Thank you guys so much for watching! The love and support has been insane lately and I am so so grateful. Love you guys so much.❤
Loving the content! For videos that are numbered like this timestamps are great ❤
@@Jammy-kun thanks so much! I’ll make sure I do that in the future!
I followed every step. Great video. Everything worked perfect. Cheers! 🙏🫡
@@NeroLobo cheers!
Enjoy your steam deck bro I adore it had it since close to launch, still play regularly
Before I had a steam deck everyone said "they are overrated". After I got my OLED a month ago, it is in fact NOT overrated! Best purchase I have made in a long time!
Excited for you! I agree. The steam deck OLED is incredible.
Just ordered my oled hasn’t arrived yet, any tips when I do get it?
@chucknowakowski6676 Emudeck at least. Emulating on the deck is a blast. But honestly the only tip I could give you is download a game in your library that you wanna play but haven’t and dive in. If you haven’t played Elden Ring or Ghosts of Tsushima yet make sure to purchase and download. Fantastic games that are fantastic on the deck.
Its my preferred platform for indies currently playing F&H termina
What oled version?
Steam deck was a great purchase. As someone that is busy and only has an hour or so to play each night, being able to lay down in bed and play PC games is a game changer.
DUDE. Watch this video I did. I play steam deck in bed all the time and I ALWAYS use this accessory to do it. It’s a game changer for bed gamers. Glad you’re enjoying the steam deck. Thanks so much for watching.😊 link to the other video: ruclips.net/video/6_LfDpmd7z0/видео.htmlsi=D7Xrv96jni8R2Glf
Real
💯 bro,
The most down to earth guide I’ve seen, so many filler and garbage videos about the deck but this one was a gem. Bonus points for actually linking affordable upgrades in the description as well
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed. I try to be down to earth as I can in every video. I’m in some hot water for that on my latest video I think.😂 thank you so much for watching!!
I'm the guy who somehow never heard of the steam deck, then saw the steam deck, immediately bought the 1Tb OLED and now am researching everything I can while I wait for the mail.
Welcome to the club! It’s one of the best gaming related purchases I’ve ever made. Adore the thing. Excited for you! Thank you so much for watching.😊
@@AndrewTaylorYT Thanks man, you helped me feel much better about dropping that cash!
@helmetfire5973 glad to hear. Super excited for you! Thank you so much
For watching the video!
Same bro! I never knew about these newer handhelds, (steam deck included) , until a couple months ago. I have been really wanting one and watching all kinds of videos. After watching @AndrewTaylorYT review of the deck, I finally pulled the trigger. I literally got my 1TB OLED in the mail today and just started setting it up, it is AWESOME so far. And HUGE thanks to @AndrewTaylorYT for all the awesome tricks and tips to make it even better!
@AvoPlays99 so happy for you man! Have a blast! I’m gonna set up my steam deck and try to do a twitch stream with it. I’ll make sure to post a community post for it. It’s gonna be a fun video seeing if I can turn the steam deck into a streaming PC. So many cool things you can try and do with the deck. Hope you enjoy it man. Thanks so much for watching!
My SteamDeck boots like the classic Playstation. So many nostalgia feels.
Love that
Ps1 bootup? With the sounds and everything?
@@jponz85if so I want this
Yup, I have it too
today I finally pulled the trigger and ordered my OLED steam deck so this was a MASSIVE help
That’s awesome! Super excited for you! Glad you enjoyed the video. Make sure to get Decky and Emudeck setup soon as it gets in. Hope you enjoy the steam deck as much as I have! Thanks so much for watching!
@@AndrewTaylorYT the emudeck sounds like a must tbh and decky sounds like it can do SO much
@@JediMasterBinkz they’re both really incredible. Decky actually has Emudeck plugins as well so you can enable achievements on emulated games and such. There’s 2 Emudeck Decky plugins you should 100% check out!
Have fun my guy
Same. I got mine for my birthday!
