That’s the only way it should be. If you go to a frat and call these people your brothers and sisters… brothers and sisters don’t put you into harms way. They protect and guide you
The kids that do this hazing thing to others, especially the amount of alcohol they force them to drink and the physical abuse, should be expelled from college, and charged because this is murder and gross bodily harm…why aren’t they held accountable for doing this to pledges , I don’t understand how they get away with it?? It’s disgusting
I think it’s because they think legally that they could say no to drinking. But with the threat of bodily harm in some cases, like the paddling, it’s obvious the reasons why they feel they have to drink.
It's so important to know that this is NOT just happening in frat houses. I went to a "party school" and keeping tally of your shots on your arm with a sharpie was expected, and people would go WELL beyond 20 shots, in think the most I've seen is 26-30. I've had to talk friends into calling 911 for random people SO many times. Binge drinking is a huge problem for people in my age group and younger.
You know what; these parents sometimes pressure their children to join these fraternities. Whether it’s family tradition or a way to network. The worst part is everyone including the parents and school officials know how bad hazing gets yet it’s a culture that lives on! The problem is bigger than the fraternities.
Liked because more ppl need to see this. Similar thing happened to me. I just didn't know how serious it was to drink that much. Many others need to know. A lot of ppl don't have others best interest at heart. Even if you've known that person for yrs 😫 Be on guard AT ALL TIMES!

Which was why I never been to any college party or have any to do with drinking. I put all my Focus on study in college and don’t have much friends… I admit my life is boring but it keep me save and not to made my parent worry.
Don’t forget that you can do other things that don’t involve alcohol and getting drunk and still have an eventful life, it’s just society that pushes people to drink to excess. Also, there’s nothing wrong with drinking alcohol, as long as you know how to control yourself and don’t get addicted to it
My sister's hazing was being woken up at 2 am and being told to jump into the cold, dirty pond on campus. Why do people have to take it so far? It's so sick.
When I was in college (1989-1993), I was in a sorority,, and I was also a little sister to a fraternity. I was never hazed by any group. I know for a fact that neither the fraternity or the sorority (any of them on our campus) had any kind of hazing activity. In fact, even when we went to regular parties not affiliated with the organizations where there was alcohol involved, there was a always a standing, spoken, clearly voiced rule that if someone felt like they needed to stop drinking, they could. We would play drinking games, but no one ever gave anyone a hard time about not drinking or stopping drinking. Our Greek organizations were not allowed to have booze at any event put on by the organization. I can’t believe that hazing is still happening because it is so dangerous not to mention how bad it is for the organization itself even if no one gets hurt permanently. It goes against the spirit and intent of the Greek system entirely.
Life and college can still be fun without doing all of these deadly things! By the grace of God I went through 4 years of college without drinking or attending a party, and I still had an amazing time. It’s not worth it! Give your life to Jesus!!!! God loves you so much!
I went to Pakistan to do med school. And they had hazing there. Some of the hazing was vicious. It was demeaning, physically harmful and embarrassing. Nothing was done about it until the principal changed. He sent a pack of 30 senior guys who were in final year every day, who would roam the campus and if they saw hazing they would stop the hazing, and report to the principal and that child was expelled. He also had appointed senior doctors both on the female campus and the male campus to update the staff about who did hazing in the dorms. And they announced it through their newsletters, to conferences and when they did their medical conferences as well. So that everyone would understand that he meant business.Needless to say hazing no longer exists in that university. It was a wonderful time for the newcomers. Because when I remember my time of hazing, there were a couple of girls that were burned and lost their hair in their scalp. So hazing should not exist in universities. Period!

This sadly happens in a lot of cultures where alcohol is the main feature of social interactions ! I read years ago that kidney disease is high in SKorea due to how social drinking is prevalent in there
When I was in college I was at a party and the guys got me so drunk that I passed out. It wasn't until the next day that I found out that they were taking pics with my topless body without my knowledge. I immediately withdrew from that school because the cop on campus nor the staff did a thing about the incident.
Let your kids try alcohol before they go off to school. They can learn reasonable limits at home, and feel empowered to say no when being bullied into drinking too much.
I agree. I think it’s fine for a teenager to drink alcohol to realize it’s effects, and see whether or not they like it. They can also get drunk (with supervision of course) so they can learn the potential consequences of it
How can you even encourage the drinking of alcohol? That's this issue here...despite all the facts we know about alcohol, despite all the deaths, violence , abuse , rapes, crimes and accidents we know have been a result of alcohol, you guys still encourage and accept drinking it. Our Creator did forbid alcohol for a reason and yet most choose to ignore His laws.
@@maggyhamada2560 because once you send your kid off to college, there’s no one to make sure they’re not drinking. If you’ve stopped them from consuming alcohol their entire life, they’re going to be curious and try it for the first time without your supervision and around folks that probably don’t care about their well-being. Best to educate them now before they hurt themselves later. I’ve grown up trying different drinks before, and since I went to college, I haven’t had a sip of alcohol nor had the urge to drink
That’s not gonna help if they’re still being forced to drink an entire handle in an hour. You don’t need to try alcohol to know that’s gonna lead to alcohol poisoning
@@maggyhamada2560 Yet he turned his own blood into wine ?? I grew up Catholic (went to Catholic school and mass 3x a year) and I have NEVER heard that alcohol is a sin. In Mormonism and some other religions it is but in regular Christianity/Catholicism it’s not. I agree that it’s super dangerous and should be more restricted tho.
The problem is that most of these kids who join fraternities have very limited experience with alcohol. I would occasionally drink beer or seltzer in high school but never anything harder than that. My first week of college I went to a party and managed to down a little over half a liter of vodka in under an hour and blacked out. The next morning I couldn't even drink water because I would throw it up immediately and it felt like someone repeatedly took a baseball bat to my stomach. I didn't touch any alcohol for over a year after that night. Even though it might sound cruel, I think students who join fraternities should be required to drink until they get the worst hangover ever but nothing more. Nothing made me respect alcohol more than that one experience.
Yeah I’m thinking most of these young men were sheltered. I had my first drink in high school (there’s always that one cool mom). So, I know immediately what shots of vodka can do! Before joining a fraternity they should have been exposed to liquor. These things wouldn’t keep happening. Sad.
I agree with you. Had the exact same thoughts, I also had my first drinks in high school, although I'd never consider a frat in the first place I definitely wouldn't reccomend a sheltered person just jump straight to liquor like that. Just some beer would do the trick, I hardly even touch liquor nowadays.. too many bad/blacked out memories for my taste lol
I felt sad for the family who lost her son and other family who almost lost her son why never filed death lawsuit It’s dangerous & emotional need to stop it before more dangerous
It's heartbreaking that all these young men died because of the idiocy of others. All frats and sororities have rules against hazing, these dumbasses that cost the lives of others took advantage of their position in their organization.

