@@Av-vd3wk am well acquainted. An accurate encapsulation of consulting’s most common criticisms- will speak my thoughts on that in my thorough pros and cons video 👍🏼
Man oh man, this hits home. I worked in big law firms for three years because that’s what my college environment taught me was best. It took me three years and two firms to realize that I hate practicing law. It’s daunting to think that you’re leaving the “prestigious” world behind, but I’ve slept so much better since I left. Thanks for making this video Taylor, I’ve been a silent listener for quite some time and absolutely love your content!!
Definitely agree with that! I stayed in law for 6.5 years. Over a decade of my life spent on law school, the bar, and my legal career. As soon as I walked out of the office on my last day, I felt instant relief.
As an 8th year lawyer... I've been wanting to jump ship since 1st year Uni...Before I boarded the ship. Here I am ...13 years later... still in law and struggling to stay motivated. What is it about law that sucks the life out of you and those people and things you love the most? 😢
I was in-house strategy consulting for a Fortune 50 healthcare company after grad school.. your comment on advising vs. doing really stands out as the reason that I left after a little over a year. In my case that "doing" was actually delivering healthcare on the micro level. I went to med school and I'm a resident anesthesiologist now, by far much happier and a much better fit for my personality; although there are so many things that I learned from my time in consulting that continue to benefit me on a day to day basis that I also wouldn't have changed it looking back. Looking forward to more content!
I'm glad this journey helped you sort through what you like and dislike about a job. I see lots of young people feeling cornered because they studied/got a degree in one industry but find out they are not passionate about it once starting fulltime work. It's never too late to pivot into another industry or career path
It's great to live in an age with this level of openness and transparency. Thank you for sharing your thought process in such a direct yet respectful manner, Taylor!
Hi Taylor, UPenn class of 2019 here. I actually also studied IR too. Now I work at a Big 4 firm. Everything that you shared here really resonates with me - it makes me just a little more comfortable and less in despair knowing there’s someone else in my shoes!
As someone who comes from humanities, has been going through a mid-life crisis and is *dying* to get into management consulting (out of MBB, I have my eyes set on BCG too), it’s really interesting to hear your experience. Thank you so much for being so open, insightful and just generally an incredibly brilliant person! So happy you’ve decided to follow your heart and work full time on your passion. Best of luck!!! I don't normally comment but what you said at the end about how you would not go back and change anything because it has given you the conviction today to pursue your new goals really resonated with me. I've moved about a bunch of corporate jobs in the last few years, not feeling satisfied, and have finally come to the realisation that medicine is the right path for me but I don't regret anything now from that corporate experience because it taught me what I truly value in a career. Congrats on your new journey Taylor! Currently in a consulting/research firm and as a creative person it drains my inner self so much, but I couldn't really put it into words for months. The honesty in this video is so rare. I followed your videos pretty much from day one and I am still enjoying it. I had a similar problem with my phd physics program. I just never liked as mush as I was dreaming of. I eventually left the program and followed my passion and started my own quant trading firm. I am like still 1% of regret of not finishing the program but I enjoy more of what I do today. Hope your youtube career continues to grow! I will certainly still follow you.
I’m not in consulting but I am extremely burnt out of my tech job as a software engineer in big tech. Literally, I’ve spent the last few weeks contemplating on resigning and pursuing something that I am passionate about - something that I would own / call mine. It’s very interesting to see someone in almost the exact shoes as myself. Very cool perspective!
Thank you for such an honest message about who you truly are (entrepreneur). I feel so often that nowadays our society ignores the true value of having a simple joy by doing what you love, no matter if this is widely accepted as something „prestige“ or „privileged“. So great to see one more person turning down a chance of having a corporate job for something that you feel truly passionate about ❤ I wish you all the best and will be tuning into your channel along the months to come! 🎉You go girl! 🙌🏻
I also think that you going into consulting was great! Your videos on it, especially this one, were really interesting. I think your background just makes you a much more interesting person to follow.
You inspired me, Taylor! I got my "dream job" as a marketing manager in corporate but was so unhappy and uninspired every day so I ended up quitting and pursuing entrepreneurship - life is too short to be wasted, just do your thing, and you will be successful and happy. I love seeing the confidence and passion in your eyes🥰
Taylor you inspire me so much to pursue my passions. I’m about to turn 25, and I’ve been laid off for the second time from my pre sales tech roles. I’m really unsure of what’s next for me, I’ve literally wanted to be a RUclipsr, a financial planner, a world traveler, a creator, and so much more. I love that you are so uniquely you. You are such a genuinely beautiful woman (side note I hope I find my Taylor someday lol) and you have inspired me to pursue those passions more. Really scared for what’s next for me, but trusting the process!
