Yes indeed, serious kinetic energy transfer. I have an upcoming video on Matt's Bullets 148gn HP that expand at standard 38spl velocity and unlike these that continued through the block the 148s don't tend to over penetrate so they dump all their energy into the target. Hope you'll check it out, thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I've been loading Matt's Bullets for years and have always been impressed. One of the few places you can get cast lead hollow points. They also offer loaded ammunition. I'll have more of these types of videos coming up. I hope you'll check them out .
You can usually get 1000 FPS out of a 4" .357 shooting lead 158 grain SWC loads put up in .38 Special cases. Alliant 2400 powder used to be highly recommended for hot .38 Spec loads. The old .38/44 factory loads typically were around 1100 FPS with 158 grain bullets in the days before .357 magnum. They were intended for the .38/44 large frame guns only back then.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Before I got a .38spl everything i loaded was shot through a 357 mag so loaded them all to max pressure according to the manuals. Now I'm loading 75%-80% of max because my 38 isn't rated for +P. That being said i have a video coming up on Matt's Bullets 148gn HP that mushrooms amazingly at standard 38 spl velocity. Hope you'll check it out.
Thanks for watching and commenting, I've been reloading for about 35 years. I started on an old RCBS single stage. I have a video coming up on Matt's Bullets 148gn HP that mushrooms impressively at standard 38spl velocity hope you'll check it out.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I've pulled enough bullets to now make a dummy for every load. More than once, I've loaded a few 100 rounds that didn't work, only to have to run them back through the press and seat the bullet just a fraction of an inch deeper 🙄
@antonelloromeo2118 it's a softer lead than most cast bullets but harder than the lead used for low velocity rounds like 38 special. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@APS_Inc thanks for watching and commenting. I agree. I've had those rounds for a long time, and there's no load data with them. But I'm pretty sure they're loaded to +P pressures. Cases didn't have any shiny spots or flattened primers also ejected easy.
Thats a manstopper, no doubt.

Matt’s looks like some great options for us handloaders. Thank you for your work on them!

I've been reloading for over 45years and it's rare to get 38special lswc-hl bullets to expand like that.😊papa

I came for the chrono test. I stayed for slo-mo!
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm glad you stayed for the slow-mo. That's actually my favorite part of the video to shoot.
Good test my friend good test 👍. The lead is soft or hard ? Sorry for my english

950 fps at 159gn sounds too hot for standard 38 spl?
