This is exactly like most movies based on books: ruins the characters, fails the source material miserably, and thinks it is good enough in other regards to make up for the previous points.
It's an adaptation, fool. They don't have to be exact copies of the originals. People would just watch the original. Derrrr.

@@uiscepreston It's not an exact copy. It abridges everything, gives an excuse for Leeroy's behavior, takes a half-assed approach at the lead-up, then abandons it all without the pay-off. It'd be unrecognizable without the title and the character names.

It had me up until the end. They kinda butchered the whole scream and execution. It would've been funny to see the whole team rush in after him like in the video and they just get swarmed by cops. A chaotic ending would've been awesome. And wtf was up with the guards? They didn't do anything...
I think they had more of a "He's so stupid we don't even need to do anything" kind of attitude.
Woulda been better if they ran in and he found some old lady with chicken so at the end they could still do the "least I got chicken"

No the story is that Leeroy went and heated up some chicken while they were making their plan and didn't hear the plan and just ran in. He actually does say "At least I have Chicken."(as odd as it may seem)

This is like one of those "Inspired but actual events" movies but then is only a little bit of the real thing. A for effort.
This really misses the point of the original meme, Lerroy probably does hear the plan originally and charges in because he doesn't give a fuck, this makes him like he is trying to be helpful and heard part of the plan the joke is lost
well...if you look at the original video, the dialogue about "number crunch" (as if someone can give a percentage chance on how successful a battle is going to go), you'd see the video was staged and therefore who knows if the original intention for Leroy was that he was off making chicken and missed the intro or just couldn't help it and ran in under the pressures of anticipation.
@Cory, Leeroy is shown as AFK in the original, so yeah, I'm sure he missed the plan. The way he talks when he comes back, though, is like, "Yeah sure, whatever, we got this."
There are other markers that the video is staged, like the fact that the plan was as idiotic as what ended up happening, or the fact that people in an endgame raiding guild didn't know Divine Intervention doesn't allow actions and one of them thought he was lagging, etc. Of course, the "32.33% (repeating of course) chance of success" is the deadest of giveaways and merely confirms that everyone who thought it was real, even non-WoW players, had switched off their brain throughout the video :P
Even so, I think everyone truly wished it was real, haha.
In reality, Leeroy thinked his comrades already finished the plan and he ran in.
The number crunch thing could be real. It is a video game, it literally is numbers. With previous logs and estimates on people's performance you could estimate it. Or maybe he has calculated the success rate of this encounter in the past. And the Divine Intervention thing was a recent change in the new patch. A new spell I think
Judge: "Mr. Jenkins, on the charge of armed robbery, how do you plead?"
Leeroy: "At least I have chicken."
Would have been funnier if they all ran in after Leeroy got chased by 30 guards taking them all down. Then Leeroy runs out with a chicken leg. Takes a bit out of it line "At least I got chicken." and falls to the ground dead. Close up on the chicken leg. No blood packs just gun shot sounds. Fall over dead.

It's not genius, they didnt want to have to cast 30 extra people for a 5 second clip. They are indi tier and are trying to keep the budgets small to get the most out of it.
but I do agree (as does everyone else who watched this) that it would've been funnier to see them do it almost word for word. But I think they were just trying to make it a modern day re-creation not a 100% straight copy cat.

That's great, but the whole event wouldn't have been funny if it was just one empty-headed doofus running in alone. What made it good is that they all tried to save him and of course fail, and that is sorely missing in this short.
Bill Wiltfong PRECISELY! This doesn't recreate the scenario at ALL. The ENTIRE point was that he effectively murdered his whole team (or that they were dumb enough to think they wouldn't be).

KingofPros21 It was a set up as well, they made the video for the lols... NO paladin would have wanted those shoulders, and the room is fairly easy... The eggs hatch when you go near them, so you can spawn the whelps in small manageable groups

- Later, in the coroner's office -
Coroner: "The subject appears to have been stabbed multiple times, but most stab wounds appear to have been superficial or post-mortem. Cause of death appears to be asphyxiation caused by the chicken bones forced into his trachea."

This disappoints me. I was happy at the number crunch, but. The Leeroy Jenkins yell was all wrong, and don't even get me started on the fact thERE WAS NO MENTION OF CHICKEN AT THE END BY LEEROY AFTER THEY HAD ALL DIED!!!!!! THAT IS A NECESSARY PART!
But they didn't die, what they did was a reimagination of what could have happened, don't try to compare the two as if they were mirrors or you'll be gravely disappointed.

I liked it. The ending left me wanting a little more. However, this is still a good short that literally had me laughing out loud.
The original clip was used in one of my Army Briefings for MDMP (Military Decision Making Process). No matter how much planning one does...it hardly ever works out as planned. This was my introduction to the original clip. This was a good attempt to bring it to a movie!

Yeah here's the thing - the original video you saw isn't the original incident. The video you saw is a recreation of something that happened but wasn't filmed.
Also that "leave britney alone" video? The guy is acting.

This had the potential of being great but some problems which held it back.
1.) Should've had it where Jenkins was peeing in the bush (bio) so as not to hear the walkie.
2.) and a the guy that takes Jenkins down is a person dressed in a chicken outfit.
3.) Also it would've been better if this was an egg factory instead of a bank.
4.) EVERYONE should've gone in there

I love the delivery on "That's a lot better than we usually do." Sounds just like it's out of a cheesy, fun action flick. Like "Yeah but we always beat the odds. We've done this before." Nice touch.

Nice effort, and it starts off okay, but I'm thinking the writers and other commentators here have never seen or heard the original, because this video gets half of it way wrong and leaves out the funniest part of the original: In this rendition, Leeroy is the only one who runs in and gets in trouble. In the original, the humor, shock and anger came from Leeroy running in clueless, thereby committing his teammates to abandon their well laid plans and get slaughtered.
This is why you never invite someone named Leroy Jenkins to anything

Man I had high expectations. The quality, directing, and voice acting was spot on until Leeroy softly uttered his name and ran into the bank. The ending was very much a let down. It seems they may have not had the means to set up all of them with or without masks running around a bank, like chickens with there heads cut off, bumping into strangers and guards. But they needed to do something more than that. And where is the atleast I have chicken line? I mean COME ON.
