Between Andrea, "Jack Logan" (The Ancient Tradition Podcast), and Dave Butler (In The Language of Adam), I think I've learned about a hundred times more about the temple in the last 6 months, than I have in my previous several decades of temple attendance.

The Ancient Tradition podcast is great. I think it would benefit every member of the church to explore the truth in the ancient tradition. It goes super deep. Aside from the Ancient Tradition podcast Dave Butler, Margaret Barker and a few others are who I have learned from the most. I think Jaq (Jack?) Logan is an alias and I want to respect her privacy if she doesn't want to be known but it would be great to explore her findings more. I hope she writes a book.

I’m in AZ! Would love to to come to Your study group lol 😊
    There’s so much to unpack…
I think of the female connotation of the tree and the monthly fruit in relation to a woman’s monthly cycle, the 12 tribes as the family of God symbolized in the branches produced by her - growing up from the tree,. Then the water and blood ties to the birth experience and then baptism related to the womb filled with “life giving water” and us being birthed of a woman and then later birthed a new creature through the blood and water of Christ’s sacrifice -- I love the feminine divine / Heavenly Mother that is woven through and symbolized through so much that has been “veiled” and is now being unveiled. I think about the relationship between Her and Jesus and what kind of covenant has possibly or surely has been made between Elohim- both Father and Mother and Christ to bring us all home to them… Mother waiting and watching for our return much like a missionary homecoming.
I love all you’ve shared - there’s so many layers and all things denote there is a God.

37:02 I’m just making the realization that coming to earth and having this separation is more than just a “test.” This separation is a part of the covenant we made with the bridegroom before we even came to earth.

The word ‘Keep’ has taken on new meaning for me that goes along with the ‘bride’ inviting others to come to Christ. Often I think of ‘keep’ as an admonition to follow the words of the covenant or to be faithful to them, and the other meaning would be to keep the words safe, to preserve, to prevent them from being rewritten or changed. We are the keepers of the word.

In the Gospel of John there are a set of 6 stories, three sets of two stories. In the first story of each set, someone comes to Jesus. In the second story of each set, Jesus comes to them. In the first set Nicodemos comes to Jesus. In the second story Jesus comes to the woman at the well. In the second set, a Nobleman comes to Jesus to ask Jesus to heal his son. In the second story Jesus comes to a man at the Pool of Bethesda.
In the third set five thousand people come to Jesus, and are fed. In the second story Jesus comes to 12 scared men on the sea of Galalee, and he calms the sea.
My take on what John is saying...all who come to Jesus will be fed. All who believe in Jesus will be saved.

❤ Wonderful sisters! Thank you for this. So much intricate beauty woven into the symbols of the scriptures and the temple. You made me think of some guidance I received during the trials over the past 4 years. I had some serious health scares and as a Wife and Mother, I have a tendency to be very anxious. Plus a worrier. The Lord said to me , " I am the Alpha and Omega, quit worrying about the middle!" It was so perfect and helped me to go through all of my hospital visits, infusions and surgery. Thanks y'all. Keep it up. I love reading along and studying with others. 🙌🙏👑❤️

I had a similar "Alpha and Omega" experience, though under different circumstances. It began in the Celestial room of the San Anotonio Temple, about 15 years ago, as I sat with my wife, my daughter and her husband, my son who had just returned from a mission, and a son who was about to leave on his mission. As I sat there, taking in my entire family, at the time, there in the Celestial room, the Spirit whispered to me that this was a preview of the next life, where I would enjoy my entire family in the Celestial kingdom. Then, several years later, as my children have struggled in various ways, it seemed as if there was no way that promise could be fulfilled. It was confusing and frustrating. As a temple worker, standing in the place of the Savior and pronouncing His blessings of posterity and eternal priesthood on others, my mind often wandered to that promise, and how it had seemingly fallen apart. After a while, some bitterness began to fester, as none of it seemed possible. This went on, and built up for a few months, I'm ashamed to say. Then one day the bitterness and sadness peaked. But as I spoke the words of the ordinance, the Spirit brought the promise to my remembrance and reassured me that it was still valid. How would it be fulfilled? I didn't know. But the assurance was clear. Then, after several weeks, the reassurance began to fade, and doubt crept in, and the frustration became real as I just could not see how the promise could be valid. And then again, at about the same place in the wording of the ordinance, the Spirit spoke. This time it was more forceful, and was as much a reprimand as an assurance. "I have promised you twice, now--in my Holy Temple, no less. Why do you not believe I can do this? I will do it!" If not those exact words, that is certainly how I would characterize the impression that came. Duly reprimanded, I have decided to rely on His promise and leave it in His hands even though nothing has really changed at this point. Alpha and Omega, indeed. The middle is less important, and will soon be the past. Just keep plugging along!

