    Getting fired means Losing the Game! (Caesars Favour has nothing to do with it)
    It only happens when ...
    -about 75% of your city (or population) is destroyed by an enemy invasion
    -or 75% of your city (or population) is destroyed by Caesars invasion
    -you ran out of time limit (only in custom scenarios)
    -you have no house built yet but an enemy army appears
    TRIVIA:
    -You can delete all houses at any point in the game without getting fired (unless an army appears as above descripted)
    -The text is supposed to be spoken by Caesar itself (appears in the Caesar3-files but never in the game)
    -I often managed to have forts in the middle of a city and get the whole city destroyed but never loose the game (So I had over 500 enemies at once on the map)
    Hope for everyone reading this gave a little bit of an in-depth information

    I remember playing this mission, hating it at first but then loving it. Played it in very hard mode too.
    I got massively indebted with the emperor who kept drunken insulting me and sending me his Purple Centurions. Things got so out of hand at some point, that the emperor's forces attacked at the same time i was reppealing one wave of Hannibal's attacks. and i lost about a 1/3 of the city, which also made things worse for me moneywise.
    However, seeing as i could spite the emperor himself, i purposely kept draging the debt situation on and set a defensive perimeter on the entrance, so he would keep attacking me and i could humiliate him as he went on and on with his berating tantrums.
    The thing is, unlike the scripted barbarian waves, Purple Centurions keep spamming in an ever growing number until either you lose the city or you bring back the balance.
    My defenses were different however, i set towers in the mountains everywhere i could, and did 3 defensive lines of turrets in the chokepoint but they had more space between them, the first one was slightly U Shaped so i could maximise attacking with ballistas and wall gards. The forts were split into 2 groups of 2 spearmen 1 Legionaries one close to the main defense and the other on the opposite side.
    And of course i micromanaged the hell out of 2 Spearmen units that i kept moving back and forth luring the barbarians and poking them on the north side of the map, before letting them reach the main defensive line.

  • @elycvium
    @elycvium 4 года назад +2

    I killed them only with the walls and towers without any legion, i just close both entrance and when the enemy troops get close one side, the tower shoot, then i bring down a wall from the other side so the entire enemy legions move to the other side. Doing that a few times with good timing, i killed them all without any troops :)

New barbarians and lions spawn quite fast and all move toward the coliseum. It doesn’t even need to be working. And they fight of almost any army. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

    I remember pissing off Caesar and not caring about him at all, yet I thwarted 4 of the successive invasions by his legionnaires. The armies increasing in size everytime. The walls and ballistas really did most of the work. You can have minimal forts with mostly javelin auxiliaries, but never scrimp on your ballistas and wall thickness.

    I don't know if you are aware but building wall to block the passage of the army is not the best way to use them. Armies will always seek a path that is not blocked to get to your city. They will walk halfway across the map to do it, certainly a long way from their spawn point. If you block the wider space between the "mountains" with a wall and put a wall line, with towers, down the line of the thinner path the army will try to walk past your wall to get to your city provided it is not blocked at the bottom. The towers will thin even the biggest army as it tries to pass. Wait with your own troops at the end and, mostly speaking, they will not break a sweat beating the invaders. This tactic is a little harder to manage on later maps and you do get a few breaches but it is a good strategy.

    You don`t need all that army and walls, you only need legionaries troops, and just 2 of them, if you want to be sure maybe three, but the formation is the key. Always put your formation in 4 by 4, in famous turtle roman formation, and put the flag of you troops all in the same place, stack them up shoulder to shoulder, and you will walk out of this battle with just a few casualties. I was able to defend my city from Caesars army of 2 legions with just one of my legion, and they are ruthless, but I am not sure what was my difficulty level set on that map, because I always play on very hard.

      no it will not. As long as, all your troops alive their morale is high. if you have 3-4 javelin groups you can stack them up and retreat exactly behind the last group when the enemy too close. Diamond troops takes longer to kill this way but only enemy archers are your damage. You can lure the enemy into the open field and do your work. I have 0 losses.

    A bit overkill on the towers! All you need is one large wall covering each side of city, about 4 to 6 towers at best, and at least 5 cohorts of javelin. Face the large invasion with rows of javelins. As the carthaginian army approaches, continuously reposition the quick moving javelin men and you kill the vast majority. The remainder will exit map.

    Actually, you get this cinematic when you lose your city in hands of the enemy (Rome legions or barbarians). Even if you still have the powerforce to push them back, your city is considered as destroyed so the game acts like you lose. And... The Emperor doesn't like failure so he captures you and send you in the galley as oarsman for the rest of your pitiful life :(
    By the way, even if this invasion was very huge, I think you can check on the Lindum campaign side. Celts are more dangerous than Carthaginians in my opinion. They are faster with chariots
    Invasions are scripted but you can force an invasion with a trick which demands to "cheat". Put a well, right click on it and activate the "cheat mode" by pressing alt + K. Now, you have 3 options. alt + C gives you 1 000 Dn if you're below 5 000 Dn. Alt + V gives you instant victory. And if you're clicking on the "?" on the well pop up window and press alt+K again, you'll be invaded when you leave the window :) Oh and more you will press alt+K to be invaded, more the invasion will be tough :p

    In that condition the reason you get fired is not because your favor with Rome, but it is because the enemy troops are still there and you have no chance in getting rid of them whatsoever CMIIW

    25:53 How come with just 4 tents you could man those towers and pref offices? Is there a partial global labour pool mechanics that i'm not aware of?

    • @GamerZakh
      @GamerZakh  4 месяца назад

      The way the game works is that a working building sends out a brown citizen walker. That walker needs to pass 1 house, then the building he came from gets to access your entire population. So if you scatter some tents, the buildings there get workers. It doesn't check how many are living nearby.

  • @rhbb8796
    @rhbb8796 6 лет назад

    I got fired I think in Caesarea(?), where you start off the map with an already pretty bad "city" (the one without prefectures) which I simply tore down. This puts the population under a certain %, causing you to get fired from what I remember.
    Tearing everything down does work in the other desert map though (Carthago? Where the "starting city" is built in the natives' land), I guess in that case the population at the start was lower, so the "under x% get fired" mechanic maybe hasn't kicked in yet

    • @riteshtheunknown
      @riteshtheunknown 6 лет назад

      rhbb87 that's not the case. I too have tored down houses in caesarea and made new colony. But nothing happens

      Hmm weird, I swear it happened to me at least twice that way because I keep forgetting to leave the original city. Maybe because I set the game to 10% and am already building new blocks, could that be it? I must remember to experiment a little the next time I play it

    the easiest fix and effectively cheating is to have just 1 legion for comfort and the rest javelins on this mission, pretty much no towers required outside of just comfort; the idea is to kite with javelins at reduced game speed and in this game the AI is so bad that you can get away with it and not have them charge into and ruin your city; this also means that you can export all or almost all produced weapons, however keep in mind that when sending armies to help the empire you might consider sending legions (don't know how it is calculated but I assume they count for more)

    i dont like the youre fired screen cause its playing into the myth that ancient galley rowers were all slaves which is completely false that didnt become the case until the middle ages and renaissance cause ancient and classical era galleys required skilled rowers for you to win a battle

      Micro means micromanagement. It means controlling your units specifically and constantly so they are doing exactly what you want them to do, which can maximise their efficiency with how often they attack and how they avoid taking damage from the enemy.
