Hearing about the historical removal of the feminine from the gospel really makes me think of modern culture and how feminism has been working to remove the idea of the feminine from gender and culture - to the point that some people will now deny that there is even a physical difference between male and female.

No one has removed the feminine from the gospel. Christ literally compared his church to a bride. The first person to see Jesus risen was a woman. Mary, the mother of Jesus was blessed by God, to carry his body to birth and raise and protect him. Like, what are you even trying to say?

As a woman I love the words of the Hymn 292
“O My Father” written in 1804 by an incredible woman Eliza Snow.
    3. I had learned to call thee Father,
Thru thy Spirit from on high,
But, until the key of knowledge
Was restored, I knew not why.
In the heav’ns are parents single?
No, the thought makes reason stare!
    Truth is reason; truth eternal
Tells me I’ve a mother there.
    4. When I leave this frail existence,
When I lay this mortal by,
Father, Mother, may I meet you
In your royal courts on high?
Then, at length, when I’ve completed
All you sent me forth to do,
    With your mutual approbation
Let me come and dwell with you.

I've lost count of the times I said WOW while watching this conversation! My jaw fell loose each time!
The water, the spring, the living water, the spring in Eden...! The plurality of Gods, the mother, the divine feminine, the breasts with milk and the bees with honey, the woman, the young girl, the virgin not A virgin...!
The original Hebrew and Greek words and how they clarify the texts we have had handed down to us!
The corroboration of The Book of Mormon for these truths! The importance we place on families...!
I am genuinely gobsmacked (old English word for being astonished)!
I wish I could meet up with Margaret for a long chat over afternoon tea! Such a clever, educated, erudite, scholar and teacher!
Thank you so much for this. I'll be watching it over and over while scripture marking! I had a few epiphanies of my own during the course of the video! 😊

The conversation around 55:34 had Margret wrestling with this new awareness of the Book of Mormon confirming what she already believes to be true. It truly is Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and of the Almighty God. God bless you all. I have had many obstacles in returning to the covenant path, with the most unique challenges accumulated during my time away, but everything in my life has prepared me for it and the Almighty God continues to support me through it. There’s have been many sleepless nights that have turned into profound spiritual growth and comfort through prayer and understanding after hearing the rediscovery of truths within this channel. This almond with my patriarchal blessing has strengthened my testimony of the gospel and reminds me of who I am. It inspires me to behave in accordance to the promises I’ve joyfully made.

My father would've loved this very conversation. A few years before his passing(little more than a decade ago) he kept having these dreams about two things, California sinking into the Pacific and our Heavenly Mother. He was very hesitant to share that specific dream because he felt like the dreams he was having, made him feel like he needed to be extra careful with sharing it. He told my siblings and I that reason being why he's kept that dream so sacred for so long is because he sees how the world uses God's name in vain. She's much too precious to be revealed to the world to be called out of her name. So he felt her existence was just too holy for the world.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. Did Joseph know more about our Mother in Heaven than he was allowed to reveal but could only hint at in the endowment?

Butter and honey is also a good way to describe breast milk. Its mainly sugar and fat as well as antimicrobial properties (that honey also has). Colostrum, the first milk after birth even looks like honey. It seals a baby's intestines. Again, to protect them from microbes. But bees are are also very female-centric, and they collect nectar from flowers, symbols of creation, all while aiding in the creation.

For us, milk also comes from a cow. I think there's a lot more going on with the cow symbolism in ancient traditions than we understand also (ex. Baal, Hinduism). In the scriptures, Christ is called a bull. Joseph is a well, which is appropriate for The Stick of Joseph podcast 😃

This was very interesting, thank you. I was reading the book of Jasher recently and when it talks about the evils of Sodam and Gomorrah the final straw that got God to destroy the evil cities was that they took a woman, who took pity on a traveler and fed him (it was their custom to let those that visited their city starve to death and then rob them) and they poured honey on this lady and let bees come and sting her to death. So in the context of this video this is symbolic of them basically profaning the temple and blasphemy against not just God but Heavenly Mother!

    Hi,
About Alma 13 - Alma is making clear his authority is from his ordination in the “Holy Order”, also know as “the familiar order”(Pres Benson) or also “Patriarchal Order” - where women receive her power and authority in the priesthood from her Temple Endowment and Temple Sealing. We have 2 structures of the priesthood in our Dispensation - the Ecclesiastical Order and the Patriarchal Order, in the beginning the focus was in the Ecclesiastical Order, but now we are switching the focus to the Patriarchal Order and that’s why church now is home-centered and church supported, and the Temples are popping all over the World and the Knowledge about women it’s been restored. (Check the work of BYU professor Barbara Morgan about the Patriarchal Order), she explains really well.