When you pointed out that the leaves were for the healing of the people, I thought that’s a symbol for our duty as members of the church. Once we feel the redemptive and healing power of drawing near to Christ in the temple, we covenant to consecrate our time, talents, and everything else we have been blessed with, to healing of others as we know with them. I am amazed at how many people I have encountered who are having spiritual promptings and are recognizing there is a spiritual battle going on right now in our world. I can only imagine how thrilling it would be to have all those people I’ve met commit to being baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost so they can have MORE of those spiritual promptings, guidance, and love!

Thank you ladies for these beautiful deeper dive discussions of the WORD of God.
As you all continue to press in, please consider the following:
Church sacraments are "given" as a metaphor too. Sacraments represent a DEPICTION of the Spiritual reality. So yes, we can continue "practicing'" these depictions of FAITH ... BUT ALSO Jesus says there is a TIME when true worshipers will worship IN TRUTH and Spirit ... so, REMEMBER that we can APPLY that understanding to the LIVING WATERS of our everyday LIFE ... because WE are the living tabernacles. WE are human 'temples'.
So, here's an Example: as we GO about our DAY. Say a general COMMENT comes along the way ... this comment may SUDDENLY be transformed, as in Spiritually highlighted by the Holy Spirit ... and TIED in connection to a specific BIBLE verse. What I mean by that, is that the LIVING water of a comment that SPRINGS forth from an EARTHLY comment ... will suddenly ABLAZE in an illuminated WAY that HARKENS us to REMEMBER a KEY passage of scripture.
Those mere common words are suddenly transformed into a much HIGHER meaning ... as the LORD uses them to CAPTURE something greater.
We suddenly are 'caught up" in the HEARING of something more spiritually profound.
THAT is an example of how our Lord TAKES US ... "there" ... in rememberence as HE turns the living WATERS of our life INTO spiritual WINE.
It's WHY the BRIDES ... those "Virgins" have to keep the OIL full.
In READINESS ... ( read ) the Sacred Word and BE READY to understand more when our BRIDEgroom ... GROOMS us.
Our Lord had to depart one WAY... in ORDER for the Holy Spirit to COME.
... and HE comes in the DUE times as we continue to SEEK Him.

This is a little of topic, but... I'm beginning to wonder if (in light of the realization of the backsliding of Israel in disbelieving in the Messiah) the frequent talk of fornications is not all literal, but used as a metafor for not adhering to the Messianic covenant of taking upon them selves the name of the messiah. Just as in the bethrothal the bride could be put away for fornication, for not being faithful.

I’ve been pondering this week about how members if the church can get so caught up in the keeping and breaking of rules that we can drive ourselves crazy.
My daughter who is on a mission has felt tortured by her inability to fully keep the rules perfectly. And the reason it feels like torture is because we can’t perfectly keep all the rules, but because we are in a relationship with Christ, we will be ok.
Admittedly, the way I have interpreted the focus on the covenant path has seemed like focus on keeping all the rules and it’s made me wonder why we keep saying it that way.
I appreciate your insight regarding covenants. It’s all about relationship not our ability to perfectly keep the rules.
I think so many are leaving the church exhausted and defeated. Feeling they will never be able to live up to the standards and that incorrect interpretation is costing people their relationship with God.

Is it river of living water out of the BELLY because the belly symbolises fullness and satisfaction (never thirst or hunger again), and then there is more to give, it flows from the belly outwards, symbolising it satisfies you and then there's more to give, it satisfies other members of creation too. Or may even symbolise that through Christs power we can spread his living water as His hands.

In the first few verses of the Book of Revelation, the Apostle John states that he is writing concerning that which must shortly come to pass.
He is writing to someone living in his day concerning things about to happen in the near term; i.e. in that person's lifetime. He is not writing concerning things to occur 1700-1800 years later.
Yes, when one skips around, and finds verses to their liking, one can make the Book of Revelation say what they want it to say.