Using the decky for almost a year and you still managed to show me so many new ones. Ty and subbing
Thank you so much. Means a lot. Glad you enjoyed.😊
Just so you know, for any of the shortcuts involving the Steam button, you can use the three dots button as the Steam button and the combo will still work. That way you don't have to use your left thumb for activating the shortcut and awkwardly use your index finger to adjust the brightness on the thumbstick.
as someone who values customization, learning about decky was probably the best thing to come out of this. now sonic can punch me in the face every time i boot my system up!
Ayy. There ya go. Decky is such an awesome addition to the steam deck.
Buying the Steam Deck was one of the best things I did. Love my oled and every customization feature.
Thank you very much. You skipped a few steps describing downloading Decky, but that is exactly what I needed. I learn best by stumbling along until I get it right. I now have Decky, didn't break my Deck, and know more than I did before. Thanks!
Great job. I got my OLED Steam deck yesterday in the mail. I gave my LCD to my son, we are having an awesome time. This really helps.
Glad this helped you! Thanks so much for watching!
@@AndrewTaylorYTGreat video ! My understanding of the Oled vs Original LCD version is that the Oled has more backlighting, so you can play it outside / in sunlight more than you could w the original Deck ?
Actually I’m pretty sure that is not even true. Difference are for one the OLED display. OLED displays don’t have any backlight. The battery and speakers are also better. It’s also does 90 hz and higher brightness. If you scroll down on my channels video page I did a video explaining what OLEDs are years ago. It’s one of my first videos so it’s not great but it explains what OLEDs are if you’re interested! Thanks again for watching!
The steam deck is one of my best game purchases I ever got ❤
Same. Its awesome. Thanks so much for watching!
Another absolute banger! Definitely going to follow your advice and do all of these! Can’t believe it gets better… less than a week owning the OLED and i’m so blown away it’s crazy
Like I keep saying. It’s just one of the coolest gadgets ever. You can do so so so much with the thing and it’s so fun. Enjoy Decky and Emudeck!! Next weeks video is a new piece of tech that I got that also happens to be an INCREDIBLE steam deck accessory. 😎 thanks so much for watching!
Just ordered my first steamdeck this week and have been a little overwhelmed trying to get a grasp on learning how to customize, download emulators, general tweaks etc.
This video was SUPER helpful. Not just the information but the way its presented is so nice man. Great sound quality, you speak well and with a good cadence, and you have helpful visuals as well. Subscribed.
We’ve been loving emudeck as a family. I have it setup so that when we play Wii, we can have our true Wii motes connected to it. It’s been absolutely fantastic to play 4 player Wii games upscaled!
The steam deck connects so easily to a tv. I rarely have any kind of display issues. Unlike my gaming pc when I try to connect it to the tv. It’s always a disaster haha.
I have the same experience! I got a GameCube controller adapter so me and friends can all play old Mario kart and Mario party and such and it’s so much fun! Emudeck makes it so easy and the display compatibility is so convenient with Steam OS I 100% agree. Thanks so much for watching!😊
Emudeck is definitely a Godsend because you can just autoconfigure a bunch of emulators and link games to your Steam library for quick launch almost effortlessly
It even sets the internal resolution for 3D platforms to a perfect balance for the deck's native resolution and hardware
Does SD support Wii motes and also the bar? What about other Wii accessories?
@@JakaNastran Yup. As far as I can tell, it supports everything. In order for the Wii remotes to connect to the steam deck, you have to open Dolphin from the desktop. Go to the controller settings and enable continuous scanner for the Wii motes. Once you enable that, you can launch any games from the standard gaming mode. Now when you use a Wii mote and press 1 + 2 together, it will connect to the steam deck. As for the sensor bar, it is just showing some IR lights in it. So I bought a wireless one off of Amazon and just use that. it doesn’t actually have to connect to the steam deck.
One issue though. I tried using third party controllers and I had issues. I had to use original OEM Wii motes. I bought some used ones from good will since they always have a bunch. I have a couple normal Wii motes and a couple Wii motion plus ones. They all work perfectly.
@@JakaNastran The bar doesn't actually have any data connection.
