any real challenge as you can bounce off other cars and the barriers with only cosmetic damage to show for it which doesn't encourage genuine effort or actual racing
People complain that the name should of been something else, fine, but for people like me who don't like sim racers, I have to say that I love this game. It's like Grid 2019 which is a fantastic racer. The review should be based on gameplay not the title.
Exactly my man, just enjoy the game for what it is I've played the shit out of the racing games I own from forza motorsport to need for speed and even the crew 2 and i enjoy all of them. People just don't like change either negative or positive
A lot of people didn't like project cars 1&2 due to the realism element. A lot of racing games such as grid, forza, and GT are getting more refined but are what we call Simcade style games. The S in project cars actually stood for simulation and where the other games had their problems they were kinda overlooked to an extent because it was promising to see a new hardcore racing sim starting to take root. I will admit I hate the career mode in PC2 but still enjoyed racing online and gradually got better at the game. I tried this at my friend's though and it's a massive downstep in everyway. We tried it against PC2 and NFS Shift 2 and after a couple of races we found it was more along Shifts handling, and driving model so if you enjoyed that, that's fine, but for us that wanted the next hardcore sim it's a kick in the teeth.
Man I bought the 1st and 2nd game and was like man this series suck. The 3 rd game looks great! The 1st 2 were too sim to where they were no fun at all.

This guy gets it. Project cars 3 is a difficult game to review, specifically because it's so unorthodox, so a trap many have fallen in, is to never look past the title and think it's a sim, when it's really a good arcade racing game.
Well, its a arcade style vr racer with a hell of a lot of tracks and hundreds of cars, and great graphics.More so than its competition, most of which aren't vr games. so its a must buy for me.
FH4 is open world. I never played PC3, but I don’t think it’s open world. Also, FH4 has a lot more realism than most arcade racers, like PC3. It’s not ultra realistic, but it’s more comparable 2 FM7 and other racing sims than most arcade racers

I use my g27 on it all the time and while its not as "accurate" at games like ACC or PC2 i have WAYYY more fun on FH4 especially with drifting. i go into every racing game with the mentality that its going to feel different and have a learning curve to overcome.
Had they named it something other than Project Cars, they would have avoided all the negative feedback. Game looks like my cup of tea though, track based simcade. I'll buy it when it goes on sale. I wonder why they couldn't just call it Shift 3. It doesnt have NFS in the title so I dont see why they couldn't. Its basically Shift 3, the xp, unlocking and leveling system is exactly the same.
PC2 & Assetto are way too racing sim serious for me, but at the same time, I'm not looking for 100% arcade, I want something in the middle... I just wish it'd go on SALE! The game stays at $60, I've never seen it on sale for anything less. I'm willing to buy it but not for full price... You'd think theyd drop it down since it sold horribly and it's been so long. Smh
What's curious about it are the clear downgrades from Project Cars 2, and not just the sim elements either. Both the graphics and sound design are somehow worse. The best theory floating around right now was that it was initially intended to be a mobile game. Looking at the UI design, it certainly seems that way. This game also seems to run worse than it's predecessor to boot. I expected more from SMS. What happened?
I liked Project cars 1 and I think project cars 2 fucking sucked. I enjoyed the NFS Shift games so I could see myself buying this at a discount, which will probably happen in like 3 months.
I'm not a car gamer but I always associated Project Cars with hardcore realistic driving. This just seems wrong to me, I would've given it a spin-off name like Project Cars, Horizons. Just like Forza did with their two parallel franchises
Thanks for the review and I ignore all these Sim nerds. They act like they on a period now cause This game changed for the better and got away from sim to more arcade and fun. I liked Project 1 and won all the time online and bought the 2nd one when it went on sale for 13 bucks and couldnt even finish the first race with a controller got mad and turned it off and said WOW what a waste of 13 bucks and haven’t played it since, now I’m debating on buying this right now on ps4. Its 28 bucks for the deluxe edition right now until the 30th of Sept. loving the points and currency system and how its more easier to control the cars and more arcade like and fun. Its a damn game people… Its not suppose to be a sim for a race track. You aren’t professional race car drivers, you are gamers. Gaming is suppose to be fun not aggravating to where you can’t even finish one lap cause the control sucks for a sim like the second one. I want the fun factor not the annoyed and want to throw a controller through my system or tv ordeal. So you all sound and look stupid whining around cause its not all like the other 2. Thank god it isn’t.
Wish we can have a vr open world driving simulation with role playing elements. Something like GTA 5 but focus on virtual reality and driving with proper role playing elements. Currently we have so many racing simulation and they all look alike. The crew 2 is great but steering wheel support sucks. Hope Ubisoft can provide the necessary update to fully support all the popular steering wheels with more accurate driving mechanics and realistic force feedback. This will improve the quality and immersion of the game.
wanna go back in time? remember 2012? when a game called Need for Speed: Most Wanted was released and it has nothing of the previous game of the same name? well, the same happened with PC3, good concept, but wrong name, like in the past with the MW 2012 which should have been a Burnout titile instead or just released with another name, the game was good, the gameplay was arcade and fun, but got a lot of hate just because of the promise behind the name, if only the devs of Project Cars remembered such moment in the history of racing games, they could have avoided sucg huge mistake.
I've played both previous games & have just played a good few hrs of this & it's fun! It's not like the previous games, it's like if driveclub & Grid had a baby, this would be the result!
Glad you didn’t just bash it. The only way progress in games moves forward is to try new things, as they have with this. The game isn’t horrible but it’s not as real as the last 2. I would have liked more visual customization options, well retaining the sim feel. I was expecting PC2 sim racing with NFS customization.

