- The Northern Virginia Model Railroad is a layout based on the Western North Carolina railroad housed in the old Washington & Old Dominion Railroad station in Vienna, Virginia. The station was built in 1854, and the layout is housed in the original part of the building. This layout was built to replicate the late 1950's between Salisbury, NC and Asheville, NC on the WNC Railroad. This layout was built in the late 1970s, and the club is celebrating 75 years of history together across three different layouts. To find out more information about the club, please visit our website at www.nvmr.org.
I'm in northern VA and never knew about this. Outstanding! 💯💯🫵👍✌️
This is the first and only layout I have ever seen a work area under neath it ! Absolutely Genius .
I want to go play trains there so bad. Beautiful. Looks like so much fun…..
Wonderful video. Masterful layout. Thank you.
I really like that the operators and club members go down inside the layout. I can see may different ideas and methods were used In building this layout.
Man, that’s a whopper of a railroad! Nicely done, lots of operation. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool! I live in Asheville i use to listen to the coal trains at night coming from Marshal North Carolina
. I use to meet at Old fort fire department to play bluegrass and hearing the trains pass by and if we were on stage the band would break into a good old train song.
Great video! Unbelievable layout....stacked and packed with detail.
Thanks for the excellent tour of a beautiful layout. A person could get a good workout running trains. I love the Southern Railway so it was exciting to see all those Southern engines at the loco facility.
Very nice layout, you definitely get a good Cardio workout climbing up and down those stairs following your train!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for the tour!!!
Wow!!
What an awesome setup.
Great idea to have the layout above the work area.
It must be easier to access the wiring etc.
Thanks for the tour.
Happy Modelling.
Wow, that's just beautiful! The whole thing is very impressive, bottom to top. I love the weathering, that's always big for me. All that organization and professionalism throughout out the workshop is a joy to see. Really great work by all of you involved!

Thanks for the tour. the NVMR have packed a lot of railroad into what appears to be a modest space. Very clever and well done. I will visit your website.

That's a cool layout. Very nice
Really nice layout! Would have been great to see a train moving as you were talking. Take Care!
I got a little seasick with this ever moving camera ! Nevertheless I really admire this gorgeous and beautiful layout. Nice scenery, great electronics, both running and switching possibilities.
Those workspaces underneath look handy. The construction must have cost a lot of work and thinking !
Cool video and channel just subscribed. Can't wait to see more
Great detail
Live in Arlington.Coming to the next open house!

I work in Chantilly and live out west of Manassas. I'll have to get over one of these day to see the layout.

Definitely got some that like electronics at this club! I might have missed but how much is the climb from the lowest track to the highest?
There is a difference of almost 4' between Spencer Yard at the main level and Ridgecrest at the top
Very cool! Do you know if there is a Northern Virginia club for O Gaugers? Thanks!
I am not aware of one for O Gauge I’m sorry
Spectacular layout! I live in Michigan and frequently visit my daughter and her family in Alexandria. Do you have a schedule of open houses at your club? Would like to schedule a visit.

@@WadsWeathers awesome 👏
The layout is very nice, but the way of taking the images, makes you feel seasick, sudden movements to the right and left, it is impossible to appreciate at normal speed, you have to watch it in slow motion.
You're not really cut out for video shooting, sorry
Sorry you don't like the format of the video. Unfortunately this was shot using a gimble, which controls all movement of the camera. It shoots more consistently and moves around more than by hand. Feel free to not watch any videos going forward.
