I never had this problem in my high school, all of my teachers were old and out of shape.
Most of mine were older too. My sixth grade science teacher was a guy and handsome. He had a quick wit and a very little tolerance for nonsense. All the girls thought he was handsome and none of them flirted, ever. We didn’t really think teachers were really anything outside of the school. If you saw them out it was like a unicorn sighting.

I did however have young female and male teacher (a coach too) from 24-35 who got in trouble for flirting or impregnating people at our high school.
Because they were the fun/attractive teachers people tried to excuse it since they were liked but the high school kids could not consent & were groomed!!
I remember one teacher, a lad in my class was talking about. And saying "If she would let you do her, would you?" to his other class mates . This was back in 1996 1997

Many of the young teachers you see in schools never grew up emotionally and still think they are in high school. I saw this with my daughters middle school teachers years ago during a parent teacher conference.. They literally sounded like a bunch of 17 year old girls. They were talking about who was dating who rather than why my daughter did so bad on her math test. I was stunned.

If I was the husband of the first girl, I’d be demanding a paternity test because I doubt this is the first time she’s done this. I feel so bad for all the kids that were involved in these situations. No one should ever have to go through this, especially from a teacher!

Unrelated to the main point but a not-too-exhausting way of discussing singular they/them pronouns with kids, people in general, I've found is to point out instances where they've always applied...person they've never met before ("no idea where my server is but they better get here because I'm starving") and babies, for example.
I've never really understood the tendency to default to using "he or she" or even "it" when unsure of a person's gender. Politicization aside, they/them/their, very useful ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My ex wife cheated on me with someone 5 years younger who still lives at home and is an active drug addict. They communicated via Snapchat thinking I wouldn’t find out. She somehow forgot that network security is what I do for a living. Now she’s stuck with child support and no visitation.

This sort of thing has always happened. Many years ago if the aggressor was a female teacher, usually it was swept under the rug - only male teachers got in trouble. While these sorts of things are simply awful, at least female teachers are finally being brought to justice - not just the male teachers.
There is no justice in this case. The kid had her on Snap and they trusted each other. I remember being 16 a few years ago and would've hit easy ngl. It *IS* different. No different than a 15 yo getting with a 14 yo, which happens every single day. Dude is 16 and 1 year would be legal. It's a joke. It should be decided on a case by case basis, not by what the law says.

Yes. Because most women don’t start to mature mentally until they are 40-50+ years old. Some of this is by design as women are made to get along with their children for long periods of time. “Girls just wanna have fun” is not about being a mature adult with big responsibilities, it’s about living life in a childlike state.

At my highschool a 27 year old was caught and charged having relations with a 16 year old. This was 5 years ago, the trend still keeps going i guess. This is just another instance of the how social media has made people so dependent on attention, it doesn't matter where it comes from. Even when it's so obviously wrong or illegal, it simply doesn't matter, it's a drug at his point for some. This video is littered with pics of herself. Why? Because she's addicted to attention, it's the most important thing in her life, even above her child and husband. I would bet a lot she has 10's of thousands of pictures of herself in every possible light and situation.

This has been going on forever. When I was in school 1970’s, our typing teacher was known for going after the high school boys. When my kids were in HS 1990’s the computer teacher had an affair with a 17 year old and after he graduated it continued for a while. That boy isn’t being made fun of, his friends are patting him on the back. It’s sickening.

This reminds me of my former (awful) special education teacher. She had an affair with a 17 year old, and she got pregnant by him. I attended school with THEIR daughter. They tried hard to keep everything quiet, but when the situation was shed some light, they never fired the teacher. They swept it under the rug. It's so disgusting.

I turned 16 halfway through 11th grade.
I had been working since I was 11 and had worked in 5 different places already (newspaper delivery, 2 restaurants, 7-11 and a concession stand in a tourist area).
People are way too sheltered these days.
How could a mother do that to another mother's child? Would she want that to happen to her child? Her husband should divorce her & take that kid away from her. And yet another reason why children shouldn't have phones.