My only gripe with the game is the graphic glitches that sometimes happens like in podium scenes & even in race, usually at the start where it looks like it's cluster of black & white pixels! Do not buy this game. Not on Steam, Xbox Store, or PSN store, where it's at full price. Update 1.13 breaks the progression system. Milestones do not register anymore. Consequences: Invitational events can't be unlocked, and driver level takes more time to level up which also cuts into the credits payouts with each tier level up of the driver level.
I hate to say it but if we don’t at least support car games of all genres we will never get Twisted Metal. Twisted metal only cropped up because of all of the successful car titles
This game is a second "Grid ". Even Wreckfest and GT Sport has more simulation behaviour then this. PC2 was sometimes very difficult (some cars you couldn't handle) and had his faults but it was a nice experience and...a real sim!! For now as console player we have only ACC and Dirt2 as real simracers to play.
Even i think Project cars 3 is a REALLY good car game i enjoy with amazing handling and a lot of good graphics - i though think that now Codemasters is the company behind Slightly Mad, they maybe could honour Project cars even better adding the pitstops with gasoline and tire wear plus give an extra graphic update a la F1 2020 which is a Codemasters game. Then we were really talking, if that happened. Not nessecarely need to waiting on the next gen consoles:)

so they decided not to make a racing SIM which they were pretty good at, because racing sims are too geeky and offer only to a small audience, so they make a crap arcade racer and sell 86% less than Project Cars2 , how does that make sense? they knew how to make a good racing game , they could have improved on the last one and made a brilliant game, but i think they couldnt be arsed ....
Racing simulator, as in virtual recreation of racing. Doesn't necessarily have to be realistic, and tbh PC2 wasn't really on par with the likes of Assetto or rFactor

It's a term used to create a distinction between racing games which are intended to be more realistic. It is effectively never used in the way in which you are trying to explain here; you're just trying to give SMS an excuse.
@@AndrewDaniele87 Sure, but the series wouldn't exist if it weren't for the original crowdfunding campaign, and that original campaign was certainly not funded by people looking for another NFS game. It was marketed as a simulator, and even though the first two games were not simulators on par with the likes of rFactor, iRacing, AC etc, they were still at least much more leaning into the simulator side of the spectrum with their weather effects, tire wear etc. The real takeaway here is that, if the game were called "NFS Shift 3" or some new IP or even a spinoff/parallel series like Forza Motorsport/Forza Horizon, nobody would bat an eye. The problem is that they're cashing in on the recognition from the first 2 games and doing a complete bait and switch, leaving the people who originally funded and followed the series squarely in the dust.
I think the timing of this release was odd and not really necessary they could have waited a year to really improve on the game but we don't know the what was behind the decision to release it when they did seems like a wasted opportunity.
Mel Man It’s likely that you’re going to need a next gen console before you can play anything visually better than say GTS or Forza. If visuals is mostly what you play for, that is. The odds of SMS squeezing better visuals out of the same hardware they already pretty much maxed out in PC2 was always close to zero...

