It sounds like something someone would say for a joke, but I've genuinely wanted this for years... Years. Just once would I like to see him waddle up to a bar stool, take 4 minutes crawling up to the top and call the bartender "Bub".
Razzy1312 very true, the opening montage at the beginning of Origins should have been stretched out into a feature length film, it would have been great.
Somebody else probably already hit on this, but the reason wolverine fights up on that rim of what appears to be a cooling tower, is precisely because that version of Deadpool is teleporting around. On the ground in an open area, wolverine would have to worry about being attacked from all 360 degrees around him in a circle. Since Deadpool only seems to be able to teleport above solid ground, by moving the fight to the rim wolverine's lowered the amount of area he has to worry about. He's basically turned a 3D fight like Battle Arena Toshinden into a 2D fight like Street Fighter II.
Yeah, it really doesn't work because it just gives Wolverine less places to go and more chances to fall a great height while giving laser eyes a better chance to shoot him with laser eyes.
My wife and I have been trying to put a finger on exactly what it is. Is it the hair? The beard? Did he lose some weight in his face? Did he do something to his teeth? Whatever it is it worked for him.
The problem with Wolverine is the plot made perfect sense and for some reason instead of just having the old man take some of Wolverine's cells to heal himself and use his katana skills to fight Wolverine, they needed a giant robot.
That would make sense and stay straightforward but someone was convinced that a movie with Wolverine in Japan automatically necessitates putting Silver Samurai in it even though it's not Silver Samurai anyway.
I disagree on X Men kicking off the "new wave" super hero genre. People forget about Blade(which IS a Marvel property). In my opinion, that was the first well put together live action Marvel property.
Joel Farrelly Yeah! Milwaukee is just the Red Letter Media version of Gotham, not a real place. What I really like is how they invented the accent, good world building!
'Fuck this I'm going home" is not even close to what Wolverine would have done in that situation. Wolverine, as a character, never walks away from a young, cute girl in need. In the first movie he felt protective over runaway Rogue despite owing her absolutely nothing and knowing her for less than a minute. In the comics he's fiercely protective of Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, Hisako and pretty much any teenaged through young adult woman who crosses his path. It's almost a running joke in comics that Wolverine is a major sucker for a girl with a problem.
Rosscifer He kills 20 Yakusa that are trying to kill the daughter of an old friend, whose dad only died like 2 days ago. It's really not that hard to follow his motivations (up to that point at least.)
I know this was YEARS ago but the old man can't put adamantium on his bones because that would kill him. It only worked on Wolverine because of his healing. It constantly fucks him up and he constantly gets over it. The reason he uses adamantium is because it's the strongest thing to make a suit out of and therefore clearly the best choice.
OK good someone talking about this do I don't have to make a new 2021 comment (showing what a loser I am for watching 10 year old RLMs on a Saturday night, and I'm not even an incel). Anyway, I also wanted to address Mike not understanding what the Adamantium "Suit that looks like a Samurai" was about; idk what comic this is apparently (??) inspired by (I'd love to know), but there is an X-Men character in the comics and extended media called SILVER SAMURAI, and he's existed for a long damn time. This was clearly not how he was portrayed in the comics, and they shoehorned him into this film for the reasons you just said. Additionally, I remember 2013 as a relatively chill period as far as angry Twitter mobs ripping movies apart; or RUclips channels getting as much attention as they do now). Studios could get away with "MEMBER BERRIES" in comicbook movies, and no one really gave a shit. Like Jay has said, the Force Awakens and other subsequent formulaic reboots (Ghostbusters Afterlife / 2016, X-Men Dark Phoenix) really started the whole "APPALLED MAN CHILDREN SENDING DEATH THREATS" bullshit. At least I don't remember it happening until closer to 2016. That'd be a fun documentary; "Major Blockbuster Reboots & How They Were Received," because shit like Total Recall got basically no response from anyone except "MEH" when it came out. If they tried that NOW, people would be freaking the hell out online, I guarantee it. Same with ROBOCOP!!

My favorite scene in Xmen origins wolverine is when Logan is running through the corridor with all the cells and is slashing open the locks in a slow motion run, not because it looks cool it looks awful in fact. But I like to imagine that I'm one of the people in the cells and this guy just runs through screaming at the top of his lungs through the hall in front of my cell slashing up the locks.....that to me is hilarious
The Wolverine character is a protective and 'nice guy' he just comes off as a loner douche bag cause he avoids other people so he won't have to worry about losing them.
Logan is a film that happens to have a character who is also Wolverine.. but I’d personally say it’s a stretch calling it a Wolverine movie. I grew up watching 5 of those movies and even continued watching them after the overall disappointing x3 and origins. Logan’s a great film and you could have called him Joe and given him knife hands instead, and it would still be great.. I don’t think one could say the same thing about the others. You may or may not enjoy them, and it’s all opinion.. it’s just hard to imagine someone who appreciates cinema would look at the first 5 Wolverine films and say “these are great as films and you could take X-men and Wolverine out and replace the characters with legally distinct versions and they are just as great.” I just don’t buy that concept.
@@nubworthycigars6682 making the main Wolverine adds a lot of depth to the character. It wouldn’t be the same if was some guy named Joe. Wolverine probably has one of the best back stories in comic book history.

