- The Winchester & Western is a shortline railroad that runs from the northernmost region of Virginia through West Virginia and into Maryland. The railroad also operates some shortlines in New Jersey. In this video, we will follow W&W GP9 number 459 as it goes about some typical tasks on the Virginia Division of the W&W. We start with a "Sandman" run from Gore to Winchester, followed by a run up to Hagerstown, Maryland. I will also give a brief overview of the work I did to customize the model. 459 is a Walthers Mainline GP9 that I decaled myself. I Was Around The Prototype Some, But Did Not Pay A Whole Lot Of Attention To It, I Was On A Rail Gang Working On NS,
I Noticed Some Older Alcos Back In The 90s. Some Old Engines That Were Former N&W. Now Retired, I Missed The Sandman Last Runs But Followed It On RUclips, Lots Of Action Close By Its 250 Mi Plus One Way To Get There.
Missed opportunity to title it "Enter Sandman" (my favorite Metallica song)
I love the Walthers Mainline GP9s; I know I love mine. They are perfect for just about everything, especially for yard switching, which is mainly what I use mine for.
Nice model and nice sounds.. exact same soundset as a chessie gp9 high hood and a B&M (now having been guilford pan am and csx techincally now) model of 310, which my model is before it got rebuilt with a central radiator air intake and fan.. which has a similar horn sound
Old geeps with an RS3L or S3L and steel bell make nice units for leading local trains, the walthers mainline models are some nice units
