To me the smoking gun is someone found a pal that’s basically a pallet swapped Mega Mewtwo Y with some small cosmetic tweaks, but if it’s not the same model it’s damn close. I think probably what happened and what people are seeing is that at least some of the pals started life as Pokémon models that got ripped and then tweaked in a model editor to create original monsters. It’s a nice way to cut corners, a large chunk of the modeling and animation was already done for you, you just have to change the meshes enough people won’t notice and of course reskin them.
Me and my friends started a server together. It was great. At the beginning we set up our first base in an open field and then A LUCKY SHINY DEER CAME UPON US TINY LEVEL 3 PEOPLE, and told us this is my land actually and kept attacking us every few minutes for like half an hour till it despawned. We couldnt take him down since he was level 16. 10/10 game.
Palword does what many AAA games and game devs fail to do; create and nurture a fun experience. Many companies try to be "edge-y" and different, but that's not what people want. Also, the feels good of an underdog team putting this all together makes it even better. Nintendo is definitely only looking at it now due to its success. I was skeptical of it when I heard of it a couple of years ago, but I can't get enough of it now. Also, the sales don't count Xbox and Windows (Xbox) sales or Game Pass numbers. I am buying out my copy to support the devs, even though I started with Game Pass.

For all the drama it brought, the moniker "Pokémon with guns" is a big part of what got them the sales in the first place. Also, you can totally turn off raids from the start menu, and with the bad ai pathing this is completely justified until fixed IMO.

Just want to point out, some game devs have alleged the Palworld used AI, but their devs have not said that. In addition, most of the character art was done over 3 years ago, before most AI was publicly available.
The moment i saw this game on steam without seeking youtube videos to clarify or gain any knowledge on what palworld could be in a heart beat without a doubt i bought palworld and i do not have regrets 😊 .
I've watched so many of your destiny 2 vids, and as soon as I download palworld you're at the top of my feed with this. As popular as it is, it makes sense, but it's neat that you're here.
Good video, but I’m SERIOUSLY concerned about the lack of sources listed/linked/cited. Was trying to find what articles or interviews you got the info about their company from, but there’s just nothing in the description, pinned comment, or the video itself directing me to the source of any info here.
Another thing to add is that this game respects your time. Dont have as much time? Well your pals gather stuff while you are offline (in multiplayer). Want to minmax your pal? Well the breeding system allows you to take a handfull of good pals and turn them into any other with the bonuses you want. Ark is a game which does not respect your time in that regard. It takes 3 full months of active gametime to minmax a single dino. 1) Find a max level dino (because the maximul level you can get is based on the initial level as they are captured, which is dumb) 2) Hope that the dino does not have wasted stats (because the skillpoints can go into useless nonsense, like oxygen, which literally does nothing on some) 3) Find a breeding pair of Dinos with the stats you want and get the eggs. 4) Get a Breeding pair of the best stats of the two to continue breeding. 5) Get stacked mutations (Meaning You get a 10% chance to get a random stat increased. Like attack. You can have 20 mutations, but can go overcap if you get 10 attack in a row, then 10 health, then 10 stam etc. Got a Health one after an attack one? Toss it away and try again. That is a 4,5*10^-24 % chance. Or a 0.0000000000000000000000045% chance.) 6) Did I mention these eggs take a few minutes each to breed? Even on boosted servers? 7) Get a breeding pair of the fully mutated ones. 8) Take the eggs and let the dinos imprint on your (which is a feeding minigame every 30 minutes) 9) Repeat for every type of dino. Palworld? 1) Find any pal with the bonus you like. 2) Breed them to get to the pal you want (most take 2-3 mixes) 3) Do that with 4 bonuses (or less depending on your luck) 4) Breed the results. (On average: 20-30 trys, going in parallel.) 5) You can not take that one and breed for others you like. It cuts out 95% of the mindless, statchecking BS. And did it loose anything of value by doing so? Nope.
ONE HUNDRED REJECTIONS and she became an integral part to this blockbuster game. Really reinforces the idea that anything is possible and to never give up on your dreams. Kudos to the entire Palworld team. I haven't been into a game this much since elden ring
I really like the idea of having bases with pals but I wish you could expand your base and have more pals on one base. I tend to be a loner when it comes to games.
I haven't played PalWorld yet, but it looks awesome. All the points made in the video are great. I remember seeing the trailer way back thinking there was no way Pokemon Company and Nintendo would let it get through development like sooooo many ROM hacks of the past and general Nintendo lawyer history. The fact it got this far made me think there was no case for Nintendo to go after it. I guess stolen assests (if true) would allow them to. Figures. To Mizobe, I hope you continue to take your path. You and others have made an amazing game. If Nintendo brings that down, so be it. But even if they do manage it, take pride in the product you made. The care you put into it even now is evident. Im so glad this worked out to this degree for this game.
my 2 cents: - PocketPair is a Japanese Company, like Nintendo. Japans Copyright laws are more aggressive than US / EU (e.g. They dont have Fair Use). If there would have been infringement, they would have sued already. Also, The Pokemon Company already got a court ruling "you dont have copyright to pocket monsters". And nintendo doesnt have copyright on birds, fish, lizards or objects (last time i played pokemon, there were Ice Cream, Keys, litteral Trash and a Coal-Wagon...) - That AI discussion is really annoying. In Business Developement, we had Copilot for half a decade. A lot of people use it to avoid writing Boilerplate Code. The "AI" in video games sounds to me like "I dont want you to have it easy, go and model 500 tree variations by hand!" which is disrespectful. I'm pretty sure they didn't use AI. Lets make the case how the design process for a pal can be done: a. designer has an idea for a wolf-creature, starts googling around for wolf pictures, selects an art style, researches for not to copy a pokemon, make design b. designer has an idea for a wolf-creature, asks AI "hey, can you give me 20 pictures of wolflike creatures that dont infringe on pokemon copyright in the style of BOTW", finds something they like, make changes to their vision. both processes require having a vision, skills, creativity. AI tool helps avoiding wasting a lot of time. Also, models and pictures created by AI are usually still very bad, so you need to work on the concepts anyway. Really dislike people hating on people taking valid shortcuts which doesnt affect them at all
I saw this game popped up a couple years ago on steam discovery. I wish listed it & been waiting for it since. It was definitely worth the wait. I had a feeling this game was gonna blow up and be popular.
If Nintendo and GameFreak were smart, they'd collaborate with Pocket Pair and do an open world first gen remake for pc and make tons of money. Also. The tweeter came out and said he was stretching models because he just doesn't agree.
Biggest complaint: movement needs more polish. Climbing especially feels very buggy and jittery. Movement has always been super important to me and if it feels clunky a game loses a lot of points imo. That said, still very fun.
My favorite aspect of the game are definitely the abilities your pals can do in the over world, Reminds me of the Pokémon adventures manga. which I think is what Pokémon has been really missing, not just riding your Pokémon or having them fallow you but being able to use your Pokémon out side of battle in fun and unique to that Pokémon ways.
The Twitter account that compared the meshes already came out that they adjusted them to look more like the Pokemon ones and apologized.

