These ladies were the ultimate idols. Highly respected by other 2nd gen groups, and highly influential on the 3rd gen groups. CL is amazing. She was truly born to be a performer. She is a fine leader of the group, despite being 7 years younger than Bom and Dara. Minzy is the maknae. She was only 15 when they debuted and 22 when she left the group. Dara always seemed to be the fan favorite. Minzy getting the least fan attention. Minzy is my bias of the group. Something about her vocal tone and style captivates me. She's also the best dancer of the 4. I suggest checking out their debut, "Fire". There are 2 versions of the MV. I prefer the street version over the space version myself. Cuz 21. 😂 All 4 were very very popular when they were together. They were absolutely considered the in the top group during their 6 years. Yes, only 6 years. So sad. YG screwed them over and no one should ever forgive him. Bom and Dara are quite a bit older than CL and Minzy. At the time when they debuted Minzy was only 16 and held back quite a bit by YG. She never got to do a solo debut like the other members. Her talent is probably greater than the others. Not only her voice, but her dancing is off the charts. In fact she runs a dance studio. Dara was already mega famous in the Philippines and to this day she is still a superstar there. There’s an old documentary of Dara before her 2NE1 career and there are actual scary scenes of crowds that are seriously out of control around her.

TD, here’s a tip for you for a group to react to in the future: XG. They are a global pop group of 7 Japanese girls who trained in the K-pop system but who sing in English. They trained for 5 years and debuted in 2022. They are in a world tour right now and will be in LA October 6. I’m not joking when I tell you that they crush it. Their debut song was called Tippy Toes. Their music style has changed quite a bit since and they also can dance like a professional dance crew. 1. I'm surprised that "I'm the Best" didn't make this video; it is 2NE1's most popular song (or at least it was their breakout song for people outside of Korea getting into K-pop). 2. I think "Lonely" was a big deal when it came out; my recollection is that a lot of contestants on K-Pop Star 2 covered it for the competition. 3. CL was hands-down the most popular in the group. She had the most solo releases, including a cover of "Lifted," originally by the Method Man (of the Wu Tang Clan rap group), who made an appearance in the video where he has a dance off with her. She also was the guest collaborator on Psy's "Daddy." I think Dara, as the visual, got the most CF deals, and Bom appeared the most on variety shows. In particular, I remember Bom on the show Roommates (where a bunch of celebrities from different fields lived together in a big house), until the drug scandal happened, and she disappeared from the show (she was accused of smuggling drugs into Korea because she brought in an amphetamine for which she had a valid U.S. prescription bust was illegal in Korea; it was either because of this or because of Papa YG's connections that resulted in no prosecution, although Bom did disappear from public view to "reflect"). I'm looking forward to seeing more of their personalities. Who knows, my bias might change. 🤭
1. I'm surprised that "I'm the Best" didn't make this video; it is 2NE1's most popular song (or at least it was their breakout song for people outside of Korea getting into K-pop).
2. I think "Lonely" was a big deal when it came out; my recollection is that a lot of contestants on K-Pop Star 2 covered it for the competition.
3. CL was hands-down the most popular in the group. She had the most solo releases, including a cover of "Lifted," originally by the Method Man (of the Wu Tang Clan rap group), who made an appearance in the video where he has a dance off with her. She also was the guest collaborator on Psy's "Daddy." I think Dara, as the visual, got the most CF deals, and Bom appeared the most on variety shows. In particular, I remember Bom on the show Roommates (where a bunch of celebrities from different fields lived together in a big house), until the drug scandal happened, and she disappeared from the show (she was accused of smuggling drugs into Korea because she brought in an amphetamine for which she had a valid U.S. prescription bust was illegal in Korea; it was either because of this or because of Papa YG's connections that resulted in no prosecution, although Bom did disappear from public view to "reflect"). Minzy, as the maknae, wasn't given many solo projects by YG (see also Seungri), and there was a rather bitter and public falling-out between her and the company; it seems that the rest of the group were still behind her because video clips of her were featured prominently in the music video for 2NE1's valedictory song, "Goodbye."
4. If you like 2NE1's 2nd Gen. girl crush vibe, you might also enjoy 4Minute (or, because of Cube's blatant favoritism, Hyuna and the others - kind of ironic now). I think their most popular song is "Crazy," but my favorite is "Volume Up." Thier final title song was "Hate," produced by Skrillex, which is great as well (I still think they left a lot of money on the table why they did not sell merch of the sweatshirts they were wearing in the video). However, they got popular in Korea from their earlier releases such as "Hot Issue." There are three songs with videos that stray from their usual style: "Heart to Heart" with a cutesy concept that was more common at the time, "Cold Rain," a ballad, and "24/7" from the subunit 2YOON (because it was a duo of Gayoon and Jiyoon) which takes its inspiration from American country music of all things.

I heard briefly about some scandal that Bom was involved in but didn't know any details about it. I kinda remember someone saying she suffered from mental illness and had to take medication that caused her to gain weight.

@@tdragonreactions I'll 2nd the 4minute recommendation. All talented vocalists(not MMM level but), they all can sing and rap. Volume up definitely, Crazy, and Hate, along with HUH and Mirror Mirror. As far as 2ne1 individual collabs, in 2019 Bom released the song 4:44 featuring Wheein.