I go to the school Adam Oakes went to. It really affects everyone at the school here, and big changes have been made. It still isn’t enough though - it is really the most frustrating thing to have so many deaths from such preventable things.
Freedom of choice. The changes will last a few years; then the new students and staff will forget Adam and the changes they made, until the next hazing death.
Danny's pledge father went to my high school, it's absolutely despicable. And given the culture of my high school it doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
It seems like talking about peer pressure became "corny" and belong on old after school specials. All these kids need to know it's this is dangerous, stupid and probably won't get you the respect you think you will.
In these situations I hold the victims responsible just as much as the ones who come up with these dumb ideas. Alcohol is not water and you can abuse it and put yourself in danger. we all know what too much alcohol does so they did it at there own risk. It's sad that those kids wanted to be accepted so bad they was willing to do anything. They could have said no and walked away but they wanted popularity and acceptance from the group over their health.
It’s always been hard to be the one to act like an adult around the rest of your young friends because it’s so easy to make fun of someone for it.. that’s why we should trigger the way men carry themselves beginning at home mainly when they’re kids.

It’s incredibly upsetting to see these people lost their lives. These fraternity hazing‘s need to stop they’re very senseless and could be downright deadly.
That's crazy. I used to be an alcoholic and at most I could drink like half a bottle in 1 entire day. To drink an entire bottle in a couple of hours is asking for death.
I grew up and went through university in Canada. I had no idea what a fraternity or sorority was until I started seeing hazing stories from the UK and US. I wonder if the parents have considered suing the makers of the liquor their sons drank? If gun manufacturers can be sued for the damage their products cause, then so can the liquor industry
And tobacco companies get sued as well as unhealthy food companies.

I feel for these families as well especially because they lost a part of them due to stupidity and negligence of other people.

@@xwrtklook at what video you’re on. I’m definitely going to believe it!
@@BrookeKatherine. yes I agree with you
Look at the children and that would explain why they get away with it.
Force? Was there a gun to his head? 😂
Credit to these parents. To relive their horror over and over again of losing their child in the hope to stop this practice 🙏
This is so terrible. I live in a college town and the amount of alcohol p is unreal. So sorry to all these family's. This should never happen
You know what; these parents sometimes pressure their children to join these fraternities. Whether it’s family tradition or a way to network. The worst part is everyone including the parents and school officials know how bad hazing gets yet it’s a culture that lives on! The problem is bigger than the fraternities.
Yes, their parents did the same things. Not saying these parents, idk. Join the fraternity or sorority. I'm in my 60s, same story over again, 😔.
Liked because more ppl need to see this. Similar thing happened to me. I just didn't know how serious it was to drink that much. Many others need to know. A lot of ppl don't have others best interest at heart. Even if you've known that person for yrs 😫 Be on guard AT ALL TIMES!

Don’t forget that you can do other things that don’t involve alcohol and getting drunk and still have an eventful life, it’s just society that pushes people to drink to excess. Also, there’s nothing wrong with drinking alcohol, as long as you know how to control yourself and don’t get addicted to it
If you have to be drunk in order for your life to be “entertaining” then that in itself is sad

The Greek system is about worshipping Greek demonic deities!

Period!

Would be nice if this could be addressed in high school to prepare students how to handle these awful situations. It never was discussed in mine.
It was discussed at my high school, but my peers didn’t believe it happens. I hope they believe it now with all the stories coming out.
Just some beer would do the trick, I hardly even touch liquor nowadays.. too many bad/blacked out memories for my taste lol
or maybe get rid of alcohol hazing so incidents like this never happens?
Some people don’t get hangovers tho, no matter how much they drink. Your idea is very dangerous and is what leads to alcohol poisoning.

The entire frat house should be held on murder charges in each case. Hazing is bullying, and should be illegal.

Horrific. I am sorry these families have to go through this.
The colleges need to be held accountable as well

The question you want to ask is why the fraternity is still supported financially by some rich parents.

I went to a top 5 ranked university in the country… did not know that we had them until after graduating.
Where I went, during orientation they just gave us a speech about us being the future thought leaders of the country, they played some bagpipes for us, and we got cheap veggie burgers.
Being accepted is not worth losing your life for.
Hazing is basically why I never even considered joining Greek life during my college years. I already suffered bullying during my k-9 years, and was even suicidal during grades 5-6. I didn’t need any more on top of that
