    1. You admitted at least twice that Mustache man was a socialist who primarily wanted to build a socialist system based on racial identity to socialize people or "volk".
    2. Marx was deeply antisemtic and racist. He spoke about it frequently especially in "The Jewish Question".
    3. One can be a socialist without being a Marxist or a Fascist.

    The opposite of communism and socialism isn't fascism or Nazism, as most people seem to assume. All those ideologies in practice were related as they were collectivist where the state was everything, so they were fundamentally leftist. The opposite of all of them are limited government and individualism, or right wing American conservatism.

    • @Explaininghistory
      @Explaininghistory  7 лет назад +5

      +Oppressed White Guy possibly this is true, but Hitler didn't see it quite like that. He saw statism as useful as long as it furthered racial goals, the moment the state was no longer any use in these terms he was capable of creating parallel non state institutions (most of the infrastructure of Nazism, camps, SS etc were party as opposed to state institutions). You are right in assuming that he viewed the individual as irrelevant, but his collectivism was based around notions of race, building the Vokksgemeinschaft or 'People's Community'. His imprisonment of democratic socialists and communists in 1933 was down to his fear of their electoral popularity but also because they were a challenge to his planned racial transformation of Germany to prepare it for another war.

      I'm not gonna pretend to know a ton about Hitler's personal ideological beliefs, but I think he was much more of a nationalist than a white supremist. I mean he did believe Germans were the master race, which is racism, but I dont think he thought that white people in general were. Needless to say he went on a white people killing spree, aka WW2, to fulfill his vision of a supremely powerful, independent Germany. Anyway, at least to me, on the outside, it seems Nazism has a lot more in common with leftism in general than with what is considered right wing today, which is conservatism. If you have more videos regarding this subject, I'll check them out when I get off work. Cheers.

    Hitlers policies definitely had socialist elements. He effectively nationalised the means of production. Which is typically a socialist thing to do. And with regards to his policies for 'real Germans', that was definitely quite egalitarian stuff. He combined socialist elements with the toxic idea of social Darwinism, in which the weakest in society should be destroyed in order to become egalitarian, or Ubermenschen. You could say that the Nazi's made use of identity politics based on a victim mentality, just as the left usually does. The Nazi's set up the German welfare state, introduced child benefits, protections for workers, they constructed big projects which kept many people in jobs,
    Nazism was clearly an attempt to get rid of the class society that existed before, just as socialists aimed to do. The difference was the race theories and social darwinism that socialism does not have (although, in the UK many socialists propagated eugenics, which shows that race theories, or superiority theories are not mutually exclusive from the concept of socialism, but alas). The Nazi's were in favor of a state that interfered quite deeply into the personal lives of their citizens, something socialism also favours. The Nazi's had a system of price control, and whilst there technically was free enterprise, all free enterprise had to follow the diktats by the Reichswirtschaftsministerium, the State Department of Economics. Hitler also stresses the importance of trade unions in Mein Kampf, which sounds pretty socialist to me. Hitler also copied many aspects of the Marxist rule from the Soviet Union. A one party system for instance. And when attacking the Soviet Union, Hitler mentioned in his private sphere that they will bring the 'real socialism' to Russia. Many opponents of Hitler were actually on the right, they complained that Nazism was Communism in disguise. Members of the communists are known to have joined Hitler after their party was forbidden by him. Nazism did compare themselves with Russia in the beginning, the German professional classes preferred ‘Brown Bolshevism’ to the Red version, adding ‘There have been no massacres and everything takes place in a progressive well-organised manner’. Hitler had also very good ties with Soviet Russia, the Molotov von Ribbentrop Pact, and after Poland was conquered, the red army and the nazi's had victory parades together (e..g in Brest Litovsk), German warships were allowed to use Russian naval bases and the Germans shared aircraft designs with the Russians. This friendliness of course ended when Hitler got the idea of invading Russia (this mistake ultimately saved Europe).
    So what you can conclude is that the lack of respect for property rights (socialism), all kinds of social policies (welfare state, child benefits, price controls, effective state control over the means of production) combined with racist views (nazism) has led to the toxic brand of Nazism. Both Nazism and Socialism are utopian in their very nature. So if you want to suggest that Hitler was not someone with a lot of socialist elements in his ideology, I would suggest that you go back to history classes or read some books.
    P.s. Nazi's in that time were actually described as beef's. Brown from the outside, but red from the inside. Hitler also applied for the SDP, the social democratic party. They refused him.
    P.s. If people argue that socialism is bad because Hitler was a socialist, they violated Godwin's law.

    By defintion he was a socialist, a National Socialist at that. You cannot be an advocate for centralized planning and strong government controls without being a socialist. That's what made Hitler a socialist. He may have been to the right from the Bolsheviks, but he was still a socialist leftist as he believed in strong central government control. Hitler outright declared himself a socialist in Mein Kampf, just not the Marxist international or full Soviet type. I hate when people say socialism includes egalitarianism (or some equivalent). This is simply an excuse to say, "That's not socialism" every time we point out socialism failing.
    If you're going to play that game, then "Capitalism is a system that promotes a free market, one that is free from corruption." Any corruption you find means, by definition, it's not capitalism!
    Hitler was a socialist. Deal with it.
    That doesn't mean all forms of socialism are bad. Any economic system can fail depending on numerous factors.

      Same could be said for American capitalism. We have become an imperialistic machine for capitalism. Even throwing our citizens under the train. Creating wars, for corporations. Subjecting other countries to living in squalor so we may buy our goods from them cheaper. If you think we don't, look around you. Also read War is a Racket by Smedley Butler. Socialism is defined as the state ownership or control of the means of production and the Nazis had officers at virtually every corporation telling them how much should we do some way to produce it. This is very similar to Chinese Socialism currently.
