I think the reason Mayuri wasn't included in the special war threat is because he doesn't care. The other each have a reason to stop the Quincy. Urahara for the sake of the world, Ichigo to protect his friends, kenpachi to have a good fight, aizen because they have similar goal, and... Who's the last one again? Ichibe? I don't remember. Anyway, Mayuri just doesn't care, as long as he found something interesting he doesn't care who's the winner
5:41 I do not think Aizen was lying when he said that enough reiatsu can cancel out abilities. There are multiple reasons why, so forgive me if this comment becomes an essay. Here are my reasons: 1). It is established in the fight between Ichigo and Kenpachi that if you lack the “power” and “intent” to defeat your opponent, not only will the opponent not take damage, but you will take damage when hitting them. We see this demonstrated when Ichigo hits Kenpachi, and Ichigo takes the damage. Ichigo only starts wounding Kenpachi after he is powered up by Zangetsu and his resolve. 2). Momo was actually not switched with Aizen when Aizen made that statement. If the two were switched at that point, then Momo would’ve been killed by Soi Fon’s ability. Ichigo would have also noticed the trick earlier than he did if that were the case. This reinforced that Aizen did not switch with Momo until the very last moment. 3). In your example of Shuhei Hisagi wounding Tosen, this does not disprove Aizen’s statement. Aizen said that the gap between the two would have to be immense for the cancellation to occur. While Tosen is very powerful at that moment, the gap between him and Hisagi is not nearly as massive as the gap between Soi fon and Aizen. It’s also worth noting by Shuhei’s own admission that if Tosen was not blinded (haha) by this new power, Shuhei would not have been able to land the hit, let alone do damage. It’s safe to say that attacks become much stronger when the opponent has their guard down, this is also why Gin was able to do damage to an Evolved Aizen. 4). I do not think this goes against the “idea vs idea” nature of bleach fights as you say, in fact I think this only enhances it. It’s a very Nietszchean idea; that some people are born with a higher, more powerful “will” than others and become something much greater; Aizen himself is representative of this ideology so it makes sense that he would be the one to explain it.
To add to this: right up until Toshiro was about to stab him we see Aizen think to himself; the only time in that battle we see him do that. If there was any moment in that battle where Aizen's presence can be confirmed, it's that one.

It is unfortunately not confirmed and could go both ways. I do have answers to most points, but none would be irrefutable. I think saying reiatsu cancelling exists is also valid. :)

Chad isn’t referring to their shrifts but their power itself. Also you might not have noticed but this episode, like the manga it’s based on, canonized the first bleach movie. From next episode on it should be pure action till the finale!

Yea, while I think having more riatsu would plays a role in fights, I don't believe it's merely about that. The soul reapers basically seek to manipulate their riatsu against their opponent; concentrate it and honing it against them, while in general trying throw off their opponent and create openings in their riatsu (as like the really bare bones way of putting it -- their normal physical attacks, their abilities; their whole zanpakuto system), and have it so they won't know how, or be ready, to protect themselves as they should, essentially, and capitalize on that -- So it's still a battle between spiritual pressures, especially on the part of Soul Reapers, but not in the boring, hyper power scaled sense... while of course having more spiritual pressure, especially significantly more, is still important; being fundamentally more powerful than the opponent in some way is important, and a good basis for facilitating all that (over powering the opponent, defending against hax). I'm reminded of when Stan Lee addressed the point about characters' power scaling and basically the question of, "Who would win in a fight," and his answer was basically, "Whoever the writer wants to win," and basically made a point on getting caught up in power scaling like that being silly.
Hollows/Arrancars grow stronger just by existing. Which is why most of them never 'trained'. So training for Hollows/Arrancars would be insane amounts of power boosting. At least from what I remember. It has been a long time since I read the manga/ watched the older anime. Meaning Grimmjow, Nel and Tia should be waay more powerful than they were in the Arrancar Arc/ Fake town arc.
Without getting into spoilers for the people who didnt read the manga (I know he read the manga years ago).... Grimmjow gets a feat in the upcoming battles that would HAVE to place him above the Arrancar Arc. How much? Unclear.
@storieswithstyle did you read the Cant Fear Tour Own World novels? (Three canon novels set after the manga ended). Hisagi is the main character and is fairly strong there (using his bankai). That Hisagi (not long after TYBW) would beat or hang with Tosen's Resurrection. Point taken about his fight in the Arrancar Saga, though.
The Reiatsu negation only works if the difference is too overwhelming, like starting Hōgyoku Aizen vs Soi fon (used bankai 2 times in one day and constantly using shunko)
I like your take about the fights being which idea is better. I always did think of the fight between Mayuri and Sayel sort of like that as Mayuri has some of my most favourite lines in that fight. And I don't think he was included in the special threats because Yuha doesn't quite value creativity enough, and that just happens to be Mayuri's greatest strength. Also about Soi Fon, my personal theory is that she's gonna get some interaction with Yoruichi, and the last couple of episodes have showcased serious character growth for Soi Fon. Foreshadowing for Yoruichi character growth that Soi Fon contributes to in some way? :)
i believe in CFYOW, Grimmjow, Nel, and Halibel are said to all be about equal now, with Halibel edging the other two out by a bit. Kenpachi tells Grimmjow that he's about as strong as Noitora was, so Grimmjow got a little stronger and Noitora caught up to Nel in the time she was gone.
maybe grimmjow has gotten a secunda etapa in the meantime? Cant imagine him spending his time any other way than fighting and getting stronger (he is not as calm as the 2 ladys). I would consider him possibly being stronger than nnoitra rn. Otherwise hollow fraction would be nothing but fodder compared to the other factions. @@DuBstep115 i think the espada would still be plenty formidable to the sternritter. the sternritter are captain level, just like most of the espada were. now, "captain level" is pretty nebulous, since it ranges from Hitsugaya/Soi Fon up to Yamamoto, but i never got the impression somebody like, say, As Nodt or Candace were particularly stronger in terms of general power than an espada like Noitora or Grimmjow. they just have hyper-specialized abilities, like The Fear, which can be troublesome. i could easily see Noitora showing up with the same three dead sternritter on his shoulder that Kenpachi had.

There's not much definitive proof but we do see him shock people like Ginjo (without bankai) with his power

Sorry to be that guy, but I think youre off about the yukio having a psp because its release was around the same time as the manga. Tybw manga was about 2012 or 2013 i believe. Psp release was back in 2005 for americas bit earlier for japan. So it doesnt even quite line you with the fullbringer manga release either. If I had to guess, maybe it’s just kubos style to always be like a generation of technology behind, Like how the captains have flip phones maybe? Anyway, not trying to be rude, I was just curious if the dates lined up when you mentioned it. But it definitely looks exactly like a psp from the back, I spent many hours on mine :)

I always assumed it was a cross of the OG PSP and the Vita. Front look more like a Vita but the circle on the back is for sure from the PSP.