I am also a late adopter. I have a PS4 Pro which I still have a lot to play on so I will probably go to PS5 in Dec 2021 when they have a lot more games. Mel Man Save your money. Buy a used wheel. I am often amazed at people with 4 or 5 racing games playing on a pad, when for the same money you get one GOOD racing game and a wheel. It’s the difference between ‘gaming’ and ‘driving’...
I'm gonna ask something simple. how can this be a positive review after all Project CARS was about? even if the success of Project CARS 2 wasn't all that great, SMS could have continued updating the game, fixing issues, and listening to fans. Reviews for PC2 were honestly better for most but people had problems with fundamental parts such as FFB, pad use, and car physics for some. seeing PC3 should be a clear indicator to people that SMS doesn't care about your interest and just want your money.
Does not live up to the C.A.R.S in the name. Should have called this something else from the start. Reviews might have been better as this is NOWHERE near the promised race sim for all they were trying to push. Doesn't even hold up well against older arcade racers. It's new is about all it has going for it with the other ones out there. Heading over to Automobilista 2 .

arcade racer to the extreme. i hate the shakey camera when driving. thats just the worst thing of all for me in a game. no story or anything just aimless racing and points. nice graphics though.

I don’t mind positive reviews of this game (or any game). I don’t mind negative reviews of this game. But what I feel should always accompany any game review is up front and open and honest disclosure by the reviewer about what they DO already play, what controller they play on, and how much they play their favorite game (is it one of many, or their main squeeze). A review of this game from someone from a casual pad player background that picks up a racer once or twice a month has a completely different weight to a review by someone who plays Forza on a wheel every night, for instance. Or someone that mostly plays ACC, but wants to boot up this game for a drunken Friday night of fun! Or someone who plays PC2 as their sole game. Each one has their own viewpoint, and each one is reviewing the game honestly from THEIR perspective. But to draw a conclusion, you really need to know what their perspective is... I’m a big PC2 fan, I’m not going to get bent out of shape if a casual once a week couch player gives this a ten! But I’m going to feel differently if someone that plays PC2 on a wheel mostly says it’s a ten as well. I’m going to want to know WHY..! So, Bolt, would you mind being up front about what you currently mostly play, and how you play it and how often?

It's a good game for who appreciate this kind of race game, but the car handling need improvement. With Ferrari SF 90 is impossible to play.I don't think in the reality the car is so bad, if is Ferrari are🤮🤮🤮,but 100% is not.....
im fine and i welcome the arcade feel but this game is a joke. icouldnt find the graphics settings anywhere. in vr this looks like a psvr game. i upgraded my car and got locked out of all the races. i couldnt find a way to start over the campagn so i refunded instead. what a mess

It can’t hold up the best sims. They’ve repositioned. It was a risk for them. It will alienate many in the sim community.
Some events are crap like the slow career early races. But get in those faster cars and woo.

Like a lot of other Project CARS fans, I’ll be taking a pass on this one. It’s too bad SMS didn’t do what the DiRT series did: make DiRT Rally (1 & 2) a sim and make numbered DiRT games (4 & 5) more accessible for newer racers or those wanting a fun arcade game. They could have named this something like PCars: Grid and kept numbered games as a sim. That would have made most of us fans happy. But oh well, there’s still PCars 2 and ACC on the consoles. Maybe they’ll find their way again if this one doesn’t sell very well.
I am new to this game and I love it. I usually do custom races as I like to use any cars I want but I also like being able to fully customise and upgrade them too

They're are most definitely bad indeed 😓. A major step back visually. I went to this game with pretty good hopes (not as high as i would want but still high enough) and i only got that awful feeling of... Meeeeh whyyyy?! 😓😭. For example i like using the roof cam but reflections you get from the panels of the car are so pixelated that it feels your seeing a ps1 reflection. Is really that bad and so sad 😓. And the rest of the colours are really awfully bland in comparison to the other 2 entries 😓. I really really hope that SMS can fix this issue (and others unfortunately) in a near future and don't let this game fall into oblivion

@@andyjentsch8539 I honestly think that if this game had some really good visuals (console wise), not talking good as Gran Turismo but more like an upgrade of the PC2 console visuals or even the same for that matter... people wouldn't be so harsh with it and would give a pass for it not being a "full" SIM anymore. You can adjust the simulation levels to considerable extend and bring it to your liking. I finished PC2 with a generic controller without being even mediocre at race sims.

I mostly use them for benchmarking, but I literally have never finished a race.. I usually just quit after the first turn that I run off the road trying to make :(

There's no doubt that project cars is usually known as a sim racer but we knew ages ago this was what it was gonna turn out like! Dirt series is the same, dirt 2 was all bells & whistles where others were more serious especially the dirt rally games! This could have, & probably should of had a different name rather than 3 on the end of it! I like it mind!