It's just two infrared LEDs the remote uses to track it's own movement and the wire to the Wii was just for power
You can literally replace it with two candles in a pinch
I just bought the 512gb LCD version yesterday for the Black Friday sale. It should be here in a few days I’m excited!
Thank you! I love Decky so much! It made my deck so much more awesome!
Glad you enjoy it! Love sharing stuff I’m enjoying with everyone.😊 thank you so much for watching!!
I've had my steam deck since launch and just found this video. Thanks for sharing, this'll be a huge difference maker for me
Straight to the point with genuine good advice is rare these days keep up the good work man. And thanks for the tips im loving my steamdeck so far.
Thank you for this video, I’m very new user of the steam deck and I love it. This video is a big help for things that I don’t know. I’m still trying to learn and understand on how things work and don’t work.
I’m glad it was helpful! Thank you so so much for watching! Feel free to DM me on Twitter if you ever have specific questions!
This is great info for a first time pc gamer since 1995. I got the oled steam deck at tax return and these tips are awesome. Thanks.
No problem! PC gaming is amazing but it’s really annoying. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion but devices like the steam deck make onboarding into PC gaming so much comfortable. Glad you enjoyed. Thanks so much for watching. New video in a couple hours! See you soon!
Recent console convert, thank you for your simple and well made video. This was super helpful
Actually good suggestions on what to get and how those add-ons can help you and how they work. Thanks. Good video 👍
I've been a steam deck owner for a little over a year now. I don't know why, but I never realized that there was a button combo list. Pretty helpful. I appreciate the tips.
I also appreciate that this isn't just a list of accessories. Too many RUclipsrs make "tips and tricks" videos that just end up being accessory after accessory after accessory.
Im glad you enjoyed! I was kinda worried people wouldn’t like these tips because they’re all pretty base level software stuff. Im happy people enjoyed. There’s so many little secrets like the button combo list people miss on this device. It’s honestly a lot of fun hunting down all the weird little things.
As a new Deck owner I found this video very helpful. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for watching!
The quality of this video exceeded my expectations by a lot. Glad I got it recommended (Even though I really didn't need it xD)
Thank you so so so much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed. I totally understand the not needing it. Always fun to watch through some videos that affirm your purchase though.😂 thank you again!!
Thinking of finally pulling the trigger on one and it’s nice to know there are so many options! Thanks for the video! I’ll come back when I finally buy one for sure.
They're finally coming to Australia this November, I'm so excited!
That’s awesome man! Excited for my homies down under! I’ve visited Australia and New Zealand and adore both countries. Melbourne was one of the best cities I’ve ever traveled to. So hyped for y’all!
@@AndrewTaylorYT Melbourne is my city! That makes me smile that you enjoyed your time here! I have been waiting for the release of the SD for years here haha. I know I could have purchased before now through third parties, but somehow I just ended up waiting and now I may as well get it direct through Valve. Thanks for a great video!
@fern8655 the new steam deck experience is super special. Comes with digital
Goodies for your Steam account and is fun especially if you’ve used Steam for a good while. And yea man. Melbourne was just beautiful. Loved everything about it. There is a special bar there that I’d read about since it opened back in 2017 called GGEZ and it was such a cool experience. Food was great. Transit was simple. Sunsets were incredible. I really enjoyed Australia all around. Melbourne was super special though. Thank you again for watching. Means a lot.😊
@@fern8655 did you end up getting one at launch
Really nice video. Didn’t know about this stuff. And I have it for a while. Thnx for making it better!
I cant thank you enough for your video. Clear, calm and to the point. You rock dude.
Thanks so much😊
Have had one for a year and a half now.. best purchase I have ever made. Love the pc abandonware that can be found in the internet archives the most. 😁
That’s awesome man. Happy for you! The steam deck can just play around with all of that kinda stuff and it’s really amazing.
My favorite gaming device of all time. It does it all and it's definitely worth the purchase. I will be buying another one as a back up.
Just got mine today, and I actually learned some cool things from this video! Definitely gonna try some of it out! Thank you!
Happy to help! Thank you so much for watching!!
