I think it’s a mix of bystander effect and awareness. When I was in school, it was very common to put a RUclips video on, put in some earbuds and eat quietly. I didn’t care to talk to the students around me, so I actively tuned them out. The choking student in this video didn’t appear to be gesturing or getting people to realize he was choking, so that could add to it. Students in their own world, not sure if their peer is making a joke, and untrained in what scenarios like this look like…it can easily add together to create a perceived apathy. I’ve seen other videos where students absolutely realize their peer is choking and take action, so I wouldn’t take it too seriously. This video in particular also seemed like they were young, maybe 14-15.

Exactly what my family did! We have one in each car, and one inside the house. We taught everyone in our family from my seven year old sibling to 17 year old sibling how to use it. Along with that, we also all learned how to do the Heimlich maneuver. I don't ever want to be in such a situation, but if I am, then I'll be prepared.
As a medic I’ve responded to a child in a hot car and he got lucky in that he didn’t die. His mother was eating inside a Subway and grandma was furious and said she would take her daughter to court to get custody of the child. The child had a horrible diaper rash and he was red and sweaty all over. Another time we were enroute back to the county after dropping off a patient at an ER outside of the county and we found a child locked in a car. A third time was a bit different but we found a toddler who was about 2 years old only in a diaper walking next to a busy highway. Family didn’t know he got out of the house.
My husband was driving home late from work, pulled into our neighborhood and thought, "What... what in the world is that?". He pulled his car over and walked between two of the houses. It was a naked 2 year old sitting on the ground. He flipped out and called 911. When police got there, I guess the mother had already called 911 because she was warming the bath water and couldn't find her two year old. The whole situation was incredibly lucky because I think it was 20 out so they told my husband in something like 15 minutes the child would have already had frostbite and within 45 would have died. Crazy crazy luck.
This video compilation brought me to tears, especially the ones with the drowning children (I saved my baby sister when I was seven and she was one), and the ones relating to animal attacks (again, baby sister vs. Great Dane and a Chihuahua vs. a Great Dane). The last dog did bite me, but it stopped attacking the little dog. Everyone survived. LOL

I don't judge, but why does any mother leave their small child in the car while going inside a store is beyond my comprehension. If I can't bring my daughter inside with me, I'd rather not go. I can't even think of a situation where this would be a thought. If it's an emergency I'll still wake her, or carry her in if she's asleep. During the day or night, I'd be too terrified or her being kidnapped. I don't even let her walk to the next aisle if I can't see her. I'm so glad the person who stole the car let the girl go and she was found safe.

Seeing the teens laugh and continue using their phones while their friend is choking is really really sad… worried more about people looking at them than saving their friend from death.
I love that the guy was more worried about the dog than himself when the guys swam over to help him out of the car when it fell into the marina. XD That's so sweet.
I live in Australia and it's friggin hot! Our kids all know "kids alive do the five" fence the pool, shut the gate, learn to swim it's great, supervise, watch ya mate and learn how to resuscitate!
At 11:03 imagine there wouldn’t have been someone there, the daughter probably wouldn’t had the chance to pull her mom up by her own… Imagine you need to let go of your mom and she falling down an edge in front of your own eyes and you never see her again after. I don’t think there is any chance to ever get that image out of you head :/ I am so glad that someone was there to help her
When the dad threw a backpack at the mountain lion that's actually a training technique called the bonker. It's meant to stop aggressive behavior or over arousal just before a dog or even a cat has a reaction. You throw an object or a rolled up towel at them. Basically he used a backpack and didn't know he was using an actual technique 😂
My dad had to do the Heimlich maneuver on me when I was a kid. I was choking on a butterscotch candy. It works really good. It literally flew out of my throat out of my mouth.
Mine was a malt ball candy. Perfectly round. I was about three years old. Mom grabbed me and ran to the hospital a block away. The running motion, bouncing like mad, caused the ball to pop right out before we got there! Mom decided to become a nurse because of that, so she never felt helpless again when something like that happened. She was a nurse until she passed in a car accident at 34 years old.
The kids sitting at the table with thier choking friend, had absolutely no reaction to it. Yes they knew he was being helped. But looked like they had no concern during it all.
Not a single teen in that lunchroom had any reaction. Not a single one got up to at the very least get other staff. The next generation of NPCs who have even worse Bystander Effect.

