I can't wait to visit family in Philly as I WILL visit these restaurants! It is my mission to try all nine. We had Ma Lessi's when we attended a conference! The food was DELICIOUS!!
My mom is not in Philadelphia but the Pocono Pa. Caribbean Spices Restaurant, where she provides the BEST when it comes to Caribbean dishes, Oxtail, Curry goat, Jerk salmon, Chicken roti, jerk chicken lo mein, boneless beef ribs, With tons of vegan options too. I would love to see the top 10 Poconos black own restaurant featured too.
Outstanding, thank you for the information concerning Black Owned Restaurants in Philly. I will be attending my daughter's graduation from Temple University next month and we will be dining at one or two of these restaurants
Embrassingly I admit, I’ve only ate from Down North Pizza and Bookers. I’ve been wanting to dine at Amina and South. I also want to check out Cray and Ma Lessie’s (I went there the other day, and the line was soooo long, it was a pretty long wait, so I have to go earlier). Honestly, I want to support all of the restaurants. Hopefully by years end 🙏🏾
You are on point, my friend. We appreciate your dedication to support these restaurants and at the same time, enjoy some really good food and ambience.
yay #BlackOwnedBusiness 🥰🙏🏾 this is awesome, i'm in the area and just learned about 2 new spots i didn't know abt at all that I def want to check out/support and learned about 3 i heard abt and am def gonna support
Heading to Philly in September! Thank you, for this amazing and wonderful culinary experience! I’m sure I will be checking out 1,2,3…. Black owned businesses listed here.
Thanks for information and will gladly try or look for these places. We need to support our black restaurants and nice to know where to look or go so appreciate this. I live in South jersey so will be going over the bridge to PA to check these out
Oh I'm visiting all of these lol. Down North pizza was already on my radar, and it's not too far from where I live. Might start there, especially knowing they have a lamb option! That sounds crazy
How did I miss Ma Lessi's when I was in town for Pax Unplugged? Will try to visit as many of these as I can when I am back there in the area this coming December.

Whose "rating" these restaurants? I think Black people should be rating them and no other culture
This information needs to be published, like the Green Book. So that we have a clear choice.🌸🇺🇸
I agree
Absolutely!!

I have been to South and Bookers. Neither one disappoint❤. Looking forward to trying others!
Just went to Amina’s 2nd and Chestnut. Had dem turkey wings. And wifey had the crab cakes. We’re going back for the chicken
I’m a West Philly Gurl (Wynnefied specifically)🫡I’ve visited all but 4…I definitely have to swing through in 2 shakes & a Twist🤟🏾
Cant wait to go to philly !!
Jacob’s in Uptown Philadelphia
I did not enjoy the food at Amina. Everything we ordered had sugar in it or a sweet taste to it. If you like that sort of thing, enjoy.
I agree, I was not impressed nor satisfied
Oh no that restaurant has been on my list for minute now. Dang
Nourish at 2nd & Girard should’ve been on this list!
south jazz food is delicious.
This video is way over due.
Sad that some of the things I would like to taste say, out of stock?
Caribbean food is not soul food
@@yaboy-tt6kd You don’t get it
Why dude sounds British?
There are Black people who are British.
He sound like Robin Leach 😂
If these restaurants are not owned by descendants of USA chattel slavery the food they are making is NOT soul food.
I agree.....why not make it off your own lineage and name.
Exactly 💯
I agree
That’s like saying if you don’t have 100% DNA of African ancestry you’re not African or Black.

Bookers food is trash. The food was soo bad even their bartender told me not to order certain foods from the menu
