Never have I ever ever had more respect for people who can live in tiny spaces like this. Never ever ever have I ever been so grateful to live in my 600 sqft 2 bedroom apartment in Minnesota, nor have I ever been more grateful to be moving to an apartment twice the size with another bedroom and bathroom. I feel very humbled.
The roadway with all of the flowers looked like it was right out of a kdrama. it was so beautiful. Seoul is such a lovely place when you venture into the hidden little gems of the city. I cant believe how small some of the homes were. The view at some of them was so stunning though!!! what a hard decision.
i love the fact you're not talking but only filming and sharing with subtitles, that's cool. for the apt, I feel that the spaces are quite tiny for the price. i knew Seoul is pricey, but not that much, OMG. if I had to choose, I'll go for the last one :D

I miss my last loft apartment in Korea. I was concerned at first about not being able to stand up either, but all I ever did in the loft was sit and read, or sleep, so it really wasn't an issue. All of my clothes were in the closets on the main floor so I changed there or in the bathroom after a shower. So I agree that a proper shower stall was a must!
Apartment 11 was nice! I went through the same process when I was finding an apartment in Boston in the Back Bay neighborhood, and wow, it was so incredibly stressful, lol

You and your boyfriend remind me a lot of my boyfriend and me, and it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. We’re also hunting for a new apartment, just in Innsbruck, Austria. I just wanted to mention it, as from what I watched in your videos, I think you’d love Innsbruck and Austrian Tirol. It looks like Miyazaki’s movies here. However, the rent game is on the next level here, so it’s nice to see the abundance of options that you have in Seoul. Oh, somehow, I feel that you chose either the 13th or something in the neighborhood of the 16th. Loved this this was so fun to watch! Me and my now Korean husband (we weren't engaged when we went last year) stayed in one of those Korean apartment airbnb loft style too where the ceiling upstairs was also quite low. It is interesting why it's so low because it becomes hard to use that space for anything other than sleeping!
It's funny that people seem to associate "old" with "bad" there. I thought that Rose village area was lovely and had 100x more character than any of the soulless high rise lofts.
That because we usually think of older places as being built to last but they’re not typically built to last here. They’re built to last long enough for the initial maintenance contracts to expire with no problems. Then after that it’s down to the residents to fund any building maintenance and you’d be surprised by how impossible that can be. I recently left an older place I initially loved because it had character. However when we started getting a leak from the roof, we got big mold problems and cockroaches coming in. All we could do was replace the wallpaper 🤷♀️ the residents refused to pool together to rewaterproof the roof since it wasn’t effecting them (I should mention we were jeonse renters , and so we had to pass any change by the original owner.) that building was around 20 years old (only!!) and considered very old
I really hope I was the first to comment this but I immediately clicked this video bc that thumbnail! it’s definitely the apartments that all of the contestants of superstar academy stayed in when they were in korea! that layout is so unique in memorable. It was apartment number 13! over all love the effort put into this video! ❤ all of the options are so beautiful as far as designs of apartments we have in the U.S.

Just found this vlog. Loved it. I'm from NZ and thinking of moving to Seoul. My fave was Apartment 11, with the high ceilings and the bedroom space by the window (no loft, not a fan of lofts). I liked the bathroom too, and the kitchen in the hallway. But I prefer a self contained apartment with in room laundry (washer and dryer), but also like the co-sharing shared spaces, be nice to have a combo of both. Thank you for including the prices too. But those deposits, omg! Going to watch your next vlog now!

Yes. They pay a deposit and then paying a monthly fee for the apartment to cover the HOA-related fees. They get the deposit back when they leave. It’s very expensive.

The income of a normal person here is around 1400/1500€. We have a minimum of standard for the flats. For example, 2 rooms if the person are 2. Separated rooms, NO open lofts. If we talk only about the single bed room, in Italy at least, MUST be 9mq. Plus bathroom, kitchen, Flur.. We arrive easy at 16/20 mq. For ONE person. (in theory even more, because you must add even a space for a little living room. Integrated or not) How can u live with less?? And why do you (coreans/Japaneses) agree with this NOT human conditions? I truly cannot understand!
The prices are so crazy... I pay 967 USD (840.- CHF) for a 10m2 room in Zurich, Switzerland. It has a shared bathroom and kitchen and is pretty outdated. (Will be moving out, though bc it's just too small and old for my taste). But it's insane to see the differences of rent in various countries.
btw I have to say that a reason as to why I am moving is the price, too, since you can definitely get something better for the price. But it's normal that a room in a shared flat costs around 600-1400 CHF, depending on the size of the room. I am so luck as to have found a nicely sized room near my university for the same price. Will get 19m2, a share kitchen, bathroom and the best part: a shared rooftop. I'm so exitedddddddd