There was no reason for PCars to be a sim racer when AMS2 already does it way better. This way they could appeal to 2 different markets with the same engine, although they probably shouldn't have marketed PC3 as a sim. Technically speaking it _is_ still a sim...in terms of it being a simulation of racing cars in the real world, albeit not entirely accurately, but sometimes you need a bit of unrealistic stuff to have fun.
"Community Assisted Racing Sim" - it just says it all... Although we all did sense something was going the wrong way, vague statements like "realistic but fun driving" kept us (or some of us) hoping they wouldn't sell out entirely. But they did.... and what a huge disappointment it is. As others mention there are already other arcade games that probably even perform better than Pcars 3 so... this decision they made is, as I see it, purely an effort to make more money selling to the broad masses of 12 year old kids and people that generally don´t know jack shit about cars and/or racing.
I lost so much respect for SMS not only because they sold out but as much because they kept us believing along the way with their vague statements and half-promises of a sim... it smells like easy money.
Back to acc, despite it's lack of features it's at least a racing sim... or iRacing if I decide to jump on the "subscription train".

Looks good. I like how they kept the same sim-physics but added a fun single player experience. I normally don't play simulators because they usually don't have the single player progression but I think I will pick this one up.

You old people and your simulators, just because your reaction timing is off dont hate, PR 1&2 sucked, this is actually exciting if you dont like it play Gran Turismo. the guys at PRJC knew the series was dying out, it was a boring game, they revamped it. They had no leverage for improvements if they continued in that style, itd just be the same as 1&2 so give them some credit atleast. Fyi, the graphics are actually better if you analyse them properly.

@@demonkingr4648 @Overlord JR How were the first two PC games boring? They might have appealed to a more serious sim audience but that doesn't mean it's boring by default. If PC3 was a genuinely better game, it wouldn't be receiving the kind of criticism it's getting. I'm not the most serious sim racer, far from it but I don't see how people can really compare the first two games to PC3 when the third game doesn't even try to be realistic and does away with features that makes racing games fun and challenging in the first place
Toby Clarke What did project cars 1 & 2 do specifically in which made it different to other sims?, boring in a sense where there was nothing special in terms of modes and pure gameplay, it was generic yet realistic, in which I credit it for. PC3 is getting bad reviews because of the change, it’s completely different to PC 1 & 2. So of course the fans who appreciate 1&2 for its qualities wouldn’t appreciate the change. But yeah Maybe my claim of PC 1 & 2 being bad isn’t fully representative of the efforts the PRJC team put into their games!
@@demonkingr4648 It isn't so much about what PC 1 & 2 did better than anything else, but more about what they did well as racing games in general. They did pretty much what you would expect from a racing game in terms of simulating changing conditions, tyre wear, fuel consumption and damage whilst fitting them all into a mostly accessible package. Granted the first two games did take some time to get used to in terms of the controls and I could understand the complaints surrounding the feeling of the gamepad from more casual fans but they weren't dealbreakers personally. I don't mind arcade games either, I've actually had a lot of fun in the past playing more casual racing games but what disappointed me about PC3 is that when it comes to the racing and the lack of immersive details that make for interesting racing in real life, PC3 just feels empty and devoid any real challenge as you can bounce off other cars and the barriers with only cosmetic damage to show for it which doesn't encourage genuine effort or actual racing

People complain that the name should of been something else, fine, but for people like me who don't like sim racers, I have to say that I love this game. It's like Grid 2019 which is a fantastic racer. The review should be based on gameplay not the title.
Exactly my man, just enjoy the game for what it is I've played the shit out of the racing games I own from forza motorsport to need for speed and even the crew 2 and i enjoy all of them. People just don't like change either negative or positive

A lot of people didn't like project cars 1&2 due to the realism element. A lot of racing games such as grid, forza, and GT are getting more refined but are what we call Simcade style games.
The S in project cars actually stood for simulation and where the other games had their problems they were kinda overlooked to an extent because it was promising to see a new hardcore racing sim starting to take root.
I will admit I hate the career mode in PC2 but still enjoyed racing online and gradually got better at the game. I tried this at my friend's though and it's a massive downstep in everyway.
We tried it against PC2 and NFS Shift 2 and after a couple of races we found it was more along Shifts handling, and driving model so if you enjoyed that, that's fine, but for us that wanted the next hardcore sim it's a kick in the teeth.