I watched this video as a first to the Chanel and this guy is a whole bundle of good vibes
Thank you so much.😊 I’ve done a few videos that were more critical and I honestly just didn’t have as much fun making them. Love good vibes and just wanna have fun and be happy. A lot more good vibes on the way. Thanks so much for watching!!!
Awesome advice, thanks!
Please consider, in the future, posting the names of the programs somewhere.
Either on screen or in the description. Some of us have hearing difficulties 😣
Will do! I'll make sure to add the logo and name when I announce certain stuff. Thanks so much for watching!
Good recommendation 👍
Just a comment for the algorithm. Awesome video dude! Keep ul the good work!❤
this video just made me so happy, those small improvements are HUGE to me, can't wait to buy a steam deck next month!
Im so glad it made you happy! Excited for you and your new steam deck. I have a video releasing Friday about my favorite steam deck accessory. Make sure to check that video out as well! Thanks so much for watching!
Yesterday I got my Steam Deck OLED. It's one of the best purchases I've made in a while
Got the LCD version back in 2022 or 3 definitely my best purchasing options in my life
With decky and a couple plugins later and a USB-C to A cable I can make anything portable without a internet website I am absolutely thankful the deck exists since it had changed my gaming/pc life forever in the best way I can imagine
The deck aint overrated!!! 🎉
Respect to this fella, have never seen a steam deck looks so small in someone's hands haha! Nice video too
Thank you!! After I hated on the ROG Ally X ergonomics I started thinking I might have massive hands.😂
That's actually pretty cool! I just got my Steam Deck a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still figuring things out.
That’s awesome! Congrats! A lot of cool stuff you can do with it. Thanks so much for watching!!
Great video, thanks for sharing
Super helpful video. Thank you. 🎉
Glad it helped! Thank you so so much for watching.😊
honestly I watched a ton of videos about improving my console and they didnt go much deeper than „Dock exists“
Thank you for your video, it actually helped me get more out of my Deck
Thank you so much! I’m happy you enjoyed. These are basically all of the things I did to my deck. The reason I haven’t made a follow up video even though it’s done a ton of views is because I didn’t do much more. I was incredibly satisfied with these 5 things.😂
I recently bought a steam deck a few days ago and came across your video today. You have given me all the information I need to open up more possibilities with this beast of a handheld. Great video you have earned yourself a new sub and a like on this video x
Glad i could help! Thank you for watching and thank you so so much for the like and sub. Means the world!😊
Awesome video man, very insightful
Great vid man, Never stop doing what you love this was a pretty entertaining/interesting watch 👍
Thank you so so much.😊 Staying creative and exploring content recently. Having a lot of fun. Thanks so much for watching!!
@ of course! 🫡 🤝Looking forward to the new content, I like the steam deck stuff too no doubt
@doingthedab4800 thanks man! I don’t have much PC handheld stuff planned. I wanna do a commentary about the steam deck though. Kind of loosely similar to the pokemon video I recently did. Wanna talk about “comfy gaming” and how handhelds and being able to just get cozy and play in bed on a small little system has been special for decades and how the steam deck brings that forward. Plenty of other videos for other stuff planned too. Thank you so much again!❤️
@ Aye no problem at all bro! that sounds awesome I’m gonna tune in for that cause the steam deck still impresses me today and the community for it/on it, is great too, video style nevertheless is nice too so big Ws bossman, keep doing your thing! 🫡
The Deck makes me feel like a kid again. Great video!
That’s a great way to put it. Makes you feel like I kid again. I totally agree. Thanks so much for watching.😊
Got the og deck with the antiglare (most expensive at the time.) I confess, it sad relatively unused for a few months until I figured out what I could do with it. Fantastic device. Gonna wait til the next oled model comes out to upgrade
Love this video man, first time I’ve seen you but just started using more emulation, for some reason after 3 years of Steam deck I still wasn’t using Deckie, got it now
Thank you so much! I’m happy you enjoyed the video. Enjoy Emudeck and Decky! Thanks so much for watching!
How big of an SD card for EmuDeck would you recommend?
