You guys on the east coast are fortunate to have 611 and the class 1 railroads still allows her to go on the mainline we don’t get that here on the east coast Union Pacific is overly struck about it it hasn’t happend in almost a decade now.
@legotech7268 Not outright anymore. Recent ferry moves have a diesel escort on head end. It's a liability and cost no one understandably wants to deal with.
@@SCL3618 that is definitely understandable to want to have a diesel and have one on the train to escort the locomotive so it has dynamic brakes and extra support but that still allows for steam to be on the mainline but that luxury isn't available in the west coast mostly just due to union pacific. BNSF is chill we saw that with 3751.
@@SCL3618I thought and was told the reason is 611 doesn't have PTC. If UP can do it with the big boy and challenger, 611 could be retrofitted with it. I can understand liability and insurance being an issue, considering 611's history.

We managed 5 shots on Sunday am run, this of course will vary with traffic and crowds. I suggest getting them reversing in Goshen, then heading further down to where you want to see it at speed, as to not get caught immediately in chase line.

This one is a bit of an exception- corridor is owned by state of VA, so they're able to play ball instead of a regular CSX/NS main.
