Yea but I also have better speakers and a better webcam and a thunderbolt dock for more I/O. Prefer to buy a good display and not waste money on worse peripherals that I already have better versions of.

@@AndrewTaylorYTYeah but you have to remember this is adjacent to the Studio and Mac Mini, and specifically designed to emulate the iMac experience. I have the old Thunderbolt Display that they made, and the “all in one dock” aspect was the major selling point. A lot of people are not streamers or content creators behind the camera, but they need a camera for Zoom and FaceTime for meetings/work. To have the center stage is already a very full feature set for a built in monitor camera. In reality anyone who uses their camera for content creation can link their iPhone, and that would be Apple’s ideal solution for the average consumer. Anyone who needs more than that knows what they need. And the speakers are absolutely great for a monitor in general. Having a mic, camera, and decent speakers make the whole package way more appealing for someone trying to get the most from a Studio or Mac Mini. It’s not perfect but it’s definitely a niche in the market that Apple has gone for in the past.

I did not. Something I never recall wanting from the studio display. I don’t have any other usb c output devices. If Apple for some reason did a monitor with gaming specs then I would love to have an input switch so I can use my ps5 with the monitor. If they don’t I’ll probably never not use my primary Mac with it.

That’s true. The MacBook Pro redesign is supposed to get them. I’d hope Apple keeps pushing for bigger panels.

It’s perfectly reasonable not to mention a side loaded software when speaking about consumer gaming devices. Anyone can pick these up. The out of the box experience is paramount. Also yes I’m all over the place when it comes to systems. Sold my big gaming PC a little while ago and got a ps5 pro a couple weeks ago. Historically I was a big Xbox guy. Used to compete in Halo. The Xbox stick layout doesn’t work well with the ergonomics of the Ally because how your hand is placed. To be 100% honest I prefer the Xbox stick layout for comfort but the best ergonomics for that are an Xbox controller. Holding these tables your hands are straight up and thumbs are naturally at the top of both systems.

@@AndrewTaylorYT I have no idea what you're talking about when you say that the layout doesn't work well for the Ally. When your thumb is resting on the right stick and you move it to the face buttons, the buttons are perfectly positioned under the arc that the thumb makes when moving it to the right. Regarding Bazzite, you have a point about the OOB experience maybe for first-time gamers, but these "consoles" are playing PC games last I looked, and PC gamers learn early on to be more technically proficient in both hardware and software. Partitioning, installing OS'es and dual-booting is par for the course and Bazzite basically turns the Ally X and other windows-based handhelds into no-compromise gaming beasts. Your video would have been better served by adding " - for beginners" in the title.

I think the 2 black and white games got me in a similar way. As much as I adore diamond and pearl. The Unova region is home. Haven’t played a game that felt like home like those games did. I share the sentiment for Sinnoh though. Such a special place and such special games. Thanks so much for watching.🙂

I generally wait a couple weeks to update my Steam os. Decky works pretty quick to reoptimize everything for new updates. Waiting longer after updates drop is unfortunately the cost of adding mods to the operating system.

Apple is the ONLY company that sells a Tandem OLED display to consumers currently which doubles the brightness of general OLED displays. OLED burn in isn’t really a problem anymore. Was 7-8 years ago but we have pretty much figured out how to maintain OLED panels. The Tandem OLED idk about. Idk if they will have burn in. That’s new tech at least to consumers. But like you said Apple cares about their reputation. I doubt they would be putting out Tandem OLED without being incredibly confident. Just need it in Displays now :D Thanks so much for watching!

I don’t know about for less. This compares to professional level monitors. It’s not better but it’s comparable. Those monitors are thousands and thousands of dollars. This is a super premium consumer display. Pretty decently priced professional display.

@AndrewTaylorYT It's not a professional level monitor. That would mean, it could compete with professional color grading monitors. It can't. Not even the XDR. It doesn't compete with professional monitors, for photo editors or graphic designers. It doesn't even have an AdobeRGB setting for print. There are better options out there, and they don't have to be more expensive to beat the ASD. You overpay for the aluminium cabinet. You overpay for the speakers, and you overpay for the webcam. You overpay for the iPhone SOC inside. The monitor doesn't have hardware calibration, which is a must for professional photography and professional color grading. It also lacks SDI ports, for a setup in a color grading, color critical environment. Don't call it a professional level monitor.

It’s soooooo good. The only thing I kinda wish it had was a 10 GB Ethernet port for connecting to a NAS. I also wouldn’t mind if they moved some of the front I/O to the back. This thing is amazing though and makes my laptop feel like a desktop.

A person who is not tech savvy and has never had a gaming PC would be right at home on the steam deck. I’ve yet to have to grapple with limitations. These are also both second gen products. The next Ally also probably won’t deliver a console experience because it runs windows and windows can’t be designed to be that because Microsoft develops it and not ROG. Unless Microsoft makes a gaming handheld slice of their software to deliver a console version of windows it won’t happen.

Did I say it didn’t do HDR? The studio does do some HDR. It’s not much but it’s got an extra 200 nits.

I did a monitor called “the only monitor you need” a month or two ago. You should check that one out ESPECIALLY with Black Friday around the corner. QD OLED, USB C with power delivery, 240 hz refresh at 4K, HDMI 2.1. I don’t ever see the back of the monitor so I forgot what the vibe of the design was but from the front it’s pretty minimal. Super small chin with the branding.

I’ve messed around all over the audio midi utility and never could get them to play. In tandem or recognize them as different channels as you’d expect you could do. Found a guy on Reddit who made a plugin to be able to play both of them at the same time but it’s not great. Just louder.