It was merely okay. The bar was very low after X-Men 3 and the first Wolverine flick. Like someone commented above, Magneto and Xavier were the saving graces.
First Class is my favorite X-Men movie by far because it acts as an origin story for Magneto and depicts him as an absolute badass! And the music (especially Magneto's theme) in it is quite sublime!
Professor Xavier being alive was actually explained in the post-credits scene of one of the X-Men movies (3 I think?). Anyway, the film briefly shows him talking about the ethics of treating a brain-dead man somewhere in the middle. After the credits it shows that he's transferred his mind into that man's body, which makes some sense, given his powers. I'm amazed by how many people seem to have no idea that this scene exists.
I thought the later part of the movie was where it started to loose me. I remember thinking "Please go back to where you were a caveman fighting bear killers in bars." I found that much more entertaining.

Days of Future Past was a terrible movie from a plot standpoint, so many plotholes. I feel the First Class trilogy should have just been a complete reboot, ignoring anything and everything from the movies before it.
Totally agree with Mike. The Wolverine was utterly lacking in any motivation for the character and so completely boring after the first act. The only plot points were the long awaited reveals of information about who was doing what and why, which is an incredibly undramatic way to sustain the bulk of a film. You just spend your time wondering why you should care about anything that anyone is doing. Origins, as crappy as it was, at least attempted to create a character arc you could empathise with.
greyztone The Wolverine is way better than Origins. Logan is haunted by his actions and he kinda wants to die. He finds his purpose by helping people who need his help

I'm wondering if the voice from that glowing A+ review they intermittently splice in is from the same guy who HATED the fact that Parasite won best picture and best foreign picture in the same year? His voice has a certain affect that makes me lean towards yes.
I saw this movie, and I literally remember nothing about it. I mean I didn't like either movie all too much, but I guess I prefer the silver samurai one? Even though I didn't like it?
Worst CGI of the X-men origins Wolverine was the parts where everything was grey and 3D models flying around without animation nor textures. Yeah, many people watched that pirated version. Idk, leak maybe? Intentional assholeness against pirates? Who knows. Edit: ahahha they mention Boba Fett movie!
It was a work print that someone leaked to the Internet and Fox actually got the FBI on the case which ended with someone's arrest. For whatever reason, Fox was convinced that the leaked WP was why the movie bombed at the box office and not the fact that it was embarrassingly bad.
In the Fatal Attractions storyline (about 20 years ago) Magneto definitely had power over adamantium, especially since he ripped all of it out of Wolverine's body at the conclusion. However, the "rules" may have changed since that time.
Mr.VIPGuest Which doesn't really matter, because this wasn't a movie about Deadpool, he's only in it for a few minutes and he gets his mouth back at the end.
One major plot hole i never understood is how wolverine remembers who Yashida is when he meets him before hes shot in the head in X men origins and gets amnesia? Wouldnt he be like who the fuck is Yashida?
The most offensive part about the claw scene in Origins is the fact that I could buy a pair of prop claws from fucking Amazon for thirty bucks and make an infinitely more realistic looking rendition of that scene.
Man.. I wish The Wolverine could be redone with how James Mangold would truly want it. After seeing Logan, he's got a great interpretation of the character, and it did show in The Wolverine, but I'm sure he was chained down by the studio to have to do specific things that made it not quite as great as what it could've been. I really like it, it's just not quite perfect. Like what Logan damn near is

