      Hey "Bell Grande" great job explaining the process! What questions would you ask the interviewers once "the tables were turned"? I'm not sure about the consulting world, but asking the interviewer good questions is key.
      Also, do you recommend your audience to perform mock casing with multiple people at once?
      Lastly, I'm sure you'll be due for a raise or even a promotion this year. Maybe consider including the negotiation process in one of your vids. Keep up the great content!

      Thank you so much for the nice words 😊 And that’s a great question! Lots of people at my firm (including my staffer, career advisor, and every manager I’ve worked with) know about my RUclips channel. I have not posted anything that I wouldn’t feel comfortable with them seeing, which I think is a good rule of thumb to go by (not that I would even if they didn’t know about my channel, but you know what I mean). In general, I don’t get TOO personal on here (that’s just not my style), so I think it will be fine for future employers as well 😊 and cheers from California (where I am right now!) I can see why you're successful in the business and consulting area. You're well spoken, thorough and have a strong confident presence. Hearing about the case interview and all these interrogation like scenarios in the interview process is just cringy. I've always been intrigued by business, completed my minor in business and even finished an interdisciplinary engineering management undergrad degree (masters in pure mechanical engineering though). The process for engineers can be daunting and extremely stressful with such as personality interviews through Gallup, homework-like tests during in-person interviews, and brainteaser type questions at some heavy-hitter companies. Interesting you mentioned superday interviews....Pratt & Whitney flew me out on-site a couple of times and called them superdays...I didn't realize that was a common title for on-site final interviews. The process of interviewing post-pandemic has been great though, often restrained to an HR screen and simple panel TEAMS calls for an hour or 2 max.

    You really managed to jam-pack a lot in a single video! 🤩👍👍💪 I second what you said about business vs STEM students - the latter are in increasing demand. To the 13-year old, you could at least have said that good GPAs (and hence: fundamental skills) at school will help later with any career the kid may wish to pursue 🙂 Did you in any of your videos "leak" which consulting firm you work for? 😉 Best wishes from an ex-McKinsey

    As someone who transitioned out of Industry and into consulting with a major international firm after two years, I can say that these tips are spot on. One thing I would really stress that was briefly mentioned by Taylor is brushing up on your mental math well in advance (2 weeks minimum) of your case interview. You'd be shocked how much your quick percentage skills deteriorate if you aren't using them regularly, even as someone coming from a math heavy industry.

I'd say just being all around a versatile, well rounded, bright, likeable, hardworking, team and result oriented... book, street and people smart person, who can also back it up with their resume or... somehow outside their resume. That's my take but I'd love to hear yours as well. Seems like an interesting thing to explore.

    Love your content. My question could be construed as a negative one but I assure you it's truly inquisitive. The term "management consultant" to someone outside that world, me, sounded like a more experienced role. Why would a company look to the advice of someone just out of school on how to run their business? I'm genuinely curious how the education process may differ to allow you to essentially tell someone how to run their business, and for them to seek you out to do so.

    Very interesting video once again, I've interned at an engineering consulting firm (aerospace R&D) and the interview process was interesting, there were some kind of group activities with something similar "case-study"-like but it was much much much more laid back than your case studies, it was more of a back-and-forth group brainstorming than something so in-depth that you prepare for at home. I didn't like my actual experience at the place even though on the surface i was involved in interesting projects and had nice teams because i felt underpaid and undercommunicated lol and that demotivated me which made me work less etc, but tbh it was just an internship and i haven't even graduated even though i'm your age.
    BTW on that note, some content that you could make that may be appreciated by the YT algorithm and that you touch on this video could be something like "Advice for my X year old self (14? 18? idk. 18+ probably better for adsense & CPMs i'd guess) as a Consultant" or something like that lmao. Doesn't concern me anymore but i'd still watch it lol. might get some hate tho considering the "why do ppl hire 23 year olds for consulting" response you've had, some ppl dont like young ppl giving advice even tho they're the ones that know what's like being interviewed by boomers and can talk about what's like lol
    I'd also like to ask if you've seen any coworkers or people from other companies that you know (or ex-classmates albeit unlikely considering ur ivy league) etc that were failures in life but got their shit together and are now working at environments like yours. I don't personally think I wanna go into consulting again but I don't wanna cross any paths and since you mention the "story" component is paid attention at fit-based questions maybe it's not as crazy as an idea as it may seem.
    Oh and like Isabel, I'm international too so if you could gather some insider info on when do companies like yours select internationals when they literally have ivy league right there at their feet i'd like to know about that. Not sure if these last two are video worthy but i see a lot of intls (esp. indians) in the comments so maybe this last one could make for an insightful video.

    Fantastic video, Taylor! It's great that in the U.S. GPA matters in hiring. In my country, no one cares, at least in my experience. I was a "straight A" student, so I don't like it.... lol ... No liberal arts graduates in consulting? lol ... well ... Have a wonderful day! Btw. Greetings to Biscuit as well! lol

    Do you think these subscribers are more interested in vlog/lifesytle or business/consulting content?

    May I ask roughly where was your GPA when you applied (don't answer if you do not want to, sorry if that's too personal), and is there any hope if I am a senior rn at NYU to get into consulting now that fall semester is over?

    • @TaylorBell
      @TaylorBell  2 года назад +2

      No that's ok! The only reason I haven't shared a hard GPA number in my vids is because I don't want people to benchmark their own GPA against it, but I'll say it was above the threshold that firms usually look for (~3.5 at most firms based on research/word of mouth). And it's definitely worth a shot! I'd each out to people you know at each firm and get an HR contact to email 😊