So Dave, When I read Genesis 49:25 It says "the Almighty shall bless thee with...the blessings of the breast and the womb" which simply means the blessings of procreation and posterity which is part of the Abrahamic covenant.
Also, when reading about Alma at the waters of Mormon, the focus is not on the fountain of pure water, or simply a spring, or thicket that would naturally grow there, or the wild beasts that would naturally gather at a clean water source. Rather the focus is on the baptismal covenant Alma and his converts entered into and the eternal life and redemption they would receive through the Atonement of Christ.
Also when interpreting the meaning of "authority of the Almighty" you have to consider what Joseph Smith's understanding of the word "Almighty" was. In translating the Book of Mormon through the Nephite interpreters or Urim and Thummim as Joseph called them, Joseph would have had to rely on his own lexicon to convey the meaning of the characters as recorded on the plates. In D&C 9:1-8, the process of the Book of Mormon is described when Oliver Cowdery failed in his attempt to translate. OC was told by the Lord in verses 7-8, " Behold, you have not understood; you have supposed that I would give it unto you, when you took no thought save it was to ask me. 8 But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right." In other words, to translate the BOM, using his own lexicon, Oliver Cowdery, like Joseph Smith, would have had to search out in his mind the English words, phrases or sentences to use to convey the meaning of the Reformed Egyptian characters as given by the gift and power of God.

The ancient anglo-saxons had a solstice/Christmas Eve festival we don't know much about, but it was called "mother's night" and was written about by bede 2. It is common for practicing Jewish Mothers to give their sons blessings, which can include laying on of hands

There is an old manuscript of the Gospels in Hebrew, which has several of the books which appear to have been originally written in Hebrew. It is called Vatican EBR.100. The references to Mary in Matthew call her "The Virgin", and in several other locations Jesus calls Himself "the Son of the virgin" rather than "the Son of man" as well.
These clues Margaret is talking about are definitely not flukes. They are scattered all over.

This scripture to me is when the heavenly mother was taken from our understanding. When God said put a flaming sword to guard the “tree” of life to me was code for this vrs
Isaiah 50:1 Thus saith the Lord, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
See the link to the garden in the last vrs. For your “transgressions” was your “mother” put away.
God is saying he didn’t divorce heavenly mother… but he is protecting her from the transgression that caused the fall. The tree of life was “put away” or made so that no man can truly come and partake of the heavenly mother till all is finished.
    Thoughts???

Hmmmmmm...........in this theme of Isaiah chastizing the Israelites from leaving God,and putting away the Heavenly mother, this apadently happened due to the Deuteronomists. As Margaret stated they were left lacking this knowledge because of their apostacy. We belive in the exaltation as families. This information is restored, but no adoration in a formal way. Perhaps it is to easy to pervert the information into improper worship. Mortal existence mirrors the eternal. As she is evsr with the father, she knows hears and participares in blessing us as our earthly parents do. One way to look at it.

Heaven was betrayed by Josiah and the Deuteronomists. Every judeo-christian tradition since has felt her loss.
Unfortunately, the various Mormon traditions partake in that loss because they do not fully embrace her.

Around the 30-minute mark, there is a discussion about text changes and "the virgin" having big eyes to give one sight. My study of Leah, the first wife of Jacob, is described as weak-eyed. In the Jewish tradition, when intently studying, one closes the left eye or the weak eye. From the Egyptian gods, Hathor restores the left eye or the eye of Horus, which Set had gouged out. This eye is for discerning good and evil. Leah's name means cow, and Hathor is one of several bovine goddesses in the Egyptian pantheon. The imagery of Hathor emphasizes the feeding of her children with her udders. Hathor is associated with determining Pharoah; Leah gives birth to Judah, from whom the scepter shall not depart. Perhaps not the same, but very similar.

Dave read Exodus 6:3 that says Abraham did NOT know the name Jehovah. {YHWH in Hebrew). But in Gen 22:14 Abraham calls the name of a place Jehovah-jireh (Jehovah will provide). Why would Abraham call a place Jehovahjireh if he had never heard of the name Jehovah? This supports the JST translation of Exodus 6:3 and Abraham 1:16. All non-JST bible translations of Exodus 6:3 say that Abraham did NOT know the name of Jehovah. And the JST translation and the book of Abraham are criticized for saying Abraham did know the name Jehovah.