2. Those meshes were resized on purpose, and was admitted to, all because the dude doesn't support " animal abuse "
I wish I could post link on youtube so I could show you that scaling a model does not alter the model. He did not fabricate anything and the fact the internet is running with that idea is really dumb when blender is free and you can learn it's not true yourself
Thank you, all this people are just showing that they don't know anything about 3D modeling @@endborg90
@@endborg90the twitter user in question apologized publicly for altering the models to give the game bad press
If resizing is the wrong word that's just a matter of semantics, most people don't know the exact jargon of 3D modeling
there's been numerous other people that have also done these comparisons and come to similar conclusions as the original poster. at the end of the day though, no one can prove or disprove anything besides Nintendo and Pocketpair if this even does escalate any further.@@Oblivion9996
Pocket Pair/Palworld's backstory deserves a documentary at some point lmao that's wilddd...
I hope this game continues to get better, the devs have so much capital and such a strong base
Loved the background history section. That gave helpful context.
We couldnt take him down since he was level 16. 10/10 game.
That actually sounds like freaking fun lol. I have the game downloaded. Just haven’t dived in just yet
I am buying out my copy to support the devs, even though I started with Game Pass.

byofrog the guy with the "evidence" came out a while back and said they made it up because they hate palworld because of animal cruelty
100% this
Too many of you guys can't read. He apologized for not saying he scaled them... he went on to say scaling a model does not change it. He literally stood by what he said
Been a fan of yours for years. Palworld brought me back to watching your videos again super enjoyable and entertaining! Thank you!
The way this game was made, I’m certain now these devs are the closest thing we will ever have to the Avengers, it’s almost a miracle this worked out
I've said this time and time again in tiktok, shorts, twitch etc. Palworld is what pokemon should've been. like C'MON WE AREN'T KIDS ANYMORE!
Nintendo refuses to follow the trend so many other games do it get consistent fan bases. EVOLVE THE GAME WITH THE GROWTH OF THE PLAYERS.

