I worked in country music industry for 30 years. John anderson is one of the very best pure country music players and of course singer that there is.

I agree. JOhn Anderson is as good a country singer as there has ever been. Great voice, the infliction is so moving and powerful, he really pours heart and soul into a song.

Wow ! ! What else can ya say about that harmony Merle put in his music. Simply beautiful.. Good thing George Strait has his band use similar harmonies in his songs. Keepin' true Country & Western music alive. Long live Merle & Bonnie ! !

And if you can tear yourself away from Anderson's vocal you can savor the work of the sidemen.

John's vocal style must be brutally hard to harmonize to. He swells into so many of his notes!
Wouldn't change a thing though, he is a true original.

Surprised that nobody mentioned so far the influence of the greatest country singer of all time that is so obvious in the stlyes of both Merle Haggard and John Anderson. I refer of course to the ledgendary Lefty Frizzell

Yes, like Conway as far changing the notes mid-stream. Devilishly hard to sing bass harmony, which is what I do.

MERLE HAGGARD IS JOHNNY ANDERSON'S ILLITERATE SON - NOTICE HOW THE RESIMPLE ONE ANOTHERIN. THEY EVEN SOUND ALIKE, PLAY WITH THE SAME BAND, THEY BOTH PLAY GIBSON STELICASTER BANJOS, THEY BOTH WEAR HATS, AND MERLE CALLS JOHN, "DADDY". WHAT MORE PROVE DOES A PUDDIN' NEED. STAY TUNED FOR MORE COUNTRY MUSIC FACTS FROM JUMPING JEHO!

John Anderson does a good job on this, but to say it's the "best version ever" is a slap in Merle Haggard's face. And John Anderson would be the first person to agree with that assessment. If you're not going to give credit to the folks who paved the way, then don't go down that road.