Ugh that’s why you don’t leave your kids in the car! Someone could steal it..not always just about overheating. That poor little girl was probably soooo confused and didn’t know where her mommy went. Makes me tear up thinking about my own 3 yr old.
Too bad there weren't iPhones back in the 70s when our pony walked on the concrete cover to the 7 foot by 7 foot septic tank in back of the farmhouse and landed in.... you guessed it. Up to its head. My dad had to pull it out.
@chssedad182 that happened to our neighbors pony it was on resuse 911, it happen in the late 90s I think it still on the channel , so happy for your horse to be okay,
When my mom was growing up, her horse Smoky liked to jump the fence into the neighbor's pasture. Really late one night, my Grandpa Dean woke her up and told her Smoky did it again, so she got her boots on and went outside. Somehow, the dumbass had gotten his front half over the fence, but couldn't quite drag his enormous booty across with him so he was just standing there half on this side and half on that side. Took Mom half an hour to get him unstuck and that's not including all the time she spent laughing at him.
The drowning ones get to me, i saved my at that time three year old brother from drowning three times despite being on the other side of the beach as my other brothers were def not made for looking out for a child he was literally next to them three times…
I once had to block traffic on a freeway in Utah to help two small dogs who were running down the freeway, I was able to help them jump over the wall to get to a field on the other side

Seeing the teens laugh and continue using their phones while their friend is choking is really really sad… worried more about people looking at them than saving their friend from death.
It’s really impressive how all these brave people and animals never give up to help
I love that the guy was more worried about the dog than himself when the guys swam over to help him out of the car when it fell into the marina. XD That's so sweet.
5:26 I’m crying because I know how scary it is to have something happen to my dog
I live in Australia and it's friggin hot! Our kids all know "kids alive do the five" fence the pool, shut the gate, learn to swim it's great, supervise, watch ya mate and learn how to resuscitate!
At 11:03 imagine there wouldn’t have been someone there, the daughter probably wouldn’t had the chance to pull her mom up by her own…
Imagine you need to let go of your mom and she falling down an edge in front of your own eyes and you never see her again after.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ACT TO SEE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE !!! A DAUGHTER HOLDING HER MOM WITH ONE ARM, NOT LETTING HER FALL TO HER DEATH !!!!
Many of us have almost fallen off the same trail at Multnomah Falls...i wish they would install rope guards there.
My dad had to do the Heimlich maneuver on me when I was a kid. I was choking on a butterscotch candy. It works really good. It literally flew out of my throat out of my mouth.
Glad you’re still here!
Im so glad we got an update on Hank!!
To all the amazing hero's God bless you. it's really good to see amazing people who care for others ❤️❤️
The kids sitting at the table with thier choking friend, had absolutely no reaction to it. Yes they knew he was being helped. But looked like they had no concern during it all.
I know absolutely disheartening 😢
They're children. They were probably in shock and terrified.
Not a single teen in that lunchroom had any reaction. Not a single one got up to at the very least get other staff. The next generation of NPCs who have even worse Bystander Effect.
The guy who saved that Maltese that looks like my baby thank you, you're my hero ❤❤❤
I love these stories ❤ thankful for good humans.
11:00 “i don’t know you but i love you”
God bless little Gavin for saving his mom ultimately becoming her hero ❤❤❤❤❤ and God bless all those responsible for rescueing all animals and children and God bless all animals and children for saving those they love or know and God bless those for rescueing friends or co workers
Children drowning is too close to home. In two instances, there was not such a happy ending, so these rescues really bring me joy!
God bless Mark for saving the poodle cotton and God bless the officer for rescueing the baby locked in the car alone!!!!!
Ugh that’s why you don’t leave your kids in the car! Someone could steal it..not always just about overheating. That poor little girl was probably soooo confused and didn’t know where her mommy went. Makes me tear up thinking about my own 3 yr old.
Exactly I burst into tears thinking about how she would have felt In that dark empty carpark
In crisis, we see heroes! God bless them all🙏🏻👍🏻👏🏻
*like i said im just a dad* yes your a dad doing a hell of a job i can tell you were raised right
😮 I’m soo glad they were all ok! Of course the lil chihuahua!❤🐕🐾🫶🏼
Too bad there weren't iPhones back in the 70s when our pony walked on the concrete cover to the 7 foot by 7 foot septic tank in back of the farmhouse and landed in.... you guessed it. Up to its head. My dad had to pull it out.
@chssedad182 that happened to our neighbors pony it was on resuse 911, it happen in the late 90s I think it still on the channel , so happy for your horse to be okay,
Oooohhh, yuck.
That’s sad knowing CPR is a huge necessity!
The drowning ones get to me, i saved my at that time three year old brother from drowning three times despite being on the other side of the beach as my other brothers were def not made for looking out for a child he was literally next to them three times…
" this is so fun!!!"
ok but why was that so adorable :)
The silver fox in the pickup was so calm because She's used to her husband's terrible driving 😂😂😂
I could like each clip individually as I watch because they're all amazing!
Really wish these parents would stop leaving their fkn children in cars.
I once had to block traffic on a freeway in Utah to help two small dogs who were running down the freeway, I was able to help them jump over the wall to get to a field on the other side
Such angels and heroes
Dude that cop saving Hank was insane, the two windows in one hit is impressive he knew what he had to do and how to do it
How did that baby get in that shed? Did the child get in there on their own? Thats incredible! Thank goodness they found the baby! Thats a miracle!