I loved the Suits reference on your main page and the "skin in the game" callback in this vlog, which was the perfect mix of detailed yet succinct, looking forward to seeing you move forward with your channel as a full-time creator. x ✨
Congrats on the big leap Taylor!! I can totally relate to a lot of these sentiments in my role at JPM.. I'm looking forward to continue cheering you on!
Congratulations on figuring things out and coming to a conclusion that satisfies what you want to do. I look forward to seeing the next phase in your RUclips journey.
I love what you shared about not regretting your corporate experiences because it helped you to gain conviction for following your current path. There are definitely times I find myself being self critical about being off “my path” in my younger years. But your wisdom is spot on… Sometimes we have to feel what “not right“ feels like in order to find what feels “right”. I studied biomedical engineering in college, worked in IT sales for four years after college, then spent time living abroad, some years floundering to find my way, and now at 39, I am finally transitioning into my passion, which is helping people heal from trauma through somatic experiencing and other bodywork. I always love the Steve Jobs quote that we can’t connect the dots looking forward, we can only connect them looking backwards.
You couldn't have put it across more accurately, Taylor! I felt the same thing about Consulting as I was approaching graduation - except that I got into another path down into the Corporates / Brands instead (and loving where I am today for the same exact reasons about being more "in the game"). Congrats on the new journey, your passion and self-awareness will take you where you need to be!
I think it's truely admirable to be honest about the influence of the top 3 prestige on your decision making. I've seen consultants get really warped expectations and understandings esp. as they grow later into the career and partly it's this idea of prestige and influence on large deals with companies. I'm excited to see your future videos, congratulations 👏. (oh, so smart plugging your Linkedin, genius move i haven't seen from many creators in YT)
We're in a similar spot. Working for consulting firms with (great) reputations for 2.5 years gives you an excellent foundation to fall back on. Starting in corporate likely gave you the structure you need to succeed in your business. You got it!
Agreed on the mismatch of consulting versus doing. Creativity is my number one value and it was never going to work for me. Though I did get to learn a lot about how business fail.
Thanks so much for the video! It's been hard putting into words why I knew I wouldn't get true fulfillment having a traditional career path. But when you mentioned consulting not "being your own" it all made sense. Been following your channel for a couple years now and you've definitely contributed to my creative inspiration. Can't wait to see where this journey takes you!
Very valuable input on consulting, I was going through the same thing as a fresh graduate, deciding to work for B&C or JP Morgan. I went for JPM and it was the best most challenging decision I've ever made. A lot of what I do has a much bigger tangible impact than it would ever do in consulting. Fun fact, many of the entrepreneurs I met that came to us told us they would never hire a consultant in a front office position for their business because of their inexperience with making decisions of consequence. That conversation was something that stayed with me ever since and made me glad of my decision. Consulting is a respectable field but definitely not for those that feed on tangible achievements. Best of success on your entrepreneurial journey!
Thanks for your honesty Taylor! It was great to hear about your career journey and how you’ve decided to pursue different route. As a person who is debating on switching the career field after working in one sector for 4 years, your story gave me courages to make bold decisions. Wish you all the best in your new chapter of your life! 🎉😊
I really admire your choice made all by yourself. I really do because I am currently not doing what I really want to do due to the family thing. Anyways, keep rooting for you Taylor. You are one of my idols. xx
I applaud your self awareness and thank you for sharing your thought process. That really helped put things into perspective as to why someone would leave consulting and why many continue down the path.
So relatable! That’s why I also started my own business while working as a consultant. I’ll work as a manager for a couple of years and then see how it will fit!
Hi Taylor. I totally understand those reasons in the second part of the video and I do share your preferences to be 100% involved in things you're doing, to make the impact, to influence the way things progress, to be responsible, to be the decision-maker, to actually do stuff, to get the results that ARE correlated with the amount of effort. It's a pleasure to watch your journey.
Our paths and interests are crazy similar. I found you when you were reselling because that was my job during my gap year between high school and college. I left reselling and entered the business major in college and got swept up in fancy big 4 business internships and was delighted to find you again. I have now pivoted from that high pressure environment into journalism and communications which is much more relaxed. So cool how our paths have paralleled so much!
This video made me happy. It's really nice to see that there are people out there NOT willing to be another cog in the machine and pursue what truly makes them happy. Good on you; also, a steady stream of business, lifestyle content from you would be great. When I allot time to watch RUclips videos a few evenings/week Your channel is among the first I hope to see new content from. Keep it coming.
Taylor, you give a very thoughtful and logical explanation of your reasoning process in making your decision to leave the management consulting world. Big kudos to you for just laying it all out there and ultimately making a decision that was really honest with yourself. Bottom line is "You just weren't happy". You seem to really be a person that is happiest carving out your own path. I don't think that you'll regret this at all for even 1 minute. Your bright smile says it all ! I hope this means more content being created and posted, right ?? 😊😉
This was an awesome video as a junior who'll soon be working at B4, aiming for MBB FT. These firms can be put on pedestals and it's awesome to hear a more balanced perspective and that you'll be following your passions!