I am checking on her use of it and always find her excellent in interpreting and translating it. So far as I can tell, she is well received in her own community. I think the fact that she is so competent with the biblical materials and comes up with such astonishing insights is what causes some of the others to diss her. I think they are just wrong. My mind is reeling from this discussion!
Just a few things that I wanted to muse over in the comments:
    1. The symbolism of Jerusalem is very interesting given that
    2. There exists a "great whore" of Babylon and Babylon is spiritual wickedness
    3. I translate Zarahemla as "Scattered like unto her, or Sown like unto her, or Produce seed like unto her", which became the Nephite capital. The symbolism of that name and it's meaning(s) doesn't escape me given it's history as a city and land.
    4. The Lamanites also had a city they called Jerusalem. The name means something like, "They will see peace, [completeness, or wholeness]"
    5. Bountiful in Hebrew can be "Showa'" or "Shava'" - "Showa" (masculine) can mean bountiful in a masculine context and might mean "noble" or even "war cry", but "Shava" (feminine version) can mean " a noble, i.e. Liberal, opulent; also (as noun in the derived sense) a halloo -- bountiful, crying, rich."

22:50 Deborah thought of as Heavenly Mother, a symbol… wow!
Role as a Judge: Deborah held court under the “Palm of Deborah” and provided guidance and judgment to the Israelites1.
Prophetess: She was known for hearing God’s voice and sharing His messages with the people2.
Military Leader: Deborah played a crucial role in leading Israel to victory against the Canaanite army led by Sisera. She worked alongside Barak, the military commander3.
Song of Deborah: After the victory, Deborah and Barak sang a song of praise, which is recorded in Judges 5. This song is one of the oldest passages in the Bible2.

I love the teaching that we have a mother in heaven. I feel strongly that this is true, and it makes absolute sense in the Great Plan of our Happiness as I have been allowed to get to know it so far.
One thought though: There seem to be many reasons why I do not believe the Holy Ghost to be our Heavenly Mother. Let me share one simple reason for it, supporting many other already well-discussed thoughts: Would the Holy Ghost really be our Heavenly Mother, the Holy Ghost would come right after the Father in the Godhead, not after the Son. Heavenly Mother surely is always right next to Heavenly Father, especially, and also in this most important divine structure, the Godhead.

I definitely think there are shards of references to Heavenly Mother in texts. I, however, do not think we should rush to get on the Heavenly Mother bandwagon, when we could be confusing Inanna worship, or Athena worship, or Ishtar worship, or Asher worship with Heavenly Mother principles. I do realize we are so eager to have more on the scene regarding H. Mother, that we rush to tie things to her that are not.
I would challenge stick of Joseph staff/volunteers to put more of the Ishtar stuff out there for us to see. Whenever I personally encounter “the divine feminine “ concept, it turns into something else so contrary to early restoration.
Let me give one example. There was a podcast about the third member of the Godhead and the divine feminine in 2022. Then talked about early pioneer Relief Society, and then how the R.S. was dismantled and then cast a few subtle dispersions on Brigham Young. Then in a different podcast but same voice/group a heavily critical piece about B. Young that pointed to another video, which implied or more that BYoung was responsible for Joseph Smith’s martyrdom or murder.
If this was the only bunny trail that started with the divine feminine and ended with unsubstantiated accusations.
I also would like to point that the divine feminine can often be used to turn others to the precepts of Ishtar, or the “Lady,” who the Nazis have accounts of and were influenced by this apparition of the “divine feminine.” She is without a body, (different than Heavenly Mother) and many different accounts of how this “lady” has appeared to different groups.
Aseneth is the wife of Joseph. Was a real human with a body and not an apparition. She underwent a mighty change of heart and attitude so that she could shed the wicked traditions of her culture and be worthy to be with Joseph and participate in the promises of Joseph fathers/mothers.
Be careful in a longing to connect with Heavenly Mother, not to be confused by the “Queen of Heaven “ the counterfeit. There is much to read and explore on the counterfeit “Lady.”
Am I a modern-day Deutaronomist? I think if you make the connections that I have seen, you would say no. Were the Deutaronomists getting rid of Heavenly Mother-maybe. Were they getting rid of Inanna/Ishtar maybe. Do a little bit more research on the Knights of the Teutonic Order. Do a little research on Ishtar and her worship. Do a little more research on “the Lady.”
Do not confuse Heavenly Mother with something she is not.

Good points. The worship of fertility goddesses was probably the most popular worship of the ancient world. Some of these temples even included sexual intercourse with temple maidens as neccessary for the maidens before they could marry, so essentially every girl was required to have premarital sex with either a priest or a congregant. The references to Wisdom also describe Athena, not to mention the virgin oracles such as at Delphi. While there may be some truth in these traditions, it is quite likely a lot of it is corrupted beyond recognition.

