Simon Cowell not one of my favourite personalities but sometimes he proves me right by being an absolute prick one of my favourite songs and Lucie you did the song proud
Nothing really hits me like Lucie doing this song. Yes she wobbled a little but fuck me it doesn't matter. When she hits those notes it was pure old school power! Wow!
LOL. Most of the comments are saying that Alice Fredenham did it better. And... Alice owns this song like no other. She gets into it, her arms flow with the song, she stretches out her body to the song. Alice owns it.
yeah, Alice's version is much better BUT she doesn't have the range this girl has. I'll tell you is Lucie did a Karen Carpenter song, she'd show just how great she is. She has that low register and the lungs to hold a note.
by far the best contestant to have ever walked onto that stage. beautiful performance. she can sing anything from my funny valentine to sweet child of mine.
Both were very good, but executed in a completely different. If there was a mood to the 2 performances... this one was happy, and Alice's was yearning.
Years ago - back in the mid eighties - Linda Ronstadt teamed up with Nelson Riddle to create a three album grouping of standards called "Round Midnight." As a song on one of the albums of the trilogy, she performed Lush Life. It was wowable at the time. Then, in 2014, along came a collaboration between Tony Bennett and pop rocker Lady Gaga, who recorded an album "Cheek To Cheek." On that album was a solo song, Lush Life, by this pop rocker, Lady Gaga. The most stunning version of the song song I've ever heard. Game, set, match. That is what Simon was touting about Lucie's performance. Lucie did a splendid performance of Funny Valentine. However, it didn't have the "wow," the sultry sexy attitude that Alice gave the song. There is no comparison of the two singers. It is all personal taste. I prefer, like I think the mainstream does, Alice's version. That takes nothing away from Lucie. She did VERY well!
i have listened to so many versions of this song and yes they are good to great BUT this is the BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG EVER.......class MISS LUCIE JONES xxxxxxxx
It's been more than two years and I still think that this has been the best performance on the Xfactor ever (with DIana Vickers' Call Me ranks second). It's not karaoke, it's not overfilled with big notes just to say "look at my voice" and thus it manages to pack a punch when she hits those notes. Plus, even though she's still, because of her expressions and the overall arrangement, she doesn't feel frozen.
I can't stop watching this..she did a beautiful job!......big band is my favorite.......I don't know what Simon was saying and I think he had second thoughts about what he said! I wish she'd put out more easy listening like this one. I think the same with Kat McPhee;.........not to take you away from Lucie, but check out the video she sings with Chris Botti's band on youtube. it's not my channel like I'm trying to get you there, it's just another class act.I wish she would sing music like this
This gal is a very accomplished singer ! The reason I can't give up my love of Alice Fredenham's version of the same song are all the little things that go into the total of any performance. Alice stole our hearts with her shyness, her fear of rejection, her obvious sharing of her emotions in singing the classic love song, the sense of the small, weak creature versus the colossus composed of the massive audience and the judges. She stood waiting for our disdain, and then she began to sing... and we were smitten...all of us. Forever. Just say'n
i think what he meant is that Lucie sang it like she was acting the performance through, like it was a character in a movie. i think he was totally wrong though, this performance was awesome
Lucie ... I am a fan as of today ! If You read this , Please include "The Standards" similiar to this !!! There are alot of people that would absolutly LOVE YOUR RENDITIONS !
This girl has all the talents of an experienced professional singer...how in the world could she have been voted below Jedward..voting .music lovers must have gone out for the night
That missing thing, which Simon couldn't exactly explain, appeared four years later, and that was the beautiful and unsurpassable performance of Alice Fredenham in April 2013. Lucie sings beautifully, but as David Walliams told to Alice that night, She performed like a goddess. It was unique because Alice herself couldn't recreate the same performance of emotion and sensuality singing My Funny Valentine.
Simon Scowell was sooo wrong about Lucie. He only wants singers that he thinks he can make money off of,to put on his record label. She is absolutely gifted and can sing anything, Her sweet personality and love of singing are just a joy to watch, You proved Simon wrong, Sweetie !
