Had the absolute pleasure in seeing Ashes of Ares perform their entire Album during a storm in Virginia Beach, VA. I was going to see them in Richmond, VA but noticed their venue double booked that night; I let them know on Facebook and they booked a venue right down the street from my house! There were only about 7 of us out there to see them (as it was storming and they changed venues less than a month before coming) and they still gave it their all! Matt Barlow took the time to come down and party with us a little after their set... Was the best experience of my life!!!! Matt Barlow to the grave!
Saw them tonight, They were awesome; Barlow is a vocal god.
Wow, glad to hear that!! Make sure to check out the links in the description to see where you can get your copy! ;)
i've been a fan of Barlow ever since i first heard him on the Days of Purgatory album.
MATT FUCKING BARLOW!!!
I'm really glad Matt didn't stop singing! Also check out Van Williams being awesome on drums!
Cheers!
The whole album is good
It's a shame the lyrics are so cheesy. But hey, that's the power metal way. Matt Barlow kicked ass at PPUSA 2013. Welcome back!
Mike Greenwalt Yeah, it's a very common disease in metal these days, but at this point I really don't care what he's singing, as long as he still sings!
WAIT Van Williams from Nevermore is playing drums with Matt fucking Barlow??
What a great voice!
Iced Earth has been one of my favorite bands, mainly due to Matt's influence. He kills that mic with his awesome vocals.
Such great music....singing....songwriting.....love it!
Ashes of Ares is just the best of both worlds for Matt. He can still make music and do tours, but only a few weeks every year so he can still see his family. I travelled across my whole country to see them and they didn't disappoint. After the gig I saw Matt outside, but I was late for my last train home, but I still talked to him for a few seconds, I'll never forget that. "Great show man!" "Thanks brother, cheers!" I wish I knew he was there, then I'd skip the last band to talk to him longer...
Going to see Ashes Of Ares on Jan 29 at Joes Grotto in Phoenix,Az gonna be awesome
Matt Barlow this is your calling brother! Superb job!
Wow, muy bueno!!
really awesome guys. Matt rules and the rest of the band is really rocking too
Simply great.
Please come to México, you're absolutely amazing!!!
I just came here for Barlow :P But drummer is pretty solid too.
Well...he played for Nevermore.Would you expect less ? :) Even though it's not close to even....don't know...40% this guy can do?And I believe same goes for the rest of this band. They will shine if they drop the cheesy lyrics. They will also write a lot better music to accompany the better lyrics and Matt's voice will use its full potential as well.Just a shoutout since this is the official NBR channel,in case they ever take notice in comments of their videos,to pass the word.Apparently I'm not the only one thinking this, and it's a shame cause they can do amazing stuff with that "manpower".
Van Williams drummed for Nevermore he's one of the best
Wow, I'm so stoked for this album.
Fantastic that Barlow did not unlearn to scream! So and not otherwise! The one and only Matt Barlow - great great great!
A lot of Iced Earth influence...definitely. I have been a fan since day one. Matt Barlow is absolutely one of the greatest metal vocalists of my lifetime. I'm definitely buying this album.
Can't stop listening to this masterpiece...
Love it.
I liked what I heard. Barlow is a fantastic singer, and one of the reasons I became one day a fan of his former band, Iced Earth. I have nothing to complain about the production of this song. I like how it came out. Heavy, melancholy ... a type of sound that fit like a glove in the voice of Matt Barlow. I'm still a fan of Iced Earth, but I am happy to now have another great band to listen: Ashes of Ares!
Saw them at Rock Hard Festival in Gelsenkirchen Germany .....awesome Band and awesome Songs ....Barlow is still the boss! Gonna buy the Album at first Day of release :-)
Wow, well said! \m/
Amazing! Mathew Barlow is best! Iced Earth Forever!
Come one guys, The best is Something wicked, though Iced earth is awesome in any aspect
I think Something Wicked is one of their best produced albums. But musically? I'm going with The Dark Saga
@@mattcommnet Days of Purgatory. Literally all the classics redone. Travel in Stygian is the greatest song Jon ever wrote.
I think I'd buy anything with Matt Barlow on it no matter what. However, I think this is one of the best productions I've heard come out of Morrisound. I'm SUPER excited for this album.
Well said indeed.
I'm a huge IE fan as well as a huge Matt Barlow fan and I'm really happy to have both bands to listen to. It's nice to have IE doing what they do best and it's nice to have Matt doing what he does best without being a copy of IE.
He chose his own path and it's a great one and I, for one, can't wait to hear the complete album.
Love this!
"On warrior's wings" blows this song out of the water and this song is pretty good! \m/
This is awesome.
Φωναρα ο Barlow πως παντα!!!!!!!!!! και τα μυαλα στα καγκελα!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE!
More of this please.
Awesome!!! didnt even know matt was still singing!
pretty good, will have to listen to more!
Best thing I've heard in a while...
WOW!! AWSOME!!
Barlow rocks!
freaking awesome!!
Please release this as a single soon!
Matthew Barlow respects and loves from Turkey 🇹🇷
Damn, Barlow still has the power in his pipes.
lol half the band is ex-iced earth. sounds almost like them. only difference is the frequency in sound somewhat. just my opinion. still amazing. (First Comment!!!!)
