I feels like building a block on the central island would make the city feel more connected. it looks like a weird island to put up an irregular block.
There are a lot of maps where I feel like the geographic and economic challenges are the central thing, and invasions just serve as an unwanted distraction. This was definitely one of them. Taking away invasions and landslides, and giving a reasonable amount of starting money, this still would have been a very tricky map.
4:03:00 I'm pretty sure that's a professional edition exclusive. Unless you feel like editing the registry, home edition owners can only "pause" updates. (That's the same effect, if you update monthly.)
you still have the itch to continue C3 Jake? I know of a few easy but enjoyable enough maps from the Caesar heaven page you might enjoy playing (most with no time limit if that's not a problem)

Jake, I have been watching for a while and heard you talking about Marek so much I started looking at his plays. I know he is using Augustus, but one of his techniques with the granaries might benefit you.
When he builds, he usually has a disconnected block of farms. Then the granaries attached to his housing blocks are all getting.
On this map, your original Plebe block and your Patrician had issues with food. But your second Plebe block had too much. Why not have the struggling granaries go get some extra? I doubt they would be able to take so much as to cause problems by taking too much out.
I have noticed similar on a couple of recent maps- that initial feeding is pretty hardcore, but if you do this for a bit and then shut it down once the hoarding stops it might help get past it.

In vanilla, granaries need a road connection to get food from another granary. It is a big headache to connect a plebeian housing block to a Patrician housing block because the market ladies will usually go and get the Patricians' goods. It's not unmanageable, but it can be an extra pressure you don't want on such a difficult map.

Thanks for the explanation. Putting it into warehouses, transferring to other warehouses, then into granaries does sound pretty ridiculous for the benefit.

Aye, I appreciate the offer, but I played and beat Anno 1800, and it did not spark any feelings of joy from me. I think it's largely down to the bland, disconnected islands that make the map feel like a randomly generated Civilization game, and the very rigid blocky design of building cities due to the Area of Effect spread of buildings.

He's answered this on other streams, he won't be playing it. The only Impressions game he enjoyed was Caesar 3 and has no interest in the remake

MRW is fine, it just lacks a graphic for what it is doing.