It is more fun, only graphics suck. Trees are terrible and there are shadow glitches, but it runs better than 1 & 2.
This guy gets it. Project cars 3 is a difficult game to review, specifically because it's so unorthodox, so a trap many have fallen in, is to never look past the title and think it's a sim, when it's really a good arcade racing game.

Well, its a arcade style vr racer with a hell of a lot of tracks and hundreds of cars, and great graphics.More so than its competition, most of which aren't vr games. so its a must buy for me.

FH4 is open world. I never played PC3, but I don’t think it’s open world. Also, FH4 has a lot more realism than most arcade racers, like PC3. It’s not ultra realistic, but it’s more comparable 2 FM7 and other racing sims than most arcade racers

I use my g27 on it all the time and while its not as "accurate" at games like ACC or PC2 i have WAYYY more fun on FH4 especially with drifting. i go into every racing game with the mentality that its going to feel different and have a learning curve to overcome.

What's curious about it are the clear downgrades from Project Cars 2, and not just the sim elements either. Both the graphics and sound design are somehow worse. The best theory floating around right now was that it was initially intended to be a mobile game. Looking at the UI design, it certainly seems that way. This game also seems to run worse than it's predecessor to boot. I expected more from SMS. What happened?

I liked Project cars 1 and I think project cars 2 fucking sucked. I enjoyed the NFS Shift games so I could see myself buying this at a discount, which will probably happen in like 3 months.
I'm not a car gamer but I always associated Project Cars with hardcore realistic driving. This just seems wrong to me, I would've given it a spin-off name like Project Cars, Horizons. Just like Forza did with their two parallel franchises

Thanks for the review and I ignore all these Sim nerds. They act like they on a period now cause This game changed for the better and got away from sim to more arcade and fun. I liked Project 1 and won all the time online and bought the 2nd one when it went on sale for 13 bucks and couldnt even finish the first race with a controller got mad and turned it off and said WOW what a waste of 13 bucks and haven’t played it since, now I’m debating on buying this right now on ps4. Its 28 bucks for the deluxe edition right now until the 30th of Sept. loving the points and currency system and how its more easier to control the cars and more arcade like and fun. Its a damn game people… Its not suppose to be a sim for a race track. You aren’t professional race car drivers, you are gamers. Gaming is suppose to be fun not aggravating to where you can’t even finish one lap cause the control sucks for a sim like the second one. I want the fun factor not the annoyed and want to throw a controller through my system or tv ordeal. So you all sound and look stupid whining around cause its not all like the other 2. Thank god it isn’t.

Wish we can have a vr open world driving simulation with role playing elements. Something like GTA 5 but focus on virtual reality and driving with proper role playing elements. Currently we have so many racing simulation and they all look alike. The crew 2 is great but steering wheel support sucks. Hope Ubisoft can provide the necessary update to fully support all the popular steering wheels with more accurate driving mechanics and realistic force feedback. This will improve the quality and immersion of the game.
I refunded. Ill stick with Project Cars 2 and the first one :)

wanna go back in time? remember 2012? when a game called Need for Speed: Most Wanted was released and it has nothing of the previous game of the same name? well, the same happened with PC3, good concept, but wrong name, like in the past with the MW 2012 which should have been a Burnout titile instead or just released with another name, the game was good, the gameplay was arcade and fun, but got a lot of hate just because of the promise behind the name, if only the devs of Project Cars remembered such moment in the history of racing games, they could have avoided sucg huge mistake.
I've played both previous games & have just played a good few hrs of this & it's fun! It's not like the previous games, it's like if driveclub & Grid had a baby, this would be the result!

I would have liked more visual customization options, well retaining the sim feel. I was expecting PC2 sim racing with NFS customization.

Do not buy this game. Not on Steam, Xbox Store, or PSN store, where it's at full price. Update 1.13 breaks the progression system. Milestones do not register anymore. Consequences: Invitational events can't be unlocked, and driver level takes more time to level up which also cuts into the credits payouts with each tier level up of the driver level.

This game is a second "Grid ". Even Wreckfest and GT Sport has more simulation behaviour then this. PC2 was sometimes very difficult (some cars you couldn't handle) and had his faults but it was a nice experience and...a real sim!! For now as console player we have only ACC and Dirt2 as real simracers to play.

