  • This is an easy way to transfer and print any photo on to glass. it works with inkjet and laser jet photo prints. And instead of gel medium we are going to use inexpensive cheap acrylic glass paints for this image transfer. It also works with color and black and white photos.

    I have a pile of old panes in the basement. I could make presents out of them. I think I agree with the gel medium idea. I need to look into that.

      Hi David 😊 the gel medium transfer to glass is also easier to do. I think the gel is more "gluey" than the paints, so it sticks better to the glass. I like your idea of making gifts 👍

    Expensive is right! Liquitex and Golden are super expensive because they are professional paints. They do have a cheaper line, but not that much cheaper.
    Also, there is a line called open flow that is made by Golden (Open acyrlics), which come in both opaque and translucent.
    For those who don't have the money for professional paint, the basic stuff is fine. You can mix any color with red, blue, yellow, black, and white. Yes, there are a lot of other colors and the premixed seems best, and sometimes it is, but it can get expensive. A good set of reasonably good, well pigmented primary colors is all you need. However, to mix specific shades will take practice, but that's what every painter before the 20th century used.
    Regardless of what paint you use, the quality of the photo (basically contrast and a good balance between light and dark ... because white won't transfer and will be transparent remember), and how quickly you get the print on the page. The faster you get the image layed on the wet paint, the better chance of a good transfer, just so you know. Have your image ready to go as soon as you're satisfied with your base layer.
    Question:
    If this method requires you to bake in the oven, what's different for other methods that use acrylic medium? The difference in the medium as it's a "medium" and not paint?
    I've had a great deal of success transferring magazine images to acrylic projects by the simple method you describe elsewhere, and that doesn't require heating, but only that the image be dry before removing the paper.
    So, why heat for this method?

    • @NitsaCreativeStudio
      @NitsaCreativeStudio  Год назад

      Glass paint (as well as the glass medium) needs to be baked in order to cure, but if you don't want or can't bake it, you need to let it cure for 2 weeks.

      Hi Peaches, you need to use something like a photo editing software or app. Word is probably not the right one to use for this purpose. If you don't have any editing app on your phone or computer, consider downloading and using gimp (it's free!) from www.gimp.org/downloads/ I hope this helps 🙏🏼

    Re latex paint not sticking to the glass. You are talking about smooth, clean shiny glass. What if you used FROSTED glass????? It would have a microscopic texture that paint would stick to and give it an interesting effect - don't you think?? Just subbed. Working with furniture restoration, repair and decorating! 8/11/22 Thank You!!

    • @NitsaCreativeStudio
      @NitsaCreativeStudio  2 года назад

      You're probably right and the paint will stick better to the frosted glass. Thank you for subbing and good luck with the furniture restoration which I also love 🙏🏼🌼💛