My jaw just about hit the floor because it reminded me so much of what the amazing Bryce Dunford said in his video about the navel. He hypothesized that we are still connected in a spiritual way to our heavenly mother, like a baby is connected to its mother by the umbilical cord. It's fascinating to think about! I felt bad for her when I read it. Her second one is only about a paragraph long too! I think that she was worried about getting married and having children because the 2nd one promised that she would be a mother in zion. And indeed, she ended up having 7 children. 🙂
Some of my great great uncles had short ones but they were sure wonderful. They said that these men were among the finest who ever walked the earth. You'd think they were the prophets of the church the way it talks about them! 😇
My mom's patriarchal blessing was the most detailed one that I've ever seen. It was 4 or 5 pages. It was amazing! I sort of expected to get a similar one when I went to receive mine and consequently, I was really bummed about mine for a long time. It's wonderful, but it's not so specific like my mom's.
My dad never really wanted to receive his. He was a pretty old man when my baby sister twisted his arm into getting it. Lol. His was short. It told him his tribe and then warned him in clear language about Satan trying to attack his family. At the time, it was a little puzzling, but in the years that followed, boy! It turned out to be SO prophetic!

Think of the blessings promised for obedience to the word of Wisdom in D&C 89: health in the navel, marrow to the bones, run and not be weary, walk and not faint. Those are all therapeutic. Wisdom and treasures of knowledge are associated with Shaddai.
The final blessing, "the destroying angel shall pass by them", gets interesting when you consider that the mistranslation of H7706 Shaddai follows a path through H7703 shadad, which can mean destroy. Maybe it isn't a mistranslation, but just more word play. "Mother Nature" does have a reputation for destruction.

To add to David Butler's exposition starting at 48:29, Matt Bowen in the Interpreter (Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture, 2015(13) starting on p. 27), makes a connection between the names for Mary and Mormon. He states that they "most plausibly derive from the Egyptian word mr(i), 'love, desire, [or] wish.' Mary denotes 'beloved [i.e., of deity]' and is thus conceptually connected with divine love, while Mormon evidently denotes 'desire/love is enduring.' The text of the Book of Mormon manifests authorial awareness of the meanings of both names, playing on them in multiple instances." So, Alma/Almah goes to waters and forests of Mormon/Mary with the beasts of Shaddai (Isa. 56:9) and because of the desires (Mormon/Mary) of the people, he baptizes them in the name of Almighty/Shaddai, with a commandment to love (Mormon/Mary) one another (see: Mosiah 18:21) and to impart of their substance of their own good desire (Mormon/Mary - vs. 28) Barker, in her writings, points out that Mary is the earthly counterpart of the Great Lady - so Mormon seems to have included more wordplay into this account than just the Alma wordplay.

BUT if you accept that the modern king and priests at Lehi's time were throwing out the Mother God in real time, shouldn't Lehi and Nephi already have known?? It's so confusing.

Just a thought, the tree of knowledge of good and evil is a purely masculine notion. And the tree of life is feminine.
    Both are needed together.

And isn’t it interesting that to “partake” of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (or mortality, basically), we all need to come through a woman (birth). To return to the Tree of Life, we need to “pass through” a man (Christ, via baptism and confirmation, performed by a worthy, ordained man with authorization from the key holding man, who is pretty much always married).

Yeah they kinda lost me on that part, or I'm just not smart enough to get it 😕 it makes it sound like all us who have come into mortality were the ones that failed and followed Satan. 😵 Confusing!

From the time I was in my late teens (long before these wonderful RUclips videos), I had known that the Hebrew name Elohim was plural. I concluded then that that Title must refer to both the Father and Mother. The principles of the gospel are eternal and if we are to be married (eternally just as Adam and Eve were wed by God) in order to gain our exaltation (D&C 132), then it would stand to reason that our Father follows those same principles and is Himself, eternally married to an exalted Woman. I still have a difficult time understanding why this isn’t just logical.

The part about Jesus visiting Mary after His resurrection and her not recognizing Him: this sounds more like Mary Magdalene. This would tie to The Gospel of the Beloved Companion, in which Mary Magdelene writes her own gospel, identifies herself as the beloved companion laying on the breast of the Lord instead of John, and was given a blessing/vision from Christ of herself ascending a magnificent tree branch by branch, virtue by virtue to heaven. This message could be the “golden palm leaf” entrusted to her by Christ. If she was the wife of Jesus as some believe, then she could also justly share the literal or figurative name of the goddess or Great Lady. And the golden palm leaf could also mean that in being married to Jesus, she received part in the highest priesthood ordinance of temple marriage sealing, becoming crowned a feminine symbol of that unity. I easily see Mary Magdelene being confused with Mary the virgin mother of Jesus in the course of these ancient legends being passed down. There is beauty in the message that these multiple Mary’s represent that the blessing of divine motherhood falls by Christ’s grace on both the pure handmaidens of the Lord as well the redeemed, purified, and forgiven handmaidens of the Lord, since Mary Magdalene was rescued by Christ. Both journeys are glorified by intimate familial bonds to Him.