Palworld actually sold more than 20 million copies already but because of the immense hate they were receiving, they had to hush the numbers. I love the irony of how the people who champion no hate to devs, go ahead and send death threats to an indie game company. Palworld is proof that passion projects with the correct direction will succeed and they deserve every bit of it.
LMAO are you slow? It hasn't sold close to 20 million yet...... that was an error on a site. It's pathetic sad other have even liked you comment just to be a palworld fan lmao just look into the topic kid
I never got into pokemon as a child, my family was poor and it was the 08 recession, so i wasnt really able to watch tv for pokemon or afford the pokemon cards. And as an adult, i look at pokemon now and its just too much. I didnt grow up with it and now there is so many creatures, islands, stories, and the like that i just get overwhelmed and give up. Palworld came out and i was skeptical, but gave it a shot because my best friend wanted to play it, and its become one of my top 4 favorite games. I have never and will never get into pokemon, but i will stick by Palworld, and theyll have to pry it from my cold dead hands
Yea that's how it feels like. Reminds me of 1998 again, but I'm happy a game came out this new generation will love just we enjoyed Pokemon.
For all the drama it brought, the moniker "Pokémon with guns" is a big part of what got them the sales in the first place. Also, you can totally turn off raids from the start menu, and with the bad ai pathing this is completely justified until fixed IMO.
I give it a solid 8 "wooow"s out of 10 "YAH"s. A good start with the promise for more. And the devs believe in their own project.
This is clearly their love baby 😂❤ with so random team but so much love and passion for the game basicly putting all or nothing into the gamble. They did amazing so far. Cannot wait to buy the game soon and enjoy it ❤❤
I'm tired of all the drama man, I wanna see this game thrive!
Quivern is my baby and I don't care if it's not the fastest, I'll still travel the whole world with it... ehem, big fluffy dragon good.
Side note but I highly recommend getting Vixi very really on. Infinite arrows, basic spheres, and I believe also small amounts of gold... you can also produce that to with the cats in dungeons.
I honestly hope that Pokemon cant sue, I've never been so excited and addicted to a game in YEARS! They are shaking up their competitors right now, and moving the space forward. I believe pokemon and palworld can coexist. Especially hearing the story behind the company is truly a risk and underdog story if i ever heard one. And with how much they sold, im sure ppl would do a gofundme to pay for some of the legal issues.
both companies are from japan and will be judge in japan with japaneses laws, and i suggest you to look for the article 32(1) about copyright and it's application. you will understand that the game will be not sue, and even with weird circonstance will be just forced to change some design nothing more, so don't worry about that.
BRUTALLY honest, THIS HAD TO BE SAID, Im gonna be STRAIGHT with you fellas, MY HOT TAKE
You catch monsters in this game

19:00 - Byo has already been disproven. He was heavily anti-Palworld from the very start.
Hasn't been disproven, just hasn't been proven yet. It is alleged and nintendo is investigating it. Until that investigation is over he has not been disproven (scaling doesn't change the model)

18:55 Apparently that person that compared the models faked it. He resized everything to fit to make it seem like Palworld stole models from Pokemon.
Jumping to unreal engine 4 means palworld devs dodged a bullet, considering the Unity charging per install scandal.
To me it comes across that the company loves lots of games that we grew up on but want to develop their own twist on it.
I mean how many of us have been asking for pokemon to improve and actually do something innovative, it’s been ages since they’ve made a good one

Passion and gambling vs profit. This is what EA and Ubisoft needs to learn from.
It was satisfying catching my first jet dragon and now I’m getting more to breed the fastest jet dragon 😎
Their development story goes to show that being in the industry too long blinds you to what is so simple.. make a game fun first and the rest will come. These huge dev corps lost that vision when money became the priority.
Success doesn't breed innovation
Only competition can do that

That proof of copying is an uphill battle. Nintendo will need evidence of exact copying, not just similar looking creatures.

His first video playing this game is probably my favorite piece of content Cross has uploaded. So damn funny.
Palworld is an amazing game. it definitely ENTERTAINED ME more then i could have imagined. even found an unraidable base location. i love Palworld
It's done something that no games done in ages. It's made the game fun. There's no meta , there's no sense, there's high rewards but it's also difficult so the rewards feel worth it . They made a FUN FUNNY GAME
how funny would it be if this game came out on switch
Just started out. Great tip about Anubis. I grabbed Katress & Mossanda kept them in the breeding pit and just crafted cake after cake. Now I have two Anubis and 2 more on the way. Crafting, mining AND transporting? All at high levels? I think I need 3 or 4 of them in my base lol.
Now I am thinking... Could I literally just have ALL Anubis mining outpost? With a berry feeder and a few hot tubs?
if i remember correctly, the dude who did the creature polygon comparisons came out and said he faked it
Great review. My favorite part was the execution sequence you’ve mentioned. 😊

Pokémon instead of attacking palworld should try to have a good relationship and possibly get some sort of a collab.

