back in seoul 📮 my daily routine, hiking, social media anxiety, sweet cafes | my life in korea vlog
sorry this was so choppy - i re-edited this so many times and cut so much out but i hope the feelings im trying to portray come through. im working on setting some boundaries in terms of what i share here and i thank you guys for having always respected that 💗 sending love!
The mobile (planet system) in the background gives the jump cuts away as it's moving. Might not use it as your background 😉 in the future
I didn't mind at all! didn't even notice it. and the feelings you were trying to portray definitely came through!
btw, I was feeling very anxious today and your video calmed me down so much, so thank you :)
no worries, cari! it doesn't feel choppy to me :)
작년과 올해의 계절에 대한 표현 아주 좋았어요.
Social media has forced most of us to feel obligated to the masses. You have no obligations to any of us and it would be incredibly rude of any of us to think so. Any type of trauma(shared or personal) deserves to be processed in whatever way is best for the individual. It's so easy to fall into the trap of feeling like you have to talk about something, but you don't have to. Stuff is hard sometimes and if it doesn't make you feel better to talk about it, you shouldn't have to. You know? Please don't stress too much about it Y-Y
In regards to becoming a regular at a cafe, I can say the joy goes both ways! I opened a little cafe on the island I live and I get equally as happy to see “regulars” come in ❤
i love watching chill vlogs like this one. i enjoy them as much as other ones where you go somewhere. i love them especially because they portray life in a realistic way. sometimes when i watch people online i feel like they have a much better life than me because they post only videos in which they do extraordinary things like trips, parties etc… it’s refreshing to see what day to day life is and ways to make every day special just by eating something yummy or going for a walk in nature.
thats so true! i just sometimes feel a little silly recording my life, especially when this is my main job right now - i know i work hard at editing but i still feel a little ashamed that i have so much freedom when my friends are working grueling work hours, you know? but thank you :''')
@@caricakes you don’t have to be ashamed 🧚🏻♂️ you create art for us ✨ your videos are my medicine when I am down 🌬you are my virtual fairy💻🍂 and thank for that 🥲
It's ok. My deepest sympathies to all those in Seoul. It's hard to move on after such a tremendous loss. Take your time & enjoy your life with Kurt. We'll be here any time you need to chat.💗
🤍
I think you’re very wise to recognize the need to process longer and also to respect your own boundaries. These are both things I’m learning at a ripe(ish) age. I’m so glad you were able to have such a lovely visit with your family and congratulations to Kurt on his new office and all!
thank you!
This format is fine also. I love getting up on Sundays, having my breakfast and watching your vlog. Sometimes I pause during a street scene just to look at the signs, the people, the shops. It's that familiar feeling of the mundane everyday, but also the fascination of a different life somewhere else. I like seeing your thought processes over the course of the vlog, how you may start out sad and then end up, maybe not happy, but with more resolve. Even small things like that can be inspiring.
Lately life has been really difficult for many people for a lot of reasons. I've found myself having to hold on to and look to the positive things in my life, your vlogs being one of them. I also really felt it when you said "if you feel you have to perform for people, those aren't the people you want to be around." and it's so true! You shouldn't have to feel like you are performing for the people around you, because it means masking who you really are. Thank you for giving me something I can look forward to each week, and thank you for giving me the reminders I need when i need them most:)
also, side note, but it makes me so happy to see more of Kurt in this vlog! Just glad to know he's doing well:) Hope he's enjoying his new job! That's so incredibly exciting!
I'm typing this after realizing I was just contently watching this video, specifically the clips of leaves and trees, and smiling to myself, and hadn't noticed that my shoulders dropped or how content and calm this makes me feel. Just wanted you to know how calming your videos are and how therapeutic it is to watch your videos. It feels like such a safe space.
I completely feel you with your thoughts reacting in public or social media . I do not perform my feelings or grief for people’s Satisfaction. It is for work through not them. Take care. Sending you love from SoCal.❤
❤❤❤
I've just moved to Dongtan in Korea to teach English and now have a lot to get used to. I love watching your videos and they have given me lots of places to visit.
so happy to see mary oliver in your vlogs, she's my all time favorite poet !! ^^
Thank you for the honesty and for not papering over the personal challenges and bumps you are processing. So many folks leave those feeling tucked away from sight. It takes courage to share truths and to acknowledge the need for boundaries with the world around you.