Depends on what you wanna emulate. I exclusively do old Nintendo games and they are not big. I have a 512gb card but I’ve also put Steam games on there. I’ve got like 30 games in Emudeck and I think it might be taking up 15 gigs? If you’re trying to emulate more recent and bigger games then that space will be helpful. If not you could easily get away with 32gb or 64. 512 is just solid value if you want extra space just in case.
I appreciate the video. Liked, thumbs up, subscribed. Thank you sir.
Thank you!😊 Uploading a steam deck video about my favorite games I played in 2024 here in a couple days! Thanks so much for the sub and support!
A truly different kind of video. Most other tips videos focus on hardware, thanks for sharing some software side improvements. Learned some new things.
I’m happy you enjoyed! I wanna do similar things with some other tech. There are so many settings or apps people don’t know about on all kinds of devices that make your experience so much more efficient or better. Thank you so much for watching!!
Thank you for the tips and tricks. I have the Steam Deck LCD, so I will try out some of what you shared. Thank you! 😊
No problem! Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for this. Mine arrived literally only 4 days ago. Perfect timing.
Congrats! Uploading a video on my favorite steam deck accessory tonight.👀 Thanks so much for watching!!
Great tutorial. Thanks family
I just got an OLED. I am absolutely in love.
Love that. It’s such a fun console to own. I love the thing as well.
@@AndrewTaylorYT I started by downloading my entire steam library and seeing which games had compatibility right out of the gate, which was a surprisingly high number! Carmageddon 2, despite being labeled as, “unsupported”, works like a dream, with just a little control mapping being the biggest issue. Now I’m diving into the world of emulators, and integration of my GoG library, and I’m realizing this just might be the greatest gaming device ever 😁👍🏻
I just bought my OLED steam deck, so thanks heaps for this video
I've seen so many of these videos and this is the best one by far, thank you!
No problem! Thank you so much for watching!!
Hi, its a great video. I love it. Do you mind sharing the css loader setting, i wanna change it to ur setting. It looks fire.
Give me a DM on Twitter. I’ll need a reminder for when I’m home and it’s a bit of a list. Thanks so much for watching!
I bought a steam deck in around October last year. During that time I used it a lot and was fascinated by all the options it can provide besides the normal steam stuff. After time, I used it less and less and lost it during a fire that was affecting my home on March 6th this year. RIP to my deck. Now I'll wait until the real steam deck 2 is going to launch and I'll buy it and spend more time with it
I’m so sorry about your house fire man. That stuff can really ruin lives. I hope you’re on your feet. Steam Deck 2 will be interesting. Not sure how long it’ll be but I’m here for it when it does come out. Thank you so much for watching. Hope all is well.❤️
Nice video! While I didn't necessarily learn anything new here (I watch a lot of Steam Deck videos) it's always nice to see more creators getting the word out about the Deck.
If you're willing to accept a suggestion - if you were to add the different chapters on the video's timeline/scrubber to line up with each suggestion I think it would really take your video to the next level.
Looking forward to more content!
Thanks so much! Tried to keep stuff simple. More of an introduction to steam deck tips and i think it worked really well! This was the first video that i got grilled in the comments about not having chapters. I got a tool for my editor shortly after to help export the chapters. Been putting them in more videos!
I have seen hundreds of videos, but nobody speaks of the stuff he is talking. He earned my sub. ❤
Thank you so much!😊
When the next time comes and we boot our Steam Decks with curved icons and smooth loading animations, the Slap of God is on time. Grape video!
Thanks so much for watching!

Salute from Bronx. I had my steam deck for some time now and always had issues with emulations. I’m looking forward to playing ol throwbacks like Def Jam, SSX, And etc.
Excited for you! Salute from Seattle! Thanks so much for watching!

Happy for you! Enjoy the steam deck! Thanks so much for watching!
ive just ordered an oled and this is all so overwhelming im sure ill get it
I plan to buy oled in few weeks how much storage I upgrade I plan to dual boot tiny 11 and steamos
If you’re comfortable breaking warranty you can put any size drive into the machine so you could save some money and get the 512. Up to you really though.
my oled 1tb is on the way. i'm giddy . thanks for the video. i'll emulate EVERYTHING
Great video. Instant Sub. 👍🏼
Thank you so much😊
Jist ordered 2 512GB oled steam decks one for me and one for my wife she loves the sims 4 gonna setup custom key combos for her.