Aztecross not making a Destiny killer clickbait thumbnail is a true L 😂
If you went back to Curse of Osiris and told D2 players that Pokémon Perfected would be the destiny killer you'd get laughed at and told to worry about Anthem 💀
This is getting old. The only real destiny killer will be destiny itself.
A pokemon killer aswell
Nah this is the Ark killer, not that Ark needed the help in the first place lol.
since genshin was mentioned, I'd just like to say that exploring with mounts in palworld just made me crave for them in genshin even more.
fun fact" the person who made the tweet saying the mesh similarities, later said they altered one model to better fit the other. the opposition to this game is completely people on twitter saying "trust me bro" same with the devs claiming AI, they says it "feels nefarious" or its a "gut feeling" theyre just mad and its hilarious
Even if the game is similar to pokemon, i dont think it matters because all that matters is that people are buying and playing the game and thats good for both franchises it presents competitive games
I believe the guy who did the model comparison admitted to making it up if I’m not mistaken
I've watched so many of your destiny 2 vids, and as soon as I download palworld you're at the top of my feed with this. As popular as it is, it makes sense, but it's neat that you're here.
Didn't the guy comparing mesh, come out and say he modified the mesh to make it looked similar, pretty much made it up.
Good video, but I’m SERIOUSLY concerned about the lack of sources listed/linked/cited. Was trying to find what articles or interviews you got the info about their company from, but there’s just nothing in the description, pinned comment, or the video itself directing me to the source of any info here.
Well. I was a bit miffed yesterday finding out that the big tree was not reachable.
But I hope it will be released someday.
1) Find a max level dino (because the maximul level you can get is based on the initial level as they are captured, which is dumb)
2) Hope that the dino does not have wasted stats (because the skillpoints can go into useless nonsense, like oxygen, which literally does nothing on some)
3) Find a breeding pair of Dinos with the stats you want and get the eggs.
Or a 0.0000000000000000000000045% chance.)
6) Did I mention these eggs take a few minutes each to breed? Even on boosted servers?
7) Get a breeding pair of the fully mutated ones.
8) Take the eggs and let the dinos imprint on your (which is a feeding minigame every 30 minutes)
9) Repeat for every type of dino.
Palworld?
1) Find any pal with the bonus you like.
2) Breed them to get to the pal you want (most take 2-3 mixes)
3) Do that with 4 bonuses (or less depending on your luck)
4) Breed the results. (On average: 20-30 trys, going in parallel.)
5) You can not take that one and breed for others you like.
Nintendo suing them would be like fromsoft suing gunfire games cause they made “dark souls with guns” aka remnant
my 2 cents:
- PocketPair is a Japanese Company, like Nintendo. Japans Copyright laws are more aggressive than US / EU (e.g. They dont have Fair Use). If there would have been infringement, they would have sued already.
Also, The Pokemon Company already got a court ruling "you dont have copyright to pocket monsters". And nintendo doesnt have copyright on birds, fish, lizards or objects (last time i played pokemon, there were Ice Cream, Keys, litteral Trash and a Coal-Wagon...)
- That AI discussion is really annoying.
Lets make the case how the design process for a pal can be done:
a. designer has an idea for a wolf-creature, starts googling around for wolf pictures, selects an art style, researches for not to copy a pokemon, make design
b. designer has an idea for a wolf-creature, asks AI "hey, can you give me 20 pictures of wolflike creatures that dont infringe on pokemon copyright in the style of BOTW", finds something they like, make changes to their vision.
both processes require having a vision, skills, creativity. AI tool helps avoiding wasting a lot of time.
Also, models and pictures created by AI are usually still very bad, so you need to work on the concepts anyway.
Really dislike people hating on people taking valid shortcuts which doesnt affect them at all
The person who did this on twitter admitted to altering meshes to fit them together better
Not only did they create a truly great game, they did it through the most crazy and ridiculous circumstances imaginable
Ngl calling Palworld Pokémon with guns is a injustice into what Palworld really is.
I saw this game popped up a couple years ago on steam discovery. I wish listed it & been waiting for it since. It was definitely worth the wait. I had a feeling this game was gonna blow up and be popular.
Played palworld, got level 30, got the most op pals, got a handcannon, yes i really recommend this game
Adding PVP like RuneScape - stepping over a line, would be kind of dope
If Nintendo and GameFreak were smart, they'd collaborate with Pocket Pair and do an open world first gen remake for pc and make tons of money. Also. The tweeter came out and said he was stretching models because he just doesn't agree.
Are you surprised there's bugs? I encountered a Warsect just last night.
The creator that released those models said he manipulated them already did you miss that??
Nintendo never stated the game copied them.
Nice take on the game :))
I love this game and idc what others say, its so fun playing with a friend etc.
