My brother-in-law was a Highway Patrolman, first out of Dallas and later out of McAllen Texas. He died 10 years ago. I don’t know if he ever heard this song, but he would have loved it. Y’all stay safe out there.
Love this. What I love most about the old country guitar/pedal pickers is that their playing speaks for itself and you can't hide sloppy playing with a bunch of effects.
Yep. Heard him once or twice. First time seeing this. Very cool guitar. Odd though. I would think it would be tough to play at that angle , but he's killin' it. Monster chops.
I had never heard of this guy until one of my instructors played the song at the beginning of his lecture in RADAR/LIDAR class....and I’m a country music fan.
Us metal heads have a predisposition to like this kind of music because there's a lot of similarities & it's basically a stripped down variation of Metal (or very prototype of you will). By the way, fuck NHP (Nevada Highway Patrol).
I grew up listening to country, Ernest Tubbs, Chet Atkins, George Jones, Hank, Willy and Waylon, but why did it take me so long to hear about Jr. Brown? I can't believe the way he plays that guitar! A friend who plays told me to look him up on my pc, I couldn't stop smiling and tapping my foot. Where have you been Jr.? I can listen to you doing "Highway Patrol" and my whole day gets better. You are awesome and now you're on my bucket list to see in concert. I can't quit smiling when I hear you play!
Junior Brown is so talented. Love this song, and Broke Down South of Dallas. I’m a long time guitarist just now learning lap steel guitar, and it’s not as easy as Junior makes it look, Remarkable man, gotta see him live..,please come out to LA!!
Fantastic! This is one of the 3 songs we play in the car on our way to racing when we enter the Bonneville Salt Flats or El Mirage! YEEEEEE HHAAAAWWWW!!!!
NC trooper was the best officer I was on the wrong side of, thank you to that trooper that found the black Z28 in a Kmart parking lot and came in to get me. You could have done me bad but treated me well. Rem saying "I don't know how fast you were doing but you got it down to 110 before I could lock you in"
Thirty years later, Junior Brown is still kicking out the jams! And still married to the lovely Tanya Rae Brown (she’s the honeybabe playing acoustic rhythm guitar).

It's their national anthem. I heard of a lady who had Junior's CD in her car. She insisted on playing the song (which the patrolman had heard before) while he was talking to her about her speeding. He was so impressed he let her go.
Great song and video! My wife and I have seen him in concert several different times over the years. We got to meet him in Nashville, we were able to get an autograph and a picture with him! 👍
U know I always say if your gonna shit on someone’s playing… u should of at least have a vid to show u can do better. I didn’t see yours ?? U could just upload one with your phone. Let’s see it bro
I'd been a fan for a few years while I was in the Navy, stationed in San Diego, when I moved back to Okla. City I reconnected with my older brother, who it turns out, knows Junior really well from his time in the live music scene in Oklahoma City & Tulsa. Junior comes by his talent genetically, both his parents are/were music teachers at Rogers State University, Claremore, OK. He began playing when he was 3-4 years old, created the Guit-Steel that he plays. Spent time with Gary P. Nunn (London Homesick Blues/Austin City Limits theme song) as one of the Bunkhouse Boys. Been told that he's a funny sob, along with talented as a mofo. I hope to get a chance to meet him one day.
I saw him live in 2005 or so. He had this strange almost trance like mode he goes into when he does the guitar chorus. His eyes appeared to roll back in his head. I did enjoy the show. though. Hope he is doing great.
Not only did I see this vid on CMT (back in the day), but I was in Bowlin Green KY, fixin' to head into to Nashville with Mrs. Finding this video just took me back 20+ years....thank you!
@@JeffBourke How is that weird? It's true. Very talented musicians, and she is beautiful. It's not necessarily a bad thing to mention that. If the focus of the comment was all on her looks and not recognizing the talent, then yeah.
I first heard this song in the movie 'Me, Myself and Irene'. It always bugs me when music of the movie isn't on the soundtrack so back then I wrote it down from the credits watching the vhs. Now I often come back to it and watch several recordings.
Great guitar play...never and still does not get the recognition he deserves.
He's got to be the most underrated guitarist alive.
Junior Brown is the man! I used to crank this song up in my patrol car 🚔 at night. 🤫😂🤣
Slick that hair back, Barn. 😎
Lol

Me too, HP was a great way to meet people ;)
May have done it myself a few slow overnights..

I met him (briefly) back in the 90s. He s one nice fella & one of the best guitarists ever.
Most underrated musician around, and he makes most of his guitars 👌🙂
Yes they need to update the ratings scale to include him.
Great talent, loved the video where the old girl friend broke out of jail and came for him.

Everything is over the top, from the guit-steel to the shape of his hat, what a great entertainer
The most under rated guitarist and writer of the music industry
Dang he is GOOOD! I wish he could get some time on TV. He puts so many other “singers” to shame.
If you’re listening to this song and your feet aren’t moving, go to the doctor immediately.
@Don L
The Undertaker would be a better choice.
Someone's feet could actually be broken and they need to see a doctor
Junior brown you are the best love 💘 your music
I needed to here that Don L . I was moving in grooving in my head tho lol.
Indeed
Junior is definitely one of the best musicians ever and i love Tanya's cute smile too.
He tickles the shit out of me. Yes he is like a really good musician
BTW damn I'm.flipping impressed. He makes it look so easy. Its far from it. I know I try at it dailu
If he had came along in the 60's he would have been a mega star !
Absolutely agree and he should be a bigger star now.

It's not what Junior does, it's what he doesn't do. Magical.
Singin, pluckin & slidin', its hard enough doing one of them well but Junior pulls off all three at once. Guys a freakin legend!
