Craig bellamy should have played in the 2007 champions league final, just have him run at 39 year old Maldini. it could have been a different outcome.

Exactly at that time, Milan’s defence was old and slow and had a known weakness in the air. So Benitez kept Crouch and Bellamy on the bench 😂

@@dman9152 Pennant played albeit on the other wing and didn't show his pace in that final. He was more a tricky winger rather than a pace merchant, which Bellamy was an excellent powerful shot btw too.
But yeah Benitez played Kuyt I'm guessing wide right?

Robbie Keane was a strange signing. As a Liverpool supporter I was made up with him but Benitez just didn’t want him even though he scored a few goals. I think Rick Parry might have had a say on him coming. That’s why Rafa sold him back to Tottenham after 4-5 months. Liverpool nearly won the league that season as well. Imagine if Keane had of stayed? Could have won it.

cost us the league cos Torres got injured.

You could see with a different coach how it might have worked, because Robbie was a proper #10 and Torres could play so we'll off the shoulder, leading the line. Could have recreated Keane/Defoe, except better. But as Bellamy said, Robbie wasn't allowed to be Robbie.

From I heard Benitez didn’t want Keane, but the board signed him. So Benitez refused to play him out of principle. I get it, but always felt sorry for Keane he was a great player and would have been great for us, and Benitez and the board killed his career as collateral damage.

Look, I'm a United fan, but Benitez set Liverpool up brilliantly in midfield.
Mascherano and Alonso were world class, Gerrard overrated. They did the Donkey Work for Gerrard to get the goals and glory. Same with Bellingham now that Kroos/Modric/Camavinga can't bail him out for England. Even Chelsea Lampard would get the glory but Makelele or Ballack/Essien/Mikel would do the donkey work in midfield and keeping the ball all that stuff for Lampard to score an unbelievable amount of goals late from the box too.
Hyypiä also led the backline exceptionally well. After he left you were crap defensively until maybe when Robertson and Van Dijk came.
      Benitez is underrated
If not for Ronaldo and Vidic dragging United over the line, Liverpool would have won it in 2009. Benitez was a much better manager than Gerrard ever was as a player.