Even i think Project cars 3 is a REALLY good car game i enjoy with amazing handling and a lot of good graphics - i though think that now Codemasters is the company behind Slightly Mad, they maybe could honour Project cars even better adding the pitstops with gasoline and tire wear plus give an extra graphic update a la F1 2020 which is a Codemasters game. Then we were really talking, if that happened. Not nessecarely need to waiting on the next gen consoles:)

Racing simulator, as in virtual recreation of racing. Doesn't necessarily have to be realistic, and tbh PC2 wasn't really on par with the likes of Assetto or rFactor

It's a term used to create a distinction between racing games which are intended to be more realistic. It is effectively never used in the way in which you are trying to explain here; you're just trying to give SMS an excuse.
@@AndrewDaniele87 Sure, but the series wouldn't exist if it weren't for the original crowdfunding campaign, and that original campaign was certainly not funded by people looking for another NFS game. It was marketed as a simulator, and even though the first two games were not simulators on par with the likes of rFactor, iRacing, AC etc, they were still at least much more leaning into the simulator side of the spectrum with their weather effects, tire wear etc.
The real takeaway here is that, if the game were called "NFS Shift 3" or some new IP or even a spinoff/parallel series like Forza Motorsport/Forza Horizon, nobody would bat an eye. The problem is that they're cashing in on the recognition from the first 2 games and doing a complete bait and switch, leaving the people who originally funded and followed the series squarely in the dust.
Project Cars 2 was the payoff for the crowdfund for PC1. You got two games for the cost of crowdfunding one. Decent enough.

Mel Man It’s likely that you’re going to need a next gen console before you can play anything visually better than say GTS or Forza. If visuals is mostly what you play for, that is. The odds of SMS squeezing better visuals out of the same hardware they already pretty much maxed out in PC2 was always close to zero...

Mel Man Save your money. Buy a used wheel. I am often amazed at people with 4 or 5 racing games playing on a pad, when for the same money you get one GOOD racing game and a wheel. It’s the difference between ‘gaming’ and ‘driving’...
I'm gonna ask something simple. how can this be a positive review after all Project CARS was about? even if the success of Project CARS 2 wasn't all that great, SMS could have continued updating the game, fixing issues, and listening to fans. Reviews for PC2 were honestly better for most but people had problems with fundamental parts such as FFB, pad use, and car physics for some. seeing PC3 should be a clear indicator to people that SMS doesn't care about your interest and just want your money.
Does not live up to the C.A.R.S in the name. Should have called this something else from the start. Reviews might have been better as this is NOWHERE near the promised race sim for all they were trying to push. Doesn't even hold up well against older arcade racers. It's new is about all it has going for it with the other ones out there. Heading over to Automobilista 2 .

I don’t mind positive reviews of this game (or any game). I don’t mind negative reviews of this game. But what I feel should always accompany any game review is up front and open and honest disclosure by the reviewer about what they DO already play, what controller they play on, and how much they play their favorite game (is it one of many, or their main squeeze). A review of this game from someone from a casual pad player background that picks up a racer once or twice a month has a completely different weight to a review by someone who plays Forza on a wheel every night, for instance. Or someone that mostly plays ACC, but wants to boot up this game for a drunken Friday night of fun! Or someone who plays PC2 as their sole game.
Each one has their own viewpoint, and each one is reviewing the game honestly from THEIR perspective. But to draw a conclusion, you really need to know what their perspective is... I’m a big PC2 fan, I’m not going to get bent out of shape if a casual once a week couch player gives this a ten! But I’m going to feel differently if someone that plays PC2 on a wheel mostly says it’s a ten as well. I’m going to want to know WHY..!

It's a good game for who appreciate this kind of race game, but the car handling need improvement.
With Ferrari SF 90 is impossible to play.I don't think in the reality the car is so bad, if is Ferrari are🤮🤮🤮,but 100% is not.....
I guess Proj Cars 3 is better if u play with a controller? I imagine Proj Cars 2 being a Sim would be awful with an Xbox controller.

im fine and i welcome the arcade feel but this game is a joke. icouldnt find the graphics settings anywhere. in vr this looks like a psvr game. i upgraded my car and got locked out of all the races. i couldnt find a way to start over the campagn so i refunded instead. what a mess
This review is clearly biased and he must've not played Project Cars 1 or 2. Don't buy this game especially if you play with a wheel because it's nearly impossible to play this game with a wheel in some cars

This is rly a shame,i liked 1 and 2 especially ,the customisation and career mode...not to say variety of tracks amazing games but this looks like a piece of shit,id like at least a simcade not a full on dumb nfs game

Why would anyone buy this over something like Forza Motorsport of you want a bid more arcady sim? Forza is better in every aspect from the number of cars to the graphics of the game