Girl really did it pretty good, nice voice and interpretation, problem is that Alice (deeply in love with her) made this song her own. We can't compare. But i really think she sang very well. Good performance.
It's a really good performance !!! very personnal .. even as they say she "acts" a little bit .. it's doesn't matter ... very nice voice a lot of personnality .. (sorry for my english)
she sung it like a fairy tale song......this song wasn't meant to be a fairy tale song......i like it but i agree with @tradewins that she doesn't hold a candle to Alice Fredenham's performance......
WOW! Fabulous. Fantaastic. She was made for this song. So smooth. Excellent voice and tone quality. I'm in love.
Simon Cowell not one of my favourite personalities but sometimes he proves me right by being an absolute prick one of my favourite songs and Lucie you did the song proud
'You sang it like an actress' well nuts to you Simon, she's now a successful West End performer
Absolutely fabulous, what a performance, I know this is often said on these shows but wow, she is the real thing
Alice's voice is like Liquid gold and Lucie's was like sweet wine. ^^ Both are beautiful and fulfilling.
Best rendition ever. Truly. perfect arrangement and a perfect performance.
Lucy sang this song PERFECTLY. Quiet in the right place and loud in the right place. What a voice!
Simon is smitten by Alice 😂
I was too! Who wouldn’t be. By the way the audience was and do were the judges. They are gave Alice a standing ovation.
I agree with Simon, this is one of my favorite songs and this was more theatrical but not a bad job this song is a classic.
This was one of the few times in the series I has goose bumps - it send shivers down my spine.
Awesome.
outstanding for a raw talent .... 100% the look and the voice
beatiful song, beautifully sung by a beautiful girl.. Cardiff
Love this performance, nothing is missing!
Nothing really hits me like Lucie doing this song. Yes she wobbled a little but fuck me it doesn't matter. When she hits those notes it was pure old school power! Wow!
Watching on Valentine’s Day in 2021 :)
Alice owns this song, not heard anyone sing it better, looking forward to the release of her new album when finished.
Looking for Alice Fredenham
LOL. Most of the comments are saying that Alice Fredenham did it better. And... Alice owns this song like no other. She gets into it, her arms flow with the song, she stretches out her body to the song. Alice owns it.
Alice Fredenham is the new face of this song. No one nails this song like Alice.
***** This version is more faithful to the original. Alice's was not. I still like alice's version better, but I really do like this one a lot.
I love Alice but this version was better, more classy and nostalgic
Alice is wonderful and so is Amber Holcomb but Lucie is great as well! All three did an amazing job
Chaka Khan has the best performance of this song.
Yes 😊
Lucy Jones❤what an awesome performance ❤❤U sang like a super star❤❤❤
she was great shes a great singer and she can be an great actress
such a beautiful, talented and sweet young girl. hope the very best for her.
yeah, Alice's version is much better BUT she doesn't have the range this girl has. I'll tell you is Lucie did a Karen Carpenter song, she'd show just how great she is. She has that low register and the lungs to hold a note.
lucy I remember you , u were robbed love your pitch in this song..
by far the best contestant to have ever walked onto that stage. beautiful performance. she can sing anything from my funny valentine to sweet child of mine.
wow this girl sings.. no matter it was acting or not, this was best singing of her..
This young lady shows tremendous promise!
This girl was good but Alice!!! owns this hands down.
She can ultimately get any guy she wanted!!! She is amazing
i agree...Alice Fredenham just stole it away.....the most sultry magical voice.......everyday i got an urge to listen to her voice ♥ ♥
pleasant enough but doesn't hold a candle to Alice Fredenham's performance on BGT
Both were very good, but executed in a completely different. If there was a mood to the 2 performances... this one was happy, and Alice's was yearning.
lucie is doing good, west end, eurovision...
An intimate rendition by Lucie Jones. Unexpected, but superb. Magnificent.
what a sweet and good heart girl, ant the preformence was amazing.