More walks outside enjoying the season is great medicine (hopefully with less aggressive mosquitoes!)
Be well.
🙏🙏🙏
My deepest condolences to all the people that was affected in Itaewon. I felt so sad I couldn't bare the lost for the parents who lost their children. I don't have any kids, but I can't imagine the sorrow. With that said, I wish everyone fast recovery. Cari, I love your channel for the longest time I've known you thru RUclips channel and I'm very glad your back to Korea. Now we can see more fun and interesting contents. I'm preparing myself to move to Korea in a year or two. I've been planning this move for many years and it's finally coming fruition. I'm so excited!
I wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your videos! I’ve been watching them over the last six months since I decided to move to Korea. And I just found out that I’m going to be living in seongnam starting in February :-) your videos of helped me start to feel more acclimated to Korea, and get more excited every single time! Thank you so much.
such a beautiful and thoughtful vlog as always🤎
Wow... “If you have to perform for people you probably shouldnt be around them” that really resonated with me...
thank you for being here, cari! take your time to feel and process what you need to! I hope you're doing well! thank you for being sincere and sharing your days with us even when you're going through hard moments, i really appreciate it!! you've helped me a lot! 💛
I think we have a right to grief and process on our own pace. This is my first time leaving the comment. I appreciate you so much as I watch your vlog weekly as I’m grieving over our beloved son who passed last November. You bring little happiness in my life, so thank you for being you and sharing your life.
I’m glad you’re ok.
your videos feel like a warmth hug on a quiet, rainy day - I always look forward to them when I feel down :)
I feel you on the “understanding that you can do things private” part. 1000%!
We love you Cari, never feel like you have to preform for us. Just enjoy your life and Be Happy and we will tag along in whatever capacity you feel comfortable with. Were all just here for the wholesome Cari Cakes Vibes x
I never skip your ads cari, that's how much I enjoy watching your videos
lol omg no pls feel free to skip hahahah especially in america, youtube was running weird political ads on my videos - deffo skip anything you want hahahah
I am on my very first trip in South Korea (in Busan now - still heavily jet-lagged) and did Seoul Forest and Bukhansan last week ❤ those colours were amazing 😍 I will check the field near Anguk when I get back to Seoul on Thursday as I booked a hotel right there. Thanks for sharing, your vlogs have been a great influence for my trip here 😊😊❤
From the gorgeous colors of the leaves to the calming music to just the jaw dropping sites of Korea everything about this was just the relaxation needed 😊 did anyone else keep saying bless you as if cari could hear me 😅
I loved the old wall! Amazing that you are part of the campaign.
So many yellow trees. Are they all ginkgo? And swooning at the heated benches.
Hi Cari! I'm glad you've had a chance to reassess and see what works for you. Personally, I'm almost exclusively interested in your vlogs because it gives me a chance to see what an ex-pat's day to day life is like in another country. I find them comforting because I think I get really in my head when I move around or travel. I also like the rawness of them, if that makes sense. There's something really lovely about just seeing what a day is like, unpolished. You could go to 10 cafes in one day or show us what it's like to make a cake in your apartment. Those are the moments I like.
Hi cari. Don’t put too much stress on yourself. Take your time. We aren’t going anywhere. Enjoy this time of the year with kurt. Anyway I loved the vlog💜
Hi Cari, I've never commented on your videos but I just wanted to say that I love your daily vlogs and how they portray your thoughts and your life in a way that is not as polished as a themed vlog is. And I get your anxiety with Social Media and I'm pretty sure most of your subscribers do too - so please set your boundaries and make the internet a safe place for you 😊
I really try to take a step back from social media. I use it to keep up with my friends but I don’t repost politics, traumatic events, etc. Although I care about that stuff, I choose to use social media for other purposes that are better for my mental health. Glad to hear you are taking steps to make it work better for you too!!
And there was me thinking Seoul in the summer was beautiful, then you go and post this. Now I'm inspired to return to Korea for autumn next year.
autumn is my favorite!