Love this. Congrats on taking this step. Your reasons for staying, changing, and now leaving all make sense and it's great that you now have so much conviction in being a full-time creator.
Wow! Your journey spoke to me on so many different levels. I don’t even know how to express it. But I’m very excited to see you more on here!! I love your story telling and how your brains works ❤🎉
Wait, that thumbnail's from Hudson Yards.... Excited for your future (more frequent) videos Taylor, loved your journey so far, can't wait for more daily vlogs and more of NYC.
this is gonna sound all professional but i really really admire how intentional u are and how you're able to articulate your decision making. it's honestly goals
Thank you so much for sharing, Taylor!! So happy for you!! It’s so nice knowing I’m not alone - I’ve been going through a similar thing!!! All the best to you in the future - I know you’ve got this xx
You are a very smart, educated young lady. Very well-spoken, and you are a very well-thought-out communicator. Continue on the journey that fulfills you. It sounds like you have it pretty well figured out. Go for it!
I was always told taking the leap of faith is always the hardest thing. Now that you’ve done it, you can embrace what comes next. You’ve got this Taylor!! And as someone who’s worked for BBC TV here in the UK for over two decades, you have everything to be a success! Believe in yourself, even in the moments of doubt. Bravo! Enjoy what’s to come!! 🎉🎉🎉
I think this is the best outcome! You tried consulting at both firms and now you can put your all into RUclips with no regrets. Congrats on this exciting next step!
Brilliant video Taylor - your best yet. I can only imagine the direction my life might have taken had I watched this when I was in my early twenties. Every college senior should watch it and follow their passion. I admire you and your accomplishments so very much. Bonne chance!
I am so happy for you Taylor, you analyzed what you like and what you don't and you are working for something that would give you pure happiness. Since I absolutely love your content, script, editing and literally everything, I would love to see you more often now and learn so much from you. All the best for your new journey, well kinda but ya. 💗🥰
Congrats. You made the right choice to exit management consulting. Your passion and enthusiasm for being a creator are on display in this video. Keep up the excellent work!
This is so inspiring, I'm so happy for you Taylor :) I'm also in consulting and someone who is both analytical and creative, and I've been feeling the cognitive dissonance for a while now when it comes to delivering advisory and implementation work where I don't have 'skin in the game'. I also thought that eventually I would grow to find meaning and fulfilment if I focused on my craft rather than the client/industries themselves but the passion hasn't grown so I'm making changes soon. Your journey has been so inspiring and validating to how I'm feeling!
Starting this morning with Taylor giving us how life has been going and starting a new chapter 😊✌️🐢 happy Monday Taylor! ⭐️ Thank you for taking us on this incredible journey with you so far
Taylor, I am glad you put in the reselling days! I didn't realize you had blown up this much, congrats! I am just now getting back into youtube, you're right its just fun dude. I am happy to see you made the leap of faith to bet on yourself. 🍻
Appreciate your honesty and transparency in this video. I feel like your previous content was missing it or was based on some intrigue, now I relate to your story much more.
Thank you for telling us your journey and for being transparent, I also was able to land the first interview for my top MBB choice, but I didn’t make it. Ngl though I faced numerous rejections and didn’t feel fazed one bit, not making it because of my unfamiliarity and lack sufficient case practice (as a non-business major) for that situation and another interview with my favorite bank, I did feel down for a bit but I was so grateful that I made it that far, especially with the sheer competition in thousands of applicants. Even some months after the rejection from these 2 places, I still think of “what if” just as you touched upon in the video. I’m so glad you made your way to your passion and we the subs will continue to support you in your RUclips journey, cheers!
Taylor, the good thing about your experience working in consulting is that it helped you understand what you actually want to do with your life. Plus it gave you experience necessary to help you understand how businesses work on the inside so it should help you to succeed in your own business. So it’s a win win situation.
Great to hear about your journey. Same is happening with me now . I have been a nurse for 13 years and I finally quit the job to start commercial real estate and day trading .