Simply beautiful, such an amazing range of music

please please please , take that smile off you face ,, you could be world class
She is a STAR 💯
Wow she delivered madly. Love her.....
i have listened to so many versions of this song and yes they are good to great BUT this is the BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG EVER.......class MISS LUCIE JONES xxxxxxxx

I think she is remarkable 😅😊❤❤
full of techniques and awesomeness!
really good.
you're right simon. Alice Fredenham
I can't stop watching this..she did a beautiful job!......big band is my favorite.......I don't know what Simon was saying and I think he had second thoughts about what he said! Loved this. Stunning
she's beautiful
And her humble shyness is very attractive to me!
She sounds like a disney princess.
She's a jazz singer at heart.
She should get a record deal or somfin
That sent shivers down my spine - I was mesmerized.
wow, lovely young lady
Emotion.. There was none. She cuz she has a perfect perfect voice.
C WAW ! magnifique!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LUCIE JONES GREAT VOICE
i think what he meant is that Lucie sang it like she was acting the performance through, like it was a character in a movie. i think he was totally wrong though, this performance was awesome
das ist auch hundretprocent!!!! WUNDERSCHÖN!!!!!!
Simon is totally right she was acting the vocals are great yet her voice cracked and she wasn't feeling it she was acting it
Apart from a little hiccup, this is the best version of this song. Beautiful
Eccellente. ❤️
🎻🎻🎻
You are right Simon, something missing here, namely, Alice Fredenham
Alice blows her away, when I hear Alice, it takes me back to the 30s and 40s! Love her!!!!!!!!!!!
you are great.Love to hear you sing
What Simon was looking for was Alice’s liquid gold version! And he got it
LOL the petal comment though.
Lucie ... I am a fan as of today ! If You read this , Please include "The Standards" similiar to this !!! There are alot of people that would absolutly LOVE YOUR RENDITIONS !
I absolutely love big band
This girl has all the talents of an experienced professional singer...how in the world could she have been voted below Jedward..voting .music lovers must have gone out for the night
Simon never liked Lucy from day one she proved him wrong
OMG! She is amazing!!!
Why isn't she signed to a label and famous
"it was a class act" - couldn't have said it better myself. What agreat choice of song for her.
I persornal think that Lucies voice i more clasic. I love it!
This is by far the best version of this song. I just listened to Sting and Chris Botti and this version totally smashes it
That missing thing, which Simon couldn't exactly explain, appeared four years later, and that was the beautiful and unsurpassable performance of Alice Fredenham in April 2013. Love Lucie. Is she the same girl who won the Eurovision UK 2016 ?
It's not an easy song...she did the high notes very well!
Whitney's I Will Always LoveYou
Damn fine performance, Alice notwithstanding. Brilliant, actually.
thanks Lucie, a great performance!
Alice didn't pretend to be innocent, she was terrified of failing again in a huge way. Innocence and naivete isn't the same as scared and nervous.
James Bond worthy!
She comes from the sky !!
This performance just drips SEXY.
Best version ever.
Lovely .....
We can praise her for her continued success and having the nerve to sing the "forbidden song"
This is the last time I ever watched X Factor, after Lucy was voted off, it was very clear the show was a scam 🤬😡
alice frednhams cover was the best
Boata voz nisso! Estupenda!
Have we forgotten Frank freaking Sinatra lol
Alice...
Pure perfect notes BUT Devoid of warmth and emotion that Alice has.
Simon Scowell was sooo wrong about Lucie. He only wants singers that he thinks he can make money off of,to put on his record label. She is absolutely gifted and can sing anything, Her sweet personality and love of singing are just a joy to watch, You proved Simon wrong, Sweetie !

It's a really good performance !!! very personnal .. even as they say she "acts" a little bit .. it's doesn't matter ... very nice voice a lot of personnality ..
(sorry for my english)
she did it awesome, but Alice actually owns the song
she was awesome
Lucy cariad, regardless of what Cowel said your wonderful XX
wonderful
she sung it like a fairy tale song......this song wasn't meant to be a fairy tale song......i like it but i agree with @tradewins that she doesn't hold a candle to Alice Fredenham's performance......
I would like to hear her do a cover of Connie Francis' "Where the Boys Are" I think she could do a great job on it.