I actually spent a good chunk of my childhood at the Ann Arbor district library!!
GO GREEN!!! lol
Theodore Miller, oh my god.....
That critic who liked Xmen Origins is Chris Bores "The Cutrate Gamer". I recognize the voice.
10 years ago holy shit
Lol what's with the irategamer quote?
*****
Yes, these guys are hilarious and awesome.
P.S. really big fan of your reviews. Much like with Half in the Bag, after discovering you I spent a night binging all your reviews.
i knew it was his voice too.
everywhere i go i see gggman
Father? It's me, your sonny jim.
I give this Half in the Bag an A+!
It’s weird to think the only thing that changed over the years is Mike got old. *OLD*
Hilarious opener! Awesome show, great job!
The suit used as opposed to having adiantum grafted onto his bones because the old Japanese man can not heal so he would not recover from the surgery.
but didn't he want Wolverine's power? He could heal after he got his power
and now they're making an actual Boba fett movie
Hopefully it'll be a Mr. Magoo/Inspector Gadget-esque comedy.
its cancelled because it was a bad idea to begin with. As is any character focused spin off
We’re in a different world now.
.... aaaaaand it’s a show now.
I'm wondering if the voice from that glowing A+ review they intermittently splice in is from the same guy who HATED the fact that Parasite won best picture and best foreign picture in the same year? His voice has a certain affect that makes me lean towards yes.
It sounds like The Irate Gamer
It is most certainly good ol' Chris Bores, aka The Irate Gamer. Whether he was upset about Parasite winning best picture though I have no idea
wolverines speech about how he made a vow never to kill another man is straight from a key and peele parody
Lmao Mike pretty much describing wanting to see The Batman at the end - flash forward 10 years refuses to review it. 😅
I already watched it once but I guess I'll watch it again on RUclips.
The hard R rating would have improved The Wolverine immensely
I love you guys so much. Keep on making these.
It’s so funny Mike said the plot to the Batman years ago and what he wanted to see, and now refuses to watch it
Holy shit mike predicted the Star Wars bit in Apocalypse. Jesus christ
I saw this movie, and I literally remember nothing about it. I mean I didn't like either movie all too much, but I guess I prefer the silver samurai one? Even though I didn't like it?
Jay trying to not crack up at the opening is great 😂
Worst CGI of the X-men origins Wolverine was the parts where everything was grey and 3D models flying around without animation nor textures.
Yeah, many people watched that pirated version. Idk, leak maybe? Intentional assholeness against pirates? Who knows.
Edit: ahahha they mention Boba Fett movie!
Lmao I had the bootleg cd 😂😂
It was a work print that someone leaked to the Internet and Fox actually got the FBI on the case which ended with someone's arrest. For whatever reason, Fox was convinced that the leaked WP was why the movie bombed at the box office and not the fact that it was embarrassingly bad.
Check out Deadpool 3, no Wolverine at all. Promise
If left jay got a bit fatter and balder I think he would look a bit like tony soprano
My name is Anne Harbour, stay away from my library!
got this in my recommendation and was kinda surprised that theyre reviewing the new movie, turns out its from 10 years ago lol
same for me... what the fuck? get to work you hackfrauds and make some fun reviews!
Why is it surprising? They did a half in the bag on it
Yes! X-Men 2 was the best! It's the only one I can stand watching. Glad to hear them agree.
That Boba Fett prediction checks out...
In the Fatal Attractions storyline (about 20 years ago) Magneto definitely had power over adamantium, especially since he ripped all of it out of Wolverine's body at the conclusion.
However, the "rules" may have changed since that time.
Colin from Canada did the special effects for X-men origins wolverine....
From this point on, Jay has been a gigachad heartthrob for faaaaaar longer than anyone his gremlin/Amish phase.
They made an Irate Gamer reference. How have I not seen this before?
"Its like a Boba Fett movie"
oh boy, we will soon see that!
or not
It’s a show, baby!
5x the Boba!!!
They fucked up the Deadpool character :(
I know right I hoped these guys would at least mention it
Gaming with Mikey! How? He was mind controlled.
Dagenspear They fucked him up by turning Deadpool into a Merc without a mouth.
Mr.VIPGuest Which doesn't really matter, because this wasn't a movie about Deadpool, he's only in it for a few minutes and he gets his mouth back at the end.
Dagenspear What? Even if it doesn't about him, it doesn't change the fact that they fucked up his character.
"I don't need to see anymore Wolverine movies."
Oh boy, how wrong he was.
Hell yea forget about Adamantium......its all bout Adamantium-vibranium alloy bub!!!
Nice of RLM to reference the titan of movie reviews, Mr Bores.
One major plot hole i never understood is how wolverine remembers who Yashida is when he meets him before hes shot in the head in X men origins and gets amnesia? Wouldnt he be like who the fuck is Yashida?
Yes.
Thank you rlm for comforting me at my lowest
Blacks out, drives to Ann Arbor and steals x men origins ? Legend
The most offensive part about the claw scene in Origins is the fact that I could buy a pair of prop claws from fucking Amazon for thirty bucks and make an infinitely more realistic looking rendition of that scene.
Lesson = Hugh Jackman is really good at being the wolverine
I always thought him chopping the ladder was a throwback to the cartoon from the 90's. Wolverine does shit like that ALOT in that cartoon.
Thought the exact same thing.
Like what Logan damn near is
The first and second X-Men movies were written by David Hayter.
Wow, I genuinely never heard about this second wolverine film
I gave up on the Xmen movies after Origins....that "Deadpool incident" was just unforgivable.
Wow Mike looks so young... The years and kgs have not been kind. he goes from 29 to 40 in 4 years.
Wait till you see him get shatnered.
So funny seeing this after Logan, there was no reason to be so optimistic about that movie, but it was amazing.
