Love this pattern and tutorial. I have a check I want to make into a 1/2 circle and didn't fancy trying to match on multiple seams, so the one panel method looks perfect! Can someone please explain, I don't understand why you don't need to add SA to the radius measurement how is there enough space to add the zip? TIA
You are cutting out your waist measurement and then stitching half an inch away from the cut line. That increases the diameter of the circle and gives you enough seam allowance. Hope that helps.
I too was going to comment on how pleasant her voice sounds, which along with the detailed demonstration for such a classic and practical garment, makes this a perfect video.
As a teacher, with a degree in textiles and garment construction, I can say that you are the teacher I always dreamed I was. Absolutely charming as well as being extremely clear, precise and informative! I subscribed!
Just wanted to say I admire your thoroughness! Most online tutorials would never do basting stitches, hand stitches, and making the hem even (and the liner!) after allowing the skirt to hang for a few days. Super impressed! I'm new to sewing but I wish all videos taught and incorporate best practices like you.
Your comment is so thoughtful and means a lot to me. I always want to provide thorough explanations and teach techniques that make the garment of highest quality. A video like this takes extra time to make but it is worth it to me when it serves you well. Thank you for taking the time to tell me.
this must be the most complete tutorial I've ever seen... Just plain honest about parts being hand-sewn instead of doing it as quick as possible on the machine and a lot of tips to make it all look nice in the end. Thank you!
This is your first video I watched and I’m blown away how meticulous you made this video. It is so easy to understand. Detailed. Well described. Thank you. I subscribed.
Totally agreed. It's my first video too regarding half circle skirt and I will follow all the other videos because I resonate with this kind of presentation and details. Love it.
I liked your attention to detail. I just don't understand why many You tubers have background music that I must try and block out while listening to instructions. I'll subscribe and follow more of your videos.
Okay. I don't know if you will see this, but I have to type it. This was absolutely the best tutorial on sewing anything I have seen on RUclips. I am in the very beginning of sewing, literally learning all of the basic stitches but watch dress/skirt tutorials because that is my goal. Not one has ever mentioned letting the fabric hang (I've seen that and thought it was for show) or using pi to determine waist measurement. I think I heard one person mention washing fabric before working with it. And getting on the floor actually showing, forget about it. This was precise and wonderfully demonstrated. I can actually follow this and not get lost in the fabric. You're a great teacher. Thank you sooo much, and you're the one I subscribed to. Again, thanks.
Love your skirt ! It is a great video , good clear instructions and easy to follow . I was able to zoom in on the zipper part which was very helpful. Thank you
This is one of the best tutorials I’ve ever come across, everything is explained with great detail and you reply to all questions in an understanding and helpful way. Definitely subscribing :)
I'm about to finish making 2 skirts using this tutorial and I have to say I am so thankful for your videos Paige! You are so thorough and don't rush things just to finish quickly, which is the way I like to sew as well 😊 I learned so many things from following this video and I had never installed a zipper before so it was the perfect learning opportunity! I'm still new to sewing so if you're a beginner and you're not sure about making a skirt with this video, I encourage you to try! If I can do it, you can do it too 💗
I've made two skirts using this video, it's one of the best tutorials I have seen. It's the first time that my zippers don't look terrible, haha. Thank you so much!
Absolutely amazed at the thorough way you explain everything! I'm 71 and I am fortunate to have an old school skirt hemmer stand, but there aren't many of those left anymore. Nice tutorial young lady, subbed. 🙂
I have food in hand impatient to go to my "videos i watch while i eat" but i can't stop watching. Your voice is so calming and the way you detail your steps is just so satisfying 😂🥰✨
I don't even sew but I found this tutorial and watched it anyway. Now I want to learn to sew by watching Paige's tutorials.. Well done Paige. A new hobby was born today.
Excellent tutorial. I made one a few years ago but have never worn it because the hem was so uneven. Of the many videos, You are the only person to acknowledged and addressed the problem with the hem, also the instructions were very clear.
Paige, that was so well explained. I make my wife's clothes, I think she'll love this. Thank you for all your hard work and generosity in sharing. Greetings from North Wales, UK.
Amazing tutorial! Exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Could you please do a dress tutorial in the future? I really don't know how to make a nice structured bodice... You're so good at explaining and showing professionally how to sew that it would be great if you did a tutorial on that!
Thank you for your comment! Yes, I have a dress pattern that I will be reviewing and showing how to sew this spring. I plan on covering many different dresses throughout this year too.
Greetings from South Africa! You are a good teacher and have an amazing voice clear to understand and i love you for this tutorial. I just like to know the waist how to divide by what number. Appreciate your efforts in helping us.much love 💗💗
I almost never post on RUclips but had to jump out and say THANK YOU! I followed the most part of your tutorial and made a full circle skirt which is my first DIY clothing item ever. Really appreciate the teaching, keep up with the great content!
Wow😯😯😯😯 thank you so much dear...i didnot watch ur entire video but the first part of it which is what im looking for on to how to calculate and cut a half circle skirt...After following your instructions i just cut out a skirt for myself...Thanks for your simple and easy instructions dear... I love how much hand finishing you did on this skirt. No cutting corners, and lots of attention to detail. The finished skirt speaks for itself. Lovely x
Hi, I am so happy I stumbled across your video, you are so clear with your explanation, I have watched many videos on circle skirts but found yours to very thorough. I am new to sewing and really appreciate you taking time out from your busy schedule and helping beginners like myself. I understood every step, so Thank you.
This is easily the best how to I've ever seen. I take fashion / sewing classes but I'm always looking for more knowledge or tips, so I watch a lot of sewing videos. Thank you for all the explanations and additions of *why* you do things that way. So many little details that usually get passes over - it is very helpful and exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you!!!
After watching several tutorial videos I chose to follow yours (being the most thorough and easy to follow) and did so step by step as I made my skirt- being a complete beginner at sewing garments; I was thrilled to discover your teaching source as it has given me the best possible start. Thank you Paige, I feel indebted!
Hello, and Thankyou very much for the beautiful, clear, detailed tutorial. Your work is very precise and the results are clearly high quality. I was looking for skirts online because we can’t get much in the way of skirts in stores here inQuebec... The ones I found online that I liked started at 300$! Some cost thousands! I will watch a couple more of your videos and then get sewing! Thanks again!
This tutorial is so detailed and meticulous, it's fantastic. For those who prefer fewer details and working it out themselves, this video may seem overwhelming. But for me, the amount of careful thought and explanation into the tutorial AND the pattern makes me feel more prepared and confident. You even have a pdf file of the measurements and a blog post with extra details! I love the extra steps like the inner lining, the interfacing, and the invisible zipper Although I think this skirt is above my experience level, I very much look forward to returning to it again when I'm more practiced in my sewing skills. I plan to start with your easy gathered skirt and work my way up to this mid-length skirt. It is videos like yours that really inspire me to sew! Thank you so much, Paige~
Wow, what a sweet note. I really appreciate it. I try to provide a good resource so that you can return to it if you run into any questions. The gathered skirt will be perfect to start with. It is definitely a confidence builder. Best wishes of sewing success to you!
I followed your tutorial and managed to make myself a skirt! Made lots of mistakes due to my lack of basic sewing skills but the video is really good and easy to follow. Thanks!
Hi Paige! This is awesome. You completely demystified the half circle skirt. I love lined skirts and you have shown how to do it. Your explanations are so clear and concise. I'm so trying this. Thank you!

I came here to learn about a circle skirt and ended up learning how to properly sew in a zipper, and I think I'm more excited about that than I am the skirt.