+Adam Linscomb It's Iced Earth but without Jon Schaffer
+Spiral jon schaffer IS iced earth
Iced Earth without Jon Schaffer would be like Motörhead without Lemmy or Black Sabbath without Tony Iommi
but barlow made iced earth music that you could listen to without it hurting your ears. Without him its just generic power metal with the typical girl singers; which i despise most power metal and i think most people do as well and largley cause the male singers trying to sound like girls. Specially these days now that they dont make intricate/different music. Hell even my last girlfriend made fun of power metal. Pretty bad when female sinto metal think music is too gay for them xD
awsome works
This is an interesting song that Iced Earth never made. Matt Barlow kills with his vocals. Great going!
I really dig it. Nice job guys! Hails from Nor Cal!!
This is a really good song.Music is fantastic, vocals killer and some strong lyrics.***** that's a 5 star rating...I noticed the tour you all have lined up,lookin good.I just want to say that all my Best Wishes are with you all..Anthony Clark.
Matt Barlow has a very unique and epic voice. got all his iced earth albums and the one he did with pyramaze!!
kick ass, que buena cancion
Sounds killer! it seems some people expected IE Part 2 but that's obviously not the case. Of course it sounds different and maybe not what they were expecting. That's the point. I'm really looking forward to this.
Yea I agree he was and will always be Iced Earth
I want to like this more then once!
I REALLY didn't want to listen to any full songs, but what the hell, I'm getting this anyway day one.
Better song than anything Iced Earth created since horror show and crucible of man
It's so freakin' amazing how he still got "THE" voice...
awsome
Well I'm happy for the news, they are awesome. I thought they didn't exist anymore because after Year of the Phoenix I totally lost track of them (even their official website is dead).
I prefer Matt over Stu in Iced Earth but Stu is amazing, he emulates Matt's sound so well in Dystopia and Plagues of Babylon, both high and low, they're both amazing
I really like Iced Earth's 2 latest albums with stu, more than most Iced Earth Albums, but I prefer over all, The Crucible of Man, Burnt Offerings and Something Wicked, the albums i listed in this post are the only ones I care about greatly
Poor Ashes of Ares, they're videos are full of people talking about Barlow and Iced Earth, hahaha
Love this fucking song! Bravo!
Wow another spectacular vocal performance by Matt. Fuckin excited for the CD in the fall!!!
There is something special about that heavy bass line
I do agree!
Not bad glad to see matt still singing
Μονο πονος και οδυνη το κομματι!!!!
endlich.. love it
Musically, sounds kind of similar to Dio's "Naked in the Rain".
sounds good
Out of curiosity, is this album coming out on Itunes, or will it be released on CD in American stores?
Matt is a badass singer \m/
I'm not stoked on the song mix/production but hot damn, Matt truly is on amazing form here. Consider me sold!
Are the T-Shirt bundles only for pre-order? I can't spend much money right now, but I do want to get the bundle!!! x'D
I like the groove it has! I'm looking forward to it!
Feelin' great 4 this album!!!! \m/
oh my god 2:24 that melody, and that Voice. BARLOW IS BACK
Muito foda velho...
you're right!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Matt Barlow is proof that a baritone can sing metal and kick fucking ass at it, too.
Nice Riffs... :D
I find it quite epic. Great lyrics, awesome voice line, great line as accompaniment, great rythm, different tunes, motives and phrases... Musically it's such a great song. Oh wait! It's a great song! Maybe you're boring.
Freddie also rulz!
Yep, and that's also the reason why Smedley and Vidales left the band... Iced Earth are ALWAYS on tour, band members don't have a single day for their own private life. No surprise Jon is not able to record 2 albums with the same band members.
love it! \m/
The "thumbs up/like" button on the upper left should do ;)
Hail Van Williams!
Damn good tune. Matt's superiors at the Police Department must be the most generous cops in the world, always giving him time off for his musical endeavors. Does anyone know if he is still a full time Officer, or is he on reserve duty w/in the Dept?
It doesn't surprise me that there's alot of Iced Earth Influence given that two of the band members are ex Iced Earth members. I like it. It's good to hear Barlow behind the mic again \m/
Stop comparing singers ... please. It is not science it is art. Stop categorizing and stop labeling. Just enjoy or leave. Thank you.
Epic song btw!
Matt....
Now matter where the fk you go... I will be there.
as a massive iced earth fan, this is epic
guitars could be fucking blue grass banjos and the drums played on pots and pans for all i care... this album features Matt Barlow's vocals. All I want, all I need. I mean that whole Pyramaze album was so so at best, Matt lifted it to something i still listen to today.
First 30 seconds I'm like "Yup I am gonna definitely buy this when it comes out."
By the end of it it changed to "GIMME GIMME GIMME"
My guess is this won't be a touring band. There's a big difference between recording music in a studio and going out on tour for half of the year.
No need to miss him. We know have 2 "Iced Earths" to enjoy.
Stu block does him some pretty good justice.
I almost didn't notice at first that it was a different singer in Dystopia.
Great song! I miss Matt in Iced Earth....:(
Will this be available on iTunes?
FCKING AWESOME ! \m/