I just got back yesterday from my first trip to Korea (I was there for a month). Your videos gave me so much inspiration on day trips as a solo traveller, thank you!! Welcome home, enjoy the beautiful trees, I miss Korea already ㅠ. Love from London!!
I could watch hours of footage of autumnal moments and could also watch hours of you sharing how you feel what you’ve been experiencing 💛 it is really important to portray the bad/sad days not only the good ones but if you choose to back up a little that is also fine too:)
That "How can I live without you?" Hahahahaha its so cute 💚💚💚
😅😅😅
We have beauty berry down here in the deep south too :D Used to be one of my fave things to photograph when I took nature pics.
These daily vlogs are always entertaining to watch. They never get boring and it’s such a refreshing feeling to sit down after a long day and watch one of these. They make me feel so relaxed and content. Please don’t overthink them too much, they’re really great!
You did it again. I've been living in Korea for a good part of my life and it is never as beautiful as you capture it here. Thank you for another relaxing vlog of what is my home but never looks so good. And, of course, welcome back. : )
🙏🙏🙏
Hi Cari! Been watching your videos for 2 years now and last month I got a chance to spend 2 weeks in Seoul. Ended up visiting a lot of places recommended by you too! I am in love with the city and now that I'm back from my vacation, I'm still missing Seoul A LOT. I feel like I'm going to be feeling and absorbing your Seoul content very differently from now on.
Lots of love to you!
Hi Cari, I process stress and anxiety the same way! Takes me a while, and I think about it until I'm exhausted thinking about it for sure! Distraction definitely helps! For me, playing piano (love playing that same Chopin piece), coffee, books, walks are a MUST! Love the nod to Adventure Time 🎶, that song breaks me!! Hang in there🤍!
Having my needed break from studying for my licensure exam on Tues with this vid 🥰 Have a great Sunday Cari and Kurt and everyone! ❤️
best of luck to youuuu!
I appreciate your videos and personality so much 😊
this was just what i needed 🥲 thank you for the video 🫶🏻
thanks for being here 💗
Seeing you back in Seoul with Kurt is lovely!🥰. And also enjoyed you discussing about boundaries as that’s super important to do. Love the video as always, myself & my partner Paul, send lots of love!👍🏻💕💕
Thank you for another lovely video. It was very calming and aesthetic. For some reason helped me get rid of my headache, so thank you :). Glad you made it home safe and are taking care of yourself.
Love your comment about, "For those people you have to act its those you don't need in your life"! Freaking true and I needed this reminder just right now
hai cari. just wanna told you that im goin to seoul for a whole month full back then in october and thanks god i had you with all the great beautiful recommendations place you always served in every vlog you made. im goin to all park you used to go. then even had a healthy hiking to achasan mountain. and got a good walk in han river either in morning or evening. all of my routine while havin a month in seoul based on daily you did in your vlog. seoul so beautifully heaven in made. i feel sad when i need to go back after had a great fun time in that town. and not forget to mentioned that im also goin to busan and daegu and as you see the recommendations places that you had for that two cities helped me massively for havin a great time on my trip. you became a person im looking at because we both had a same habit for find a solace safe comfortable feels when it comes to nature and art so thats why all the places you heading by suit my tastes. and then you always put the naver link for each every of them. thats so kind of you. you dont know how i owed you for makin my trip feels so special. will surely bein back to seoul as soon as i could and for the next time i do hope i could met you as a person for givin my thankful sincerely on you. love💜

Thanks for always helping me go through my anxiety issues with your vlogs ❤️🥺
One of my favorite vlogs of yours. You said it was choppy but it didn't feel choppy at all - it was actually soothing and comforting. Just wanted to comment as it's now reached 11,000 views at 11 hours with 1,100 "likes". I love it when numbers align. 😊
Thank you for this vlog! It felt kinda magical because I left Seoul on 4th right when you were hiking and it feels like as if my trip was prolongated!
YAY I was just thinking about your weekly vlog and this popped up just in time! :3
I've been going through your old vlogs and jotting down notes for my trip in Feb/March! hehe so excited~
yesssss!!!
