    I’m a brain injury nurse in the uk and work in a unit where we see acquired brain injury all the time through drugs and alcohol - these patients need round the clock care in the form of medications and feed through a peg - risk of seizures and limb contractures - bed sores and chest infections well as double incontinence!!!!!! I don’t think this young man will get any better; he has no life and will continue to deteriorate!!!!! They bought him back but the “quality” of his life is so poor I don’t think he would want to live like that!!!!!

      All life has inherent value and it is not up to us to terminate life before its natural end. This was his fate. If you’re a student of science, then you must believe that methods of care and tech will progress to a better level where his quality of life can improve in the 21st Century. His life is no less valuable because he is disabled.

    I mean no disrespect to anyone, but could these accidents have something to do with the american alcohol policy (alcohol consuming not permitted until 21)?
    In my country, kids at twelve-thirteen sometimes drink alcohol and occasionally get drunk. Not that it's okay or acceptable, but at least it keeps these accidents from happening. I have never heard of such hazing accidents elsewhere than the US.

      Fraternities are kinda like drug cartels, they’re organizations dedicated to providing an illegal product. If we lower the drinking age to 18, we can end this.

    • @gmansard641
      @gmansard641 Год назад +3

      I very much agree. A few years ago there was such a death at my old university (where I was 40 years ago). In those days we could drink at 18, and while many people over-indulged, I don't remember anything as extreme as this. It was in the late 1980s that the age went to 21 nationwide.
      Drinking was nothing serious in my family. I can't remember when I first drank alcohol, I must have been 6 or 7. Very little, it was perhaps twice a year, but it was no big deal. I did over-indulge at my sister's wedding when I was 13. The result was that alcohol held no allure for me. When I got to university my drinking was quite moderate, which it remains today.
      American puritanism makes people think that they can control something by making laws against it. They approach so many things like that. . . don't teach about sex and teenage kids won't get pregnant, ban abortion and it will go away. Moderation is something so many Americans can't grasp.