Taylor Bell you are So close to 400K on your channel 1M is coming sooner than later thanks for sharing your incredible journey I love you cutie!💯⭐️🤩❤️❤️❤️
As a consultant myself, I’ve been following your journey for years - gaining insights and inspiration along the way. This video resonated with me. Looking forward to what’s next - thanks for being YOU! 🫶
I was SO excited when I heard you talk about being an entrepreneur. It's absolutely the best. I was looking for a channel to follow that had a female entrepreneur who is always learning, taking care of her team and her clients, and at the same time taking care of herself. After not finding exactly what I was looking for, and binging your content, I started my own channel and posted my first video a day ago! Your videos have been super inspiring and it's fun to see your journey. Bring on the entrepreneur content ;)
Taylor, great video! I love changing the trajectory of people’s lives as a divorce lawyer BUT I love making RUclips videos even more. I can relate to your love of the creative aspect of making videos. I only have a few thousand subscribers now, but the process is so much fun. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for sharing this. I am not part of one of your target audiences, but, as always, I am impressed with how you quickly and well you have reached your amazing level of maturity and self-knowledge, and how well you share your journey. Many people do not realize that having so many assets and so many possible rewarding paths to follow requires experience and wisdom, rarely achieved at your age. This video will be most helpful for your contemporaries who must make difficult life choices. I am also happy that you found no need to be cute and make funny faces in this video and, I hope, in future videos. They may have initially attracted me to your channel, but repeating that kind of humor can get stale. I expect you will be moving back to California soon. I expect there will be a conflict between being close to family and experiencing the stimulating environment of New York.
Appreciate that so much, and thank you for the kind words. Hahaha aw funny faces are here to stay, but yep this video was in the more serious side for sure. No plans to leave NYC any time soon 😊
I recall commenting when you stopped doing RUclips full time that you'd be back doing it at some point. That freedom is hard to pass up, but it's almost as hard to take that type of leap. Comfort is the enemy of growth!
It’s really awesome to realize your passion in life. It’s great that it happened before you found yourself one morning in your forties dreading/regretting going to work.
What a gift you have been given to know your path at such a young age. I realize your path can & will morph over time, but this is exciting nonetheless. Congratulations on having such a strong vision. You make awesome videos.
I have said the same exact thing to myself; I feel so incredibly lucky and don't take that for granted. Thank you so very much for the support and kind words Nancy, really appreciate it 😊
You will do really good starting a business channel or a start up. You are too smart to waste yourself in a grueling consulting job. But do remember that people like you because you are witty, smart, intelligent and not just another pretty face on youtube.
What a journey it's been. Can't tell you guys how excited I am for what's to come-- Thank you enough for being here. 🐢

You got it!
Mad respect for all dem honesty. You rock girl!
YAASSSS TAYLOR you’re gonna rock this next chapter ❤🔥
Best of success on your entrepreneurial journey!
taylor, you have been such an inspiration, and wish you all the best
You are something to listen to 😂 you just radiate confidence I love that
What an awesome story about how you've journeyed to find what you value most and how you align it in your career. Go Taylor!!
so great to see you being your authentic self !
Happy news! Love to hear your joining the full time squad ❤
Congrats, Taylor!!! Very big move in life, but I know you'll do great!
I’m beyond excited for you Taylor! Welcome back to the full time content world! You are going to kill the game even more than you already have! ❤
LINDSAY thanks so much my girl
I can’t say I’m shocked. Looking forward to seeing more of you and your adventures and thoughtful videos.
this is gonna sound all professional but i really really admire how intentional u are and how you're able to articulate your decision making. it's honestly goals
Congrats on taking the big leap Taylor!! Love the honestly and transparent. I am looking forward to the next step in your youtube journey!!
You are so talented and the way you convey information makes it so easy to follow and so engaging! I wish you continued success
I am so happy for you Taylor, you analyzed what you like and what you don't and you are working for something that would give you pure happiness. Since I absolutely love your content, script, editing and literally everything, I would love to see you more often now and learn so much from you. All the best for your new journey, well kinda but ya. 💗🥰
This is the only content on the website that makes me feel better after watching it. Taylor u rock and are living the dream.
Best wishes for this new chapter of your life ❤
Great to hear about your journey.
Same is happening with me now . I have been a nurse for 13 years and I finally quit the job to start commercial real estate and day trading .
What I love about this video -you don’t go wide, you go deep! Thanks for sharing! Good health to you.
Congrats! That’s so exciting that you’re making the full time jump into YT! 🎉
Taylor, great video! I love changing the trajectory of people’s lives as a divorce lawyer BUT I love making RUclips videos even more. I can relate to your love of the creative aspect of making videos. I only have a few thousand subscribers now, but the process is so much fun. Keep up the great work!
Super excited for the future of the channel! Wishing you all the best Taylor! ❤
Thank you so very much for the support and kind words Nancy, really appreciate it 😊
Congrats on the leap! Your "storytelling" skills are top notch...super excited to see what is in the future!
Congrats! The mix of educational and fun videos on this channel is perfect. Can't wait to see all the new content.
Another Taylor gonna rule this upcoming decade !! all the best
girl you are freaking amazing. very inspiring content. loved this video.
All the best , now you will live life being you.....Xcited too see future vlogs. Load of LUV
You will do really good starting a business channel or a start up. You are too smart to waste yourself in a grueling consulting job. But do remember that people like you because you are witty, smart, intelligent and not just another pretty face on youtube.