Hi Cari, thank you so much for your videos, they bring me so much comfort and remind me to always look for beauty wherever I go. Your content helps me a lot when it comes to being more mindful. I know it sounds so unoriginal, because you must receive messages like this all the time but I am so grateful that I find this little corner of the Internet. I really love how honest and dedicated you are. Take good care x
I wanted to tell you that your hot girl walks along the Han river inspired me a lot, and I think about you often as I am walking along the Thames to clear my head - a habit that I picked up after watching your videos!
i recently went on my first trip to korea using your videos for guidance and seeing you go to the places i went after years of watching you is so bizarre
Your vlogs are always amazing, no matter what you film or where it takes us, Cari. I truly enjoy every one of them. ❤️❤️
Cari, your videos always put me in a creative mood. Every time I'm done watching, I'm ready to pick up my guitar and sing or sit down and write.
Thanks for creating, and sharing with us ♥️
I really appreciate your videos, cari ❤ just wanted to say that.
Just wanted to say that I'm so grateful die your videos, thoughts, how you show your experiences. No matter if it's more activity-focused or reflecting on things. Sending lots of love, also to everyone reading this.
Social media gives me a lot of anxiety even with my private profiles, so I can only imagine the anxiety that can come with sharing your life publicly. Your life is first and foremost your own, you don't have to share your grief with the people you know, so strangers on the internet are even less entitled. I know that us, your community aren't strangers, but please don't feel obligated into sharing anything, grief or otherwise, that you aren't comfortable with. Your comfort is far more important. ❤
Being a night owl has its pros: I get to see Cari's videos earlyyy
bahaha but also - get some rest!!
@@caricakes I'll try to haha, have a great week Cari
Cari your vlogs are always such a joy ❤
I visited Korea in autumn 2019 and it felt like the most perfect time of year to be there and this makes me want to visit again so badly! 🥹
Yay! Happy that you‘re back. Hope you‘re doing good 💗
hope you're doing okay too!
I am!!💗
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better Cari ♥
I think it definitely matters that you feel good about the content you're creating, so if you want to take a break from these kinds of week in my life videos, that's totally your prerogative. BUT, if it makes you feel better, I love watching these!! I think it's fun to watch someone else do the kinds of activities I also do on a more regular basis. It reminds me to see the beauty in the ordinary/routine!
Hi Carrie! I just want to let you know that your one of superhero during pandemic and now catching my dream 💖🥰😍
I genuinely adore your vlogs. I've been watching your vlogs since the edinburgh or scotland vlogs and i'm still here. it's like i'm just having a conversation with my friend talking about life and everything. I hope you're always joyful and i'm glad that u enjoy the things that ur doing! it amazes me since you can emphasize your thoughts & feelings and like simply say it in the vlog. you'll always be one of my favourite vloggers!
LOVE the cute cafe vibes in this one, Cari!!! 😍💖
thanks always 💗💗💗
I love that you thank your phone!
I Cari,
Thank you for all the time you have dedicated to your vlogs. It has helped soo many of us with cool Info about life in korea. Anyone at any point in their lives need to take stock and regroup ideas, make sense of things and refocus on future goals. Take it at your own pace, no pressure.. I will be glad waiting to whatever content you will bring. As they say " figthing ".... 🥰
Nothing a tangerine can't cure I like that philosophy 👍
I don't think it was that choppy
very nice vlog, so relaxing to watch! really enjoyed this, thank you for putting in the effort to make it so aesthetic and fun to watch 😇
Thank you 🙏
@@caricakes you are very welcome, have a wonderful weekend my friend 😁
These vlogs are perfect…. You know how much of your life you want to share.. just share that…
Ahh I am currently reading Lonely Castle in the Mirror!
appreciate u superrrr much cari🦋
🤍🥲🙏
Great vlog. I will try those Nutella and banana sandwiches tomorrow sound really lovely. I Hope Kurt likes his new office setup looks cool. Those birds were getting angry now I realize what Hitchcock was all about with his film. Take care
Bench seat warmers- that’s the coolest thing. I’ve never heard of that anywhere. That would have been useful growing up in the Northeast or the Midwest. How did the mountain/fortress wall hike compare to how your legs felt after climbing the Duomo stairs in Florence? I totally support you establishing boundaries that are going to facilitate your optimal mental health and overall well being. I just read today that reassessing your boundaries is a form of self care. It can look different in every season of life. And the tragedy in Seoul was so intense that it reverberated throughout the world. Prayerful for those mourning the loss of someone they knew and loved that was lost.
perfect timing! yet another great vlog, i always look forward to them cari
thank you always!!
ahh going to a coffee shop and having the owner recognize you is such a soothing feeling especially if you're in a foreign country, away from home :') ❤
fyi i have always loved your daily vlogs as much as your trips/touristing vlogs - thank you for the work you do!