Parents need to put an app on their kids phone to check what’s being sent and/or received. Luckily, he was smart enough to not be a victim. Because this is happening so much to teens, they need to educate these kids on these sick 🤢 predators.

This stuff has always happened. I think there needs to be an age limit for jr high and HS teachers. I remember when I was in HS in the 90s, we had a 22 year old teacher who would go to parties with the kids and then come to school and laugh and talk about it. I’m sure he was doing stuff with girls too. He didn’t feel that much older than us because the age gap wasn’t that big and he acted immature still.
We had a young guy in charge of our track team and the entire team didn't trust the man. He gave us the icks but we couldn't put our finger on what it was so what exactly would we say to our parents? All I could explain was I wasn't comfortable and the coach had icky vibes . (I dropped out of track because I wasn't comfortable with him and switched to cross country). Years later he is caught sending images and such to student girls.
I worked with children and we actually went through a training about this very subject. We were taught that WE ARE THE ADULTS. I was 22 working with 18 year olds. Attraction happens, but need to control their feelings.
Went to parties as a teenager with cops from the local PD. LOL one teacher ain't got nothin on that.

In the 90s I had a teacher in his late 20s who would drink with his students and one in his mid 30s who did the exact same thing plus had relations with at least one female student. Age doesn't matter....predators are predators no matter the age.

This kid happened to feel uncomfortable about it but i bet there’s plenty of kids in that age range that go through with it and don’t feel uncomfortable whatsoever. the hardest part for these boys is keeping it a secret from all their friends

Happens all the time. I dated a girlfriend who hooked up in middle school with a counselor and then in high school with a couple of teachers. This was like 15 years ago but all this is not new

She didn't "hook up" with a counsellor in middle school - she was assaulted by one.
She just couldnt stop herself from going after a minor and in the process ruined her marriage, her child's perception of her, her community's perception of her, her parents perception of her. All to not even get what she wanted, thankfully.

I was an outcast among outcasts, had a horrible home life and abusive mother. My (female) high school drama teacher started being really friendly towards me. Before I realized it, I was giving her neck and back rubs every day in class. Then she moved me up to drama production without being deserving of it. Suddenly her dad died and she took the rest of the school year off to care for her mother. It wasn’t until many years later that I realized she’d been grooming me. She knew I was bullied by other students and had a mother who couldn’t care less about me and took advantage of that, offering herself as a “protector” and listener. Eww!

yes but the damage doesn't occur until you're an adult and realize you were taken advantage of by an adult. Many of the men that this has happened to say this. It's one of those situations why we have these laws in place because children don't fully understand what is going on.

When i was in high-school i had a lot of friends in college and a fake I.D and one day in science i had a substitute that was one of my friends, he was 23 and i went to college parties with him and crashed at his house and was great friends with his roommates too! Point is with her being only 23 or 24, she probably still has a mindset where she relates to her students like friends and she took it to a level it should have never gone!

You don’t realize that we’re essentially saying the same thing; op was in high school hanging out with (younger) teachers; this shouldn’t be happening but the reality is that it does; it has; and will likely continue to happen with greater frequency; based on the op I am still not certain if the op had inappropriate relations with her 23 year old teacher-friend or not; if she did she realizes now that it prolly shouldn’t have happened;

When I was in public school, we had at least one teacher get arrested for something inappropriate with a student per year in my school district from my sixth grade year to my freshman year in high school. Starting with my sixth grade volleyball coach/history teacher. He was everyone’s favorite teacher including mine until it happened. It was a crapshoot.
This is getting so ridiculous! If this was a man going after a girl they would put him under the jail. They need to do the same thing to the woman. This is someone’s son. And when you do not send them to school for them to be targeted by their teacher. I also feel sorry for the husband but he needs to realize this has nothing to do with him. Something is wrong in her mind. They keep talking about legal age being 17 are they trying to say that it would be OK to target a 17-year-old that’s in high school. What happened to the days when a teacher student relationship was inappropriate. Like I said this is so ridiculous. I pray for my grand children every day.