My girlfriend is the exact same way! We’ve created a pretty awesome custom layout for her. She still prefers to dock the deck and play keyboard and mouse though. With some tweaking you can comfortably play the sims 4 in 1080p on a monitor off the deck! Very versatile.
I bought my steam deck when it came out and have used it basically every day. My pc is very weak so its been my main way of playing newer games. Sure i have to play them on very low settings but that wont stop me
you sir are a god send
Why thank you. Thank you so much for watching.🙂
Install emudeck in to the SD card right?
Either or. It doesn’t actually matter. I prefer the SD card because I can pull it out and load ROMs onto it from the computer. If you don’t want to be able to move it around you can throw it on the internal drive as well.
I have been trying to find someone that can tell me how to get the icons & highlights to have rounded edges like yours instead of the block style it usually is? I have CSS Loader i just can't find it. Great video by the way, keep em comin!
It’s in css loader. It’s one of the toggles. Just gotta keep digging. Thanks so much for watching! I’m keepin em coming. Uploaded last night and am starting on the next one tonight.🙂
Nice video 🎉
Thanks so much!😊
Great video. Just got my Steam Deck. How do I get my keyboard and install buttons (etc.) to the colors on yours?
That was a CSS loader find. You can search through tons of keyboard themes! Thanks so much for watching!
its not that valve would not put something like proton db badges plugin.... its that their implementation requires a lot of people to play the game first before they start asking the players if there is anything wrong with the game or is it working fine.... then it will be added into the steam page...
and then there are the usual trolls that just put everything as unplayable... or its based on an outdated protondb or you could run it at other version situations....
Thanks for the great tips. Have had my LED SteamDeck for a year now and still love it. Am getting a 1TB M.2 to replace my 512 Gb one as it's stuffed with way too much stuff and I want more of the utilities that you recommended. In the meantime I'm getting a 1 TB micro SD card as I've already filled up both 512 gb AND a 256 gb micro SD cards. See you again soon.
#3 is basic shortcuts, I'd talk shit about it but its amazing how many youtubers include them in videos so i can only imagine how few people actually seem to realize they exist.
#5 you didnt mention anything about needing roms for games or bios for certain systems. I know you mentioned there's a ton of videos that go into it, but that basic information could help a lot of people so they dont think its as easy as installing emudeck and magically having all the games they want.
Other than man it's a good list, I'm downloading decky tonight. Thanks dude.
Thanks for watching! Number 3 is an interesting one. I agree that there is a surprising amount of people who don’t know any of them. Even me though. I knew them but I didn’t know the brightness toggle. I just use all of the buttons besides the keyboard so little that they get completely forgotten. #5 I totally mentioned needing roms and how I recommend installing Emudeck on a micro SD because you could then use a computer to dump roms onto it. I did not mention anything about bios which is correct and I would have if Emudeck didn’t handle all of the bios stuff on its own. I mentioned videos that go in depth into emulation and I said that specifically as the subject of emulation has a lot of depth but Emudeck handles a lot of the depth for you and all you need to do is load ROMs. I’m pretty sure I even define what a ROM actually is. I say something along the lines of “And if you don’t know what a ROM is, just know that it’s basically the game file. You download it and drop it into the file that’s for the console you have the game for.” Made sure to go over the basics so people could get up and playing! Thanks again for watching! Worked hard on the video and I’m glad people are enjoying it.😊
@@AndrewTaylorYT You're right. I don't know how I missed the part about the ROMs, my mistake.
@@cullum73 No problem. Thanks so much for watching!
fantastic video....helped me out a lot.
You can actually use both joysticks to adjust the brightness😊
Thank you!

Same one that I've got! Congrats! Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for this video. I'm currently waiting for my Steam Deck to arrive. I already knew about Emudeck, but these other utilities like Decky and Proton DB badges are great to know about and now I'm even more excited to receive my deck. :) Cheers!
