What a beautiful sight to behold last Baldwin rides again historically noted that she was the last steam locomotive built by the Baldwin locomotive Works in the early 1950s
This scene reminds me of Saluda Grade in Saluda, SC. Like if NS Sold the line to a tourist railroad like IMO they should've done instead of mothballing it.
The cost to repair the Saluda Grade did not make it a viable option for a tourist operation. I have walked the grade several times. Besides the numerous large washouts, the rail and ties would need replaced. I'm certain the rail and tie replacement factored heavily in the decision to railbank the route. The possibility of it becoming a rail trail is really the only hope of preserving it for future generations.
Glad it’s still wearing that Southern PS-4 3 Chime. That’s my favorite whistle on her.
The Southern whistle may not be on her for long. The chief mechanical officer told me he hadn't had time to change it back to the hooter.
I’m not really a fan of the ps whistle
I would like to hear a Western Maryland whistle on her!
The "Hooter" will be back on her soon if it isn't already. They've been busy and changing the whistle back wasn't a high priority.
Finally she's back in action
Nice catch
Thank you very much!

Sure is great to see her back. But it looks like that steam leak in her cylinder is still leaking.
There is steam leak. The chief mechanical officer told me they were going to see if they could fix it Friday morning.
@@steamfan let's hope so as I feel like it's gotten worse.
