You know something? I think you should be awarded the best instructor on RUclips. I've watched videos on circle skirts and your videos has simplified everything for me. You've helped me boost my confedence without cutting out wow! Thank you so much, I love you already😢
I am saving your video to my sewing playlist! I've watched more skirt making tutorials than I can count, and I am very impressed with how simple to follow yours is. Thank you for this tutorial :)
Thank you so much for this video. Like others have commented, I have looked at so many videos. Your video was the clearest one from beginning to end. I was able to finish making my ver first circle skirt.
Hello there, thank you for watching, the difference is the amount of flare you want your skirt to have(how wide you want it to be at the bottom)... quarter has a small flare, half medium flare and so on....so there's a formula for each flare
If I made the opening just the size of my waist, then I could not pull it up over my butt. I think we measure it to waist size only when we put a zipper into the skirt. I’ve seen other videos that say for an elastic waistband you need to make the opening according to your HIP size. Us chubbies do, anyways.thankyou for the calm video, anyways. Your skirt is lovely and so are you.
Thank you so much, that was easy, wanted to know the size of the lastic band. If I want to put zip instead of elastic which size of zip is suited ? Thanks sisi
Thank you for watching, the elastic length is your original waist measurement where you just put the tape measure around your waist and got your measurement or you can just put the elastic around your your waist and cut it where it feels comfortable for you. The width of the elastic I used is 3.5cm I think 20cm zipper will be good for the skirt❤️
So if you wanted to have pickets could you do it in two equal lanes, seams on either hip, to put a pocket in there? My daughter always wants pockets in things!
I wanted to see how you stitched the second part of the band just before you attach the elastic. You came back and said waistband is finally attached but did not record how you sewed it. That would be great addition for DIY.
Hi there, elastic should be your actual waist measurement, you can even put elastic around your waist and cut it where it feels comfortable to you... But remember to make the skirt waist bigger than the actual waist to allow the elastic to stretch.
If you take your waist measurement on your lower waist/around your hip bone, your skirt waist will be big enough to allow for the movement of taking it off. But if you are planning to install a zipper you won't need those extra centimeters/inches
Hello there Nonele, ewe wenza ngoluhlobo but kubekho ke that extra wrapping layer.... ndinayo iwrap dress endiyenzileyo if you can scroll up uzakuyibona the red one maybe ingakunika some idea.
Check kwalapha on my channel the blue dress titled " DIY flare dress with pockets" to see how I made it long using three cats fabric. I used a quarter circle skirt but you can do it with a half circle skirt.

@@NomondeMketshane so was the measurements you used was for the hips and not the waist?
@@pat2454 I used the waist measurement but I usually add few centimetres if I am making elastic waist but I forgot to mention that on the video.

Yes I would just open the other side and have two side seams instead of having one back seam
How would you add a liner to this type of skirt?
I would make a simple A-line skirt, attach it on the waist of the main skirt then attach the waist bend.
Thank you soo much Monde🙌❤
If it is on elastic, don't you need to take hip measurements instead of waist? How will the fabric get over the hips to put it on?
You are correct, there's a pinned comment regarding this.
I wanted to see how you stitched the second part of the band just before you attach the elastic. You came back and said waistband is finally attached but did not record how you sewed it. That would be great addition for DIY.
How did you divide your waist measurements
Hi there, waist measurement divided by 3.14
How to calculate radius
How did you come up with tha 3.14
@@nolusandagcwabe6893 It is the value of pi
can you say if this fabric 45 inches or 60 inches
It is 60 inches (150 cm)
Thank you very much
how long should the elastic be?
Hi there, elastic should be your actual waist measurement, you can even put elastic around your waist and cut it where it feels comfortable to you... But remember to make the skirt waist bigger than the actual waist to allow the elastic to stretch.
So when you take it off it is not hard to get off? Is that a knit fabric or cotton?
If you take your waist measurement on your lower waist/around your hip bone, your skirt waist will be big enough to allow for the movement of taking it off. But if you are planning to install a zipper you won't need those extra centimeters/inches

@@NomondeMketshane ok enkosi sisi
I think the skirt wouldn't pass over my hips. Should I add some centimeters to my waist measurements and then divide by π ???
Yes please or just measure around your hip bone so that you can have elastic allowance
@@NomondeMketshane thank you so much dear!
