I traded mine, I'm a big guy at 6'4 255 lbs and it made me flinch every time I shot it. Of course my bear paw didn't make things any better holding that thing. Only reason for that tool is to play pranks on your buddies. Of course you'll have the typical guys out there who say they can plink with it like a 22, and I'll tell them they're full of s**t too.

Thanks for doing this test! I got the .50 AE Cyclops a few months ago, it is wild to shoot. From a chronograph test posted online it gets about 1250 fps with the 300 grain Hornady load. I personally shot the 300 grain Underwood XTP load and the 230 grain Underwood Xtreme hunter load through it. The 230’s had a lot of recoil, the 300’s were brutal to shoot.

The claimed velocity is is over 1400 fps from a large handgun (no S&W Model 29). Of course there are more powerful loads available in the 454 and 460 handguns.

I have a few of the bond arms derringers and about a dozen different caliber barrels so I like them. But when I heard a couple years ago they were gonna make a single shot 45-70 I thought it was a joke!?! They had stopped making the 44mag years ago so I didn’t really believe it! But they did…🤷‍♂️👌😳😅

This is all very interesting but you should have fired all 40 rounds to get a bigger sample size for the velocity testing ! Ouch ! Maybe next time test some saucy loads from Buffalo Bore and Cor-bon. Thanks for taking the pain for all your viewers !

Corbon might be okay but I really wouldn't suggest buffalo bore out of anything but a rifle made for it

In my 70s and shot 4 rounds of the Winchester out of my derringer with no gloves. OUCH !

Something I thought about when you mentioned it being like a hot 10mm.... Bond Arms makes a 6" barrel for their Derringers in 10mm. It would be interesting to see how 10mm does out of a 6" Derringer. Every time I look, the 10mm barrels are out of stock, though.

Bear defense. But you may want to see if the bear can be reasoned with before resorting to using it.

Let the bear give that thing a try first. He may just decide he's got better things to do than mess with someone who can wield it.