Cari please start a podcast!! I love your voice it's so relaxing 🤍
Another Sunday, another vlog enjoyed with a yummy breakfast :) I honestly like this kind of vlogs. I think you're really good at capturing small beautiful things that most people miss in their daily lives, even if it is just the different colours of autumn. Your photography is great and your music choice is great, so I enjoyed it a lot :) Please take your time deciding what you want to share with us, the last thing I want is that you to stop vlogging because you feel pressure to overperform. It's important to put limits :)
Oh, the flowers are beautiful ✨😭
Hi Cari, I love your vlogs! I just remember the newly opened Starbucks in Daegu (the one in a traditional Korean-style house) when you mentioned Starbucks in this video. Maybe you can visit if you haven't already 😁 would love to see you exploring cafes hehehe
Such a great background music:
- Everything stays by Olivia Olsen
- Collateral damage by Muse
Good to see you back home. Kurt’s humor gets me every time 😂 Can’t eat mala alone.
Wife/meal sharer is my official title.
More shingles distraction yay! Thanks for your hard work Cari 💚
get well sooooooon!
@@caricakes Getting there 😊
if there are angels in your head will you ever possibly see one.
Hi cari. I am new here.
I watched your vlog in Daejeon,my hometown.
you boggle my mind.
It would be better if the weather was good.
many people say No jam(funny) city haha.
Welcome back to Seoul.
I am always rooting for you.
Take care~!
from Jung in Daejeon.
My dream is to travel somewhere where there is autumn so I could just walk around and have a nice cup of coffee. It must feel nice. :)
Cherishing life's simple pleasures is important when there's trouble. Just do what you do.
🥰🙏
Just realized you're using a 27" monitor on a pretty shallow desk. Even 24" feels too big and bright for me already, perhaps I need to rethink this and just get more light near my desk to help lol
Welcome back to seoul I hope you have fun on your trip
Thank you!
Another great vlog. Great way to wake up and start my day with your videos ❤
Have a lovely day!
kari, your videos are so beautiful. thank you for bringing me some much needed calmness today. you‘re such a gem on my socials for real! I have a question: how do you feel comfortable experiencing nice things alone? I always imagine doing all these things and i catch myself feeling a little sad because i‘d wanna share this with someone, like my boyfriend. Did you need to learn to be ok on your own or is this something you just naturally enjoy? Have an amazing day ❤
i've sort of always enjoyed doing things by myself but there were definitely things i needed to learn to be comfy with like eating by myself (for example). its journey but when you finally start enjoying it, its so nice to be able to have fun and do things yourself^^
@@caricakes thank you for replying! that really motivates me to go out and try to get more comfortable around myself :))
I missed you, Cari! 🤍
thanks for giving us relaxing videos!!🤍
💗💗💗
The bus stop benches are heated? 😮 our car has a heating for the seats at the front which is sooo comfy when it’s cold outside. But I’ve never heard of heated bus stop benches.
aww! i was in that flower field like a week and a half ago! its bringing back memories of my short trip there! love your vlogs~
also i visited thr royal tombs in gyeongju based on the pic from your instagram! it was so pretty!
I couldn't help thinking about the terrorist attacks in France a few years ago because it seems you felt the same as we did afterwards. Like we had been hit by a train. It's confusing and yes the feeling of guilt, because life goes but people are gone and others are mourning. It definitely takes a while to feel better. Glad these beautiful mountains and chatty sparrows help ! Take care
Aww. The leaves 😍🍂 Can't wait 'til I see those with my very own eyes. ✨️ btw, welcome to Korea, Cari. Have a lovely day. Stay safe! 🌻💚
This makes me long to be in a walkable city with great public transportation options. Also the flower field was gorgeous!
yeah we're really lucky here in seoul
