  • Returning to Lake Powell a few days after the reopen for a two day fish & camp trip. I wasn't the only one, the lake was very busy!
    Day one was dominated by the Smallie, caught loads of em. From Rock Creek to the San Juan, nearly every cast I'd pull a Smallie up. Only at camp, fishing from shore before dark did I get a couple small Stripers and then later after dark, chummed some catfish in.
    Awesome to be back on the Lake!!
    Thanks for watching, Tight Lines!

    I gotta say, that you and Jan are the best fishing partners that i enjoy watching, and i love your videos, i love fishing at that banks by the Dam, and also around the docks at antelope point when i was young, and i still miss fishing with my father, my father taught me how to fish, and i still miss the smell fish in the morning, afternoon, and evening... Good luck and great job for your videos, it brings back memories to my childish days of fishing, praying for you and everyone that goes fishing out at the lake, and thank you for your vids again...

    Hey! I just found your channel and I subscribed! I’m heading to lake powell this week and trying to catch some bass. Any recommendations? I’ll be around antelope point marina

      Thank you for subscribing and good luck with your trip! If you mean Smallmouth, Ned rigs usually work well out to 30ft. Fish rock piles. I like to troll RatLtraps and crank baits as well. Also check out the latest Waynes Words fishing report!

      UFIRST OUTDOORS thank you so much! I’ll be sure to try those out. What bait do you use for catfish?

    • @precipiceofgrind
      @precipiceofgrind  4 года назад

      I've used chicken, hot dog, catfish nugs...all worked fine. they seem to enjoy hot dogs. I hear shrimp really gets em going!

    I will be fishing lake Powell for the first time in the middle of June. Any tips or pointers on fishing for smallmouth/largemouth and stripers during this time?

    • @precipiceofgrind
      @precipiceofgrind  4 года назад

      It really depends year to year. A great resource are the fishing reports put out by Waynes Words. Usually Stripers begin 'slurping' on the surface in June and the Smallmouth fishing is still pretty good from shore out to 30ft deep. Trolling the back of canyons and fishing rock piles will usually produce.

    How fast are you trolling those shad raps? I really need to get down to Powell. It looks amazing.

    • @precipiceofgrind
      @precipiceofgrind  4 года назад

      My speedometer doesn't work but I'm trolling somewhere around 2000/2100 rpms, a little fast with my 40HP.

    How much fuel do you use to your camp and back??

    • @precipiceofgrind
      @precipiceofgrind  4 года назад +1

      I'm pretty certain I used between 16 and 18 gallons on this particular trip. I run a Yamaha 40HP.
