excellent video Mike thank you! I was wondering if there was a way to stream to another computer and be able to minimize the game on the host computer?
Im playing my steam games from a virtual pc (vk play cloud gaming) as a host pc..and im making my macbook air 2017 as a client..steam remote plays video optimization is better than any cloud services..but i have a little bit problems whics are ping or fps drops or fps unstabilization.. do you hsve any ideas about solving this problem ?
Hey Mike! I am a big fan of your videos. I was just wondering if you could make a video about streaming from Steam or Sunshine to a docked Steam Deck, and taking advantage of the Virtual Display Driver dummy monitor. I want to be able to stream to my deck (with all my blue tooth devices already connected to the deck) and be able to bump up the resolution (my pc monitor only does 1080p) with the virtual display driver to display 1440p on my 4K LG OLED TV (that is connected to a steam dock). If this is possible please let me know, or could this be done with Sunshine+Moonlight? What I worry about using Sunshine and Moonlight is that it will not take advantage of my BT (Keyboard, Mouse, Controllers) already sync'd with the deck like Steamlink does, or if I am wrong make me a liar, hahhahaha. Thanks in advance Mikethe Tech, keep up the great work!
I was wondering why "NVFBC capture" would be disabled by default. A quick Google search tells me it works in some cases, and not in others (particularly if a game isn't running in full-screen). Nvidia says it's depreciated. The prevailing advice seems to be to leave it disabled.
I used to remote play for my pc to laptop trying for 2 yr to get work properly the problem is it will not let me to delete it or on perrrot it and set it up again.
After i press Stream the game will start on my main computer, but the PC where i want to play it, nothing happens after hitting Stream. Any ideas on how to fix this?
i had the same problem, wanted to stream the game from my pc to my potato laptop, nothing happended after i press stream, i recommend downloading microsoft VC redistributable, after i download that on my laptop, it worked (hope this helps)
@mikethetech This was a very helpful video. I was able to stream play from my desktop to my laptop at my house. I was wanting to try and stream from my desktop at home to my office. Is this possible like you showed at the end of this video? Please and thank you.
I have a question. When I use steam link the PC that I connected to cant do anything else. is there a way to use steam link and also use the PC regularly. because I want to stream the gameplay from steam link.
I wanna stream my Steam Deck OLED to my PC and use my PC's MnK and SS Sonar or capture the display with OBS that way capture card-free But from what I tried, I can only stream the games themselves Is it possible to directly connect my Deck to my PC and do it that way?
Having issues. When I hit stream on my computer. It's loads on my main PC. But does nothing on my mini PC. I think the issue is, one is windows 10 the other is windows 11. Anyone else having this problem?
I'd like to be able to use Steam Link to play games from my PC while traveling with a macbook without having to leave my PC on. I've noticed that the client is able to turn the PC on, but the host hits the lock screen (in which I have a password) and the client doesn't conclude the connection. Anyone knows how to solve this? Ideally I'd like to keep my password.
Hello, thank you for such a good guide. my friend and I tried this remote play for a game which is for two players and you can play it for one pc both at the same time, with two controllers, since we live far away from each other we thought that remote will be very good idea. We had issues with sound. I checked the section to have a audio on host, but it steam remote was streaming also our discord call too,and my friend who wasnt host, could hear himself twice and it was a very annoying problem, can you somehow separate those audios? Or to just stream only a game or something?
Is there a way to see my desktop on PC to PC using steam link and control the remote computer that way? I use the steam link app in the SteamDeck and can achieve that no problem but there doesn't seem to be a steam Link app to download on PC...
Same I also have been having no audio issues and it came and went every now and then. I thought the solution was audio frequency on sound settings or device properties set to below 24 bit but now recently I’m having no audio issues again
So what if you want to hook up your PC that is currently using the streaming feature to your tv? The PC screen on my computer blacks out. Is there another way to do this using an HDMI cable to the laptop?
@@MikeTheTech I tried that but the laptop screen goes blank. The setup would be to have my gaming PC use steam link which then connects to my TV. My laptop can't handle big titles like my gaming PC can
Steam Remote Play is easier to use and configure. Sunshine/Moonlight is more of a hassle, but offers more customization and options if you know how to configure it. Personally, I use both. Steam Remote Play for the Steam Deck and Steam Link, and Sunshine/Moonlight so stream to other PCs and phones where I need to set specific resolutions and settings. Both provide solid performance when configured correctly.
I personally tested steam remote play, parsec and moonlight, and moonlight always had the best performance for me. SRP had the worst latency, parsec was better but I couldn't stream at 120 fps if I recall correctly. I guess it's ways a good idea to test and see what works best for you.
Generally very useful video. One thing I'd like to ask though, how do you get audio to play on the client PC? With all settings being the same as this tutorial, my audio fails to play client side and it's been driving me nuts because nowhere can I find a working solution.
@@MikeTheTech when i add a non steam game in pc library and try to play via remote play on steamdeck , all controls in steamdeck are disabled... any idea why ?
Yes. Works fine for me. I just switch between KBM to Gamepad in the Steam Deck settings. You can also check the same setting on the host Steam controller settings. Sorry it’s not working for you. Do you have vigembus installed? That can sometimes help.
all fun and games until you open it on the other computer and the audio ends on one of them and cant be on both at the same time then they tell you in repeat to have steam link which does absolutely nothing

Yup. Add something like notepad as a non Steam game then load that. It will open a desktop stream.

Client.
Makes more sense to connect it to client but if for whatever, you can still connect it to the host. Not sure why you would, but you can.

Nothing needs to be installed on the Steam Deck to stream the game to it. Only on the host.
