- A snow storm continues to hammer the South from Arkansas through Tennessee into far northern Mississippi and Alabama, causing mass chaos on the roads in the Nashville area. Numerous accidents throughout the Metro overnight. Storm total snowfall could exceed 7-8 inches where the strongest bands persist. This will likely be the biggest snowfall in Nashville since 1996. We also found the perfect snow chasing vehicle in this dune buggy doing donuts on Broadway St. last night in Downtown Nashville. Stay for the drone footage of Tennessee Titans stadium!

People who live in the northern states that are known to get a lot of dry snow always seem to make snide remarks on how us Tennesseans don't know how to drive in snow. Well let me just clarify that we get a lot of sleet or freezing rain that covers the first layer of our roads out here a lot of times followed by snow making hazardous road conditions. I don't care how skilled of a driver you are in driving in snow; It's the ice that will get ya most of the time!
Not if your car has 4-wheel drive
We have a 1/4" ice under our snow in Michigan. No businesses were open Friday and Saturday
The north east also puts so much salt and sand on roads that car falls apart from rust
It's the worst when the slushy snow refreezes.

I just came back to Texas from a week in a cabin up on a mountain in Servier. I am SOOOOO glad I missed this. Those little one lane nightmares up in the mountains, people driving around corners in the middle of the road hauling ass and 75 ft drops with no guardrails. I have family in Floyd county KY and I thought those were bad, I was wrong. Beautiful country, nice people, extremely crowded. Nooooooo thanks.

Memphis got a solid 4 to 6 too. 6.5 in my backyard a half mile from the 240 to 40 flyover in Northeast Memphis Berclair area. Haven't seen a trace of pavement anywhere.

I used to live in Nashville in '85-'86, moving from Oklahoma, I remember it snowed and was so beautiful!
The best thing about these winter snow/ice storms: watching them from Central California. Low of 41 and high of 66 this week, slight chance of rain and foggy mornings.

Now I see the dune buggy was lights. I thought it was flame blasts. Looking on the little screen. There’s a guy who drives one in Hollywood but just for display because he’s built vehicles for movies. He lives in Las Vegas and is friends with German in Venice who has a channel and would have contact information. 🤟🏼if you ever wanted cool vehicle extras. I’m sure you don’t need any gas eating extras but no doubt the guy could add just about any visual features.

My son lives just north east of Nashville and said he has 8 inches of snow
We had thunder snow just a few years ago,North of Nashville I recorded 11 inches total, and snowfall rates were 2 inches a hr
i live about a minute from the hotel you stayed at, this part of town got hit harder than anywhere else in nashville but doesnt seem that bad honestly,

The problem with snow in the south is its ice underneath the snow. If it was just snow it would be nothing but when you have snow on top of ice it's a problem.
