    The spotter was the most challenging part of that dirt road.

  • @technicaldisasters
    @technicaldisasters 2 года назад +76

    I appreciate spotters who volunteer their time to help guide other people through trails. But some are very overzealous for no reason. These are “crawlers.” They go slow. No reason at all to shout commands so fast they can’t register with the driver. “PassengerPassengerPassengerForwardForwardForwardSlowSlowDriverDriver.” I’ve heard pilots lose their engines and call mayday with more composure.

    • @jonathanblanc6826

      I spotted, and I should have had the driver go much slower since it was his first time off roading. And It is hard to spot a new model vehicle when you don't know it's capabilities. The driver was going too fast so I had to switch directions without any proper synchronization to avoid him going off of the trail. Lesson learned on my part too.
      I'm not a spotter expert, but I know my capabilities on choosing the right lines on various terrains when the vehicle is being properly driven.

      @@jonathanblanc6826 you seem to know what you are doing but you I would find someone shouting "passenger, passenger, passenger!" like that extremely annoying and off putting. Once or twice in a more relaxed tone would be more helpful for the driver I would imagine.

Both the wrangler and jeep will take you down any trail you want especially with 37s and lockers. Never drove a bronco but assuming it rides better I would probably pick it over jeep just cause I've had better luck with ford. My last jeep started having trouble at 40,000 miles and was worn out by 80,000. My f150 is still pretty solid I take it down trails as bad as them with 35s and a level. I'm seeing a lot of excuses here. "well the bronco doesnt have sway bar disconnects" sounds more like "cmon hes just a little guy take it easy on him". People are also forgetting you can disconnect the sway bar links in *ANY* wrangler trim. All you need is a couple 18mm wrenches and boom, your $28k wrangler sport is suddenly wheeling circles around your $60k badlands sasquatch with a $20k dealer markup.

    by observation, the bronco driver seems new vs the skilled jeep driver. and as its been pointed out, seems like the diffs were not locked on the bronco. although yes the jeep definetly performed better, still think that the bronco has made improvements being its been on a very long hiatus. jeep has held on to this segment for some time. i mean lets compare second/third gen jeep to this. when it comes down to it, jeep is only good off road, in every orther category, jeep fails to hit the mark.

IFS in the desert? At 100 mph? Sure. But not slow crawling. They can’t compete. Stability is key. And their “flex” is nonexistent. What a waste. A complete slap in the face to the original. I expected much more from ford on this one. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      As a group, one of us usually spots new drivers just to be extra careful. All of us drivers were scratching our heads at how both Bronco's on the trails (both driven by new, very enthusiastic off- roaders) just didn't flex....So where one would have expected the Bronco to move through a chosen line, it didn't do it nearly in the way that we thought. No negative thoughts towards the Bronco, but we learned that it's set up very differently than the Jeep for off-road performance. And having test drove one, the ISF makes it a great on road highway and overland rig. Cheers