The Book of Revelation is about the impending return of the planets Mars (Apollyon), Venus (woman dressed in the sun), and Saturn (New Jerusalem) to the earth prior to the 2nd Coming. This will reestablish the planetary conditions necessary to recreate the Edenic condition. The 12 fruit are 12 planets, plus the 3 above will be the 15 planets described in Abraham's hypocephalus facsimile, which is a star map of astronomical conditions before the flood. Revelation is not feel good fluff.

we've been spoiled by Dave and Mike pulling the scriptures into frame for today - giving the translations, depth of meaning, and historical perspectives to line it all up. This was more like 2nd hour Sunday school to me. It's not bad, just not what I anticipated. I'm not being a hater, just a lover of the really deep dives that Mike and Dave take. THOSE opened my eyes and the scriptures for deeper independent study.

    • @ccversions9882
      @ccversions9882 6 дней назад +1

Don't get me wrong--Dave and Mike are great, but they don't convey the full measure of beauty that is inherent in the gospel as well as these Sisters.
I don't think your comment was meant to be a men vs. women thing, but more of a preference in the approach. Since the world is caught up in a shallow, superficial portrayal of material beauty, I appreciate and support the opportunity to see articulate women discussing meaningful gospel topics instead of ephemeral fashions, etc. This is the best exposition on living water that I have come across.
During Covid, I became intrigued about living water through Dave's book, "Plain and Precious Things." In Chapter 2 he writes: "Again, I don’t know what the rod was in a tangible, physical sense-a possibility presents itself a little later, but it remains a possibility only-any more than I know what the waters were, but over and over, we look to temple texts and find those items there." I have been drawn to learn more about living water ever since.
Some see living water in the creation story. One early application of it may connect back to the garden. From Wikipedia, under "ritual washing in Judaism": Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan in Waters of Life connects the laws of impurity to the narrative of the garden. According to Genesis, Adam and Eve had brought death into the world by eating from the Tree of Knowledge. Kaplan points out that most of the laws of impurity relate to some form of death (or in the case of niddah the loss of a potential life). One who comes into contact with one of the forms of death must then immerse in water which is described in Genesis as flowing out of the Garden of Eden (the source of life) in order to cleanse oneself of this contact with death (and by extension of sin)." We see echoes in baptism.
Might there be some sort of symbolism in Pharoah's daughter naming the baby who would one day deliver Israel, Moses, because “I drew him out of the water” (Exod 2:10)? Interestingly, I think Moses also met his future wife at a well.
From Jewish Encyclopedia, "Isa. xii. 3: 'Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation' (Suk. 48b). [Remember, Yeshua literally means salvation.] "The treatise Sukkah tells us the water offering was a plea for abundance during Israel's rainy season," which begins in the fall (comp. R. H. i. 2, 16a; Ta'an. 2b)." I even love this podcast's timing--fall.
During the water pouring ritual, people gathered at the Temple’s Court of the Women and sang praises called the Hallel: Psalms 113-118. A platform was built in the temple courtyard for women to witness the festivities.
Living water is such an appropriate topic to introduce a platform that features women. We now not only get to see and hear, but also be represented with a greater fulness in gospel thought and approach. Thank you, Stick of Joseph.

I'm glad Andrea is getting more air time! This is great! I would like to add that the water to wine miracle is also symbolic of Christ bleeding from every pore in the garden, his sweat being blood. Also, in D & C 27, Joseph was not told to switch to water for the sacrament. He was told the saints should make their own wine, but also that the emblems of the sacrament could be substituted. An institutional switch to water didn't happen until 1906.

@@ericchapman5923 I don’t think your history right . Try to search better ok . The doctrine and covenants history which you really need to know to understand doctrine and covenants tells us that just Joseph and Emma and the two Johnson husband and wife were together at their farm . Emma was to receive the Holy Ghost . Joseph smith says he needed to do the sacrament . It was just the four of them . Joseph left to go by wine. He was meant by a messenger who was actually Jesus Christ . Who told Joseph to go back and use water . As enemies were going to put poison in it . This is when the water was changed to wine.

While water was and could be used from that time for the sacrament, most of the general membership still used wine in sacrament meetings. In 1861, families sent by Brigham Young to Utah's "Dixie" would produce crops including vineyards for the purpose of sacramental wine and by the next decade Church vineyards were producing as much as 3000 gallons a year. It wasn't until 5 July 1906, when the First Presidency and Council of the Twelve began using water instead of wine for their sacrament meetings and the change was implemented universally throughout the church.
